Absolutely love this site. The rally field is great with loads of room, and if you're in the middle with no hook-up it really doesn't matter for a night or two so long as your leisure battery's charged!

The shower block is immaculate, the owls are lovely and the fact that you can order your morning newspaper is just another lovely touch.

It's handy for oulton park when there's any racing on, and the surrounding countryside is great too for walking. We asked at reception about local walks and they gave us a map and even drew on a suitable route when we explained what kind of walk we wanted to do. Super customer service!

I had good expectations of this campsite, given the reviews I had read, and was not disappointed.

On arrival we were directed to the camping field and given a choice of the remaining pitches. It is a large field and plenty of space in the middle for the children to play. Before visiting I was really looking for somewhere with a children's play area, but it made no difference that there wasn't one. Lots of open space and the kids had a great time.

I was slightly concerned as we were pitched next to an all-adult group - my kids go to bed quite early and rise very early and was worried that we would disturb each other. But no worries at all - everyone on the site seemed very considerate of each other.

The owl garden was fantastic - my kids loved looking at the owls and made the campsite stand out in their memory.

Facilities were great. Modern, clean and no problems at all with them. I'm sure there are busier times but I would estimate the place was about half-full and had no waits at all to use the facilities.

There is some road noise, as others have mentioned, but it didn't disturb us at all.

Would definitely recommend to others.

We have just spent the weekend here and it is an excellent site.

It has all the facilities you ned and more.

Very pet friendly with an off the lead walk.

The best fish and chips that we have every had so don't miss the chance of staying here.

Plenty of places to visit and things to do.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. Facilities are immaculate with plenty of loo roll and paper towels etc.

The owls were cute and amazingly quiet. The wardens were a little quiet. Kept themselves to themselves and were not very talkative, however, they kept the site pristine.

The site is next to a main road which is busy and the traffic is fast. Be careful if you walk to the pub as there are no street lights to guide you back. Traffic noise disappears as the night goes on.

The pitches are close together therefore making it feel a bit cramped.

Excellent facilities and friendly staff. Near to lots of attractions. Will return soon to go to some National trust properties we did not see last time.

Heated shower block was super as were dish washing facilities as our pump had broken so had no water in our caravan.

We visited Tatton park but unfortunately could not view the stately home as it was closed so we just strolled around the lovely gardens.

Delamere forest was near so we had a good walk which was very enjoyable.

Recently returned from a weekend break at this site. As everybody else has commented, the site is immaculate - toilet block and showers were always spotless, plenty of loo roll etc.

The wardens were very friendly and always keen to help and offered suggestions for some lovely walks in the surrounding area.

Fish & chip van on the site was open on Fri & Sat nights (£4.50 for fish and chips). Yes, it is near to the road which was very busy, but after a while you kind of got used to the noise.

My only negative is that I felt that the pitches were too close to each other and that there was too many for the size of field, but perhaps that's just me.

All in all though, a lovely site with first class facilities.

Brilliant site, right on our doorstep, have been twice this year already and are going back next monthe fingers crossed.

Large pitches in a huge field with or without hookup. Fish and chips fri and sat evenings, great shop selling all sorts.

Fab toilet/shower block which is so clean! beautiful little bird/owl garden.

And a pub just down the road (has funny opening times so check before you set off) 10/10 brill site, great staff :-) 13. 50 - 19. 50 approx has online booking too!

Not far into windsford or chester

I must say what a little pearl of a site this is. Ideal location for jaunts in and around delamere forest and the cheshire countryside and what a clean and comfortable site to visit !

Well planned site and facilities reflect the hard work and long hours the staff and owners put in, nothing is too much trouble for them.

We will definitely be going again however I would advise on booking early for the high season as this site will be very popular.

Just got back from 4 nights at this lovely little site, Elm Cottage has got to be possibly one of the best sites we have ever stayed in, first impressions where of a clean bright well looked after site, these impressions lasted throughout our stay, the site is on a main road so yes, there is road noise, our pitch was 2 pitches away from the fence and I can honestly say the road noise didn't bother us in the slightest.

The modern toilet block was excellent, the underfloor heating was most welcoming especially as we woke to a blanket of frost! showers were hot and we never had to queue for facilities. My only criticism of the toilet block is the shower cubicles are a bit on the small side but the standard of them more than compensated for this.

The Owl garden was a pleasant addition, I spent quite a bit of time in here and being a keen photographer I was in my element!

The only thing missing on this site is a play area for the kids but maybe this is wise move by the owners as it is a peaceful site, my two kept themselves entertained so it wasn't really a problem.

There is a large dog walk which was great and the shop was well stocked with essentials and treats! I came home with a souvenir fridge magnet and a lovely jar of homemade jam which was delicious.

This site came 11th in the best site awards and I can well believe why. Well done Elm Cottage! keep up the good work, we cannot wait to revisit.

Since my last stay at Elm Cottage, 3 years ago, new facilities have been built, and what a difference that has made! The owners, friendly and helpful as before (what a good thought, asking if you'd like a paper in the morning), keep them spotlessly clean - how many sites are there where you're not afraid to put things down on the surfaces? Handwash and paper towels are available, and the unmetered showers are lovely, with a mop and bucket on hand to tidy up after you.

I overcame the traffic noise this time by pitching in the furthest end of the site away from the road; it may have been a bit of a trek to the facilities but they more than made up for it.

Elm Cottage is ideally located for touring the area, with days out possible in all directions. Reasonable food is available at the Shrewsbury Arms along the road, and I particularly liked their summer ale called Dizzy Blonde, though I had a bit of explaining to do when I went home and told the wife how many of them I'd enjoyed while I was away.
