We spent our first weekend camping at Elm Cottage and have to say we had a fantastic time. The owners were helpful throughout, the pitch was huge and we opted to go to the end of the field meaning we had a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Ball games are no problem and my two boys enjoyed getting back to basics just playing football, rounders and cards with their mum and dad. The toilet and shower block was immaculate.
We went into Chester which was about 25 mins drive but soon returned to the peace of the campsite. I would highly recommend it to families and we will return.

This was our 3rd visit to site, in two years. We returned back and everything was how we left the site, still clean and still tidy. Showers and toilets are spotless, pitch size is more than enough car awning and car etc.
There is a big rally field and a couple of snugs (function rooms). We stayed on the main pitch site with ehu, managed to get most of the Tv channels so all in all a great weekend.
There is a small shop on site, small !, for bread and milk etc and asda / morrison is only 10mins drive away.
Think we will be back when we want a cheeky weekend away.

First outing in our trailer tent was to Elm Cottage - we are only down the M6 in Stoke and chose this site to trial run the trailer. It's a great site - ideally sited in Cheshire to visit pretty much everywhere.
We visited Chester for the shops and Cathedral and also the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, with Cheshire Oaks on the way home.
The site - it's a 99.99% out of 100% site.
The staff are remarkable and ever helpful, keep the place totally spotless, the shop is great and good prices (ice-creams aplenty!).
Layout of the place - you have the hookup area for those that require it or a massive rally field next door and it was busy there on our visit. We chose hookup so were away from the hustle and bustle.
The toilet/facility block is amazing - an 'eco-building' with underfloor heating, water saving, etc, and is a pleasure to use, especially as camping is a good eco-holiday anyway.
What else - make sure you visit the owls, enjoy the washing up facilities and don't be afraid to ask for help and make sure you order your morning paper in the evening and watch for the flag next morning to tell you they've arrived.
Only downside, as everyone else says, which is the 0.01% for us - the road noise - but you get used to it I guess, seeing the site is on a main road.
Enjoy Elm Cottage - we will be back there sometime.

Had a great time, campsite in a great location - really easy to find off the main road but once you get there you could be anywhere!
Friendly site suitable for all types of groups, very accommodating and very reasonably prices.
Has just been awarded a 5 star rating and feel that it thoroughly deserves it.
Facilities were immaculate, the shower / toilet block was warmer than our tent and it was so clean that it made me want to sleep in there instead.
Owls were a nice touch to keep the kids entertained although all the adults in the group were fascinated by them too!

We have just returned from a most memorable visit to Elm Cottage over the May Bank Holiday. There were five families, all on the rally field, with a variety of units, all of us were accommodated with no problems.
Three of the five have visited before and we were still thoroughly impressed with the facilities and friendly approach the staff at Elm Cottage provide. We had a great time playing rounders, barbecuing, and socialising on the site, and visited the nearby Manley Mere for some 'family bonding' on the Sunday.

Spent five glorious days here in wall to wall sunshine. The site is well maintained, clean and tidy. The toilet block is very modern with geo thermal under floor heating, automatic lights, decent showers, lots of hot water.
The staff were very helpful. The main site is quite tight for space and there isn't much for children to do although there is loads of space in the rally field for them to run around. We ate at the pub a few minutes walk up the road.

Booked last minute. We are novice caravanners (ex-campers) and this was our 1st trip out with our caravan. The site was spotlessly clean and the toilet block was one of the nicest we've come across - I can't tell you how wonderful the heated floors were (geo-thermal heating). Our dogs were not with us for our 1st outing in the 'van but the site seems very dog friendly. The road noise wasn't noticable in the caravan, although in a tent it may be more of a problem.
We had a lovely walk in Delamere Forest on the Saturday. Our butane froze so we had a quick trip to Discover Leisure down the road and bought some propane - problem solved. There is a pub within walking distance but we didn't manage to visit it. Sunday we awoke to thick snow. The owner of the site was on standby to tow us (and others)to the road with his tractor. Although this site is not very far from where we live we would definitely return.

I have just returned from two enjoyable nights at Elm Cottage.
It is a very well managed site, the owner was very helpful and available from 9am to 7pm.
There is a small shop on site that stocks essentials. The facilities are very clean and well looked after.
All the pitches are well marked and spread out. Although no play area for children, there is a huge rally field to play ball games on and an owl garden.

Spent 3 nights here over the new period. Excellent campsite with wonderful toilet block, modern, spotlessly clean at all times and the underfloor heating was heavenly in below zero temperatures.
They had the freezing conditions catered for by having an indoor tap for when the one outside one froze (which it did).
Lots to do in the surrounding area with historic Chester just under 15 miles away. Delamere Forest and the Shire Horse centre are also within a short distance.
The owls were a big hit with my eldest daughter but they both missed having a playground.
I agree with the other reviews that there can be some road noise but we didn't notice it as much after the first night.
Will definitely be making a return visit!

Just the same as last time brill, easy to find, great location small without it being cramped. Pitch space is amazing plenty of room. Toilets and showers are always spotless. Little things that I really like are 1) tap to fill water carry up has a nozzle on it so it pours into your tub no need for a flex pipe/hose. 2) elsan, empting separate flush and short hose pipe very clever setup. I know ( god is that all you can say about the site) no I could go on for ages but why should i, get booked in and find out for yourself, you wont be disappointed.
Very very helpful staff cannot do enough for you nothing is too much trouble.
