Stayed at the site over the bank holiday weekend as a last minute booking due to the site we had booked being cancelled due to flooding, therefore we were apprehensive about the site being able to squeeze us in on the bank holiday.
Upon arriving we were directed to the rally field as they were no rallies planned for the weekend the field was level and the ground and drainage was excellent.
The site was very busy as would be expected and because of this the toilet and showers were very busy at all times, however they were always spotless and probably the cleanest facilities I have seen at a site when stretched to this capacity. All facilities were excellent as well due to being new this year.
As previously mentioned road noise may be a problem dependent upon where on the field you pitch, however this did not prove a problem for us.
Overall had a fantastic weekend and will definitely be adding this site onto a site to revisit in the future!

We have stayed at this site regularly for the past few years. The friendly owners keep it immaculate and have steadily improved the site, adding a large rally field, a dog walk, and now a new toilet block. There is a small shop to cover essentials (like ice cream!) and gas is available. The owners keep owls and allow visitors to see them. There is a pub down the road which is a five to ten minute stagger, which also sells food. There is a shopping centre about 15 minutes drive at Winsford. There is plenty of opportunity to walk,or ride a bike. Or you can watch the horses go by. The Hollies is also worth a visit - it is a garden centre come upmarket farm shop- but take plenty of money.

Our first stay at this site.
We were a large party with 3 tents, 7 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs.
The site was very accommodating for our large party. We could choose where to pitch and suggestions were made where we could go so that we could all pitch together which I thought was nice.
The camping field was flat and divided into tents, touring caravans and then an area at the back for rallies.
The facilities were excellent a brand new amenities block that a lot of sites could do with seeing. Great toilets and showers. 3 showers and 4 toilets in male and female. All brand new and sparkling clean. Washing up facilities again excellent and a laundry room.
The reception area stocked a lot of groceries and you could buy cold drinks and pay a small amount to freeze ice packs. They also sold home made jams etc.
Recycling was promoted and ample room for rubbish.
The site has a dog walk which was fine.
My only little criticisms would be when you are camping you are by the main road so it can be noisy. We noticed a real difference between the weekend and Monday morning with all the work traffic. The mirrors in the toilets are plastic not glass and felt like fair ground mirrors which was strange and made me feel a bit ill.
A great site though we shall come again when visiting friends in the area. There is loads to see and do nearby.

We have just returned from spending the weekend at this lovely site.Toilets and showers are new and spotless. The people running the site are very helpful and chatty. You can order your papers from reception! The owl garden is lovely with many owls there to see. I have no complaints at all with this site and will certainly return again soon.

This was our 2nd visit to Elm Cottage and have no complaints at all. The staff are helpful and friendly, the campling field is mostly flat and there is a new shower/toilet block (not that that was much wrong with the old one). It is the ideal location for Oulton Park (30 mins walk & 5 minutes drive away). There is a pub just down the road (The Shrewsbury Arms) that serves good food very slowly, it pays to book at weekend and don't expect to leave before 10pm if you arrive at 7:30.
All in all, a great site, fantastic value for money, we will be back.

The site is kept immaculate, the toilets and shower blocks are the cleanest that I've seen on a camp site. My children enjoy going to see the beautiful owls which the owner has which are well looked after. There is a huge rally field which the children like to play in. The surrounding countryside is stunning. There is plenty to do such as going to see the car and bike racing at Oulton Park and plenty of country walks. There are plenty of shops that are a few minutes away by car, and a pub on the corner. The location is great for visiting Chester, Manchester and Wales. I really enjoyed my stay and am going back again in August, it's well worth the visit.

This is a wonderful small site on the A54. It was easy to find. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a new toilet and shower block that has just been opened and is spotless - even the hairdryer was free. The washing up area was a little small and you could find yourself queueing on a busy period but this did not put us off. There is a rally field and they have a barn that can be hired out for rally events. The site is very well maintained and the owners have a private garden which contains lots of cages for their private collection of Owls - you are allowed to go in and see these beautiful birds. They have chipmunks in a cage at Reception too! This site has little touches that you don't often see at normal sites and the one that we both commented on was the air compressor and inflator so that you could make sure you had the right tyre inflation prior to your journey home. Although we were next to the busy A54 we did not have any problems with traffic noise. The prices are very reasonable. We have no hesitation in going back there in either Tent or Van. The site does have a small shop which stocks basic items and you can get gas there. The Shrewsbury Arms pub is 400yds down the road if you fancy a short walk for a beer or two. Many thanks Elm Cottage for a wonderful and pleasant stay!

Spent a weekend at Elm Cottage in a Tent. Stopped on the main camping field which is largely level around the edges. Plenty of space as there are no set pitches. This field backs onto the main road, so road noise can be a bit of a problem if you are a light sleeper.
The toilet block is brand new (Easter 2008) so is clean and modern. In the mens, there are 3 showers and 3 toilets. It was busy for this weekend, but only minimal queues, especially as there were two rallies on also.
It is just a few miles away from the Delamere forest. We managed to go bike riding (you can hire bikes near the Forest shop there) around the signposted trails around the forest.
If I needed to stop in that area again, I would go back to Elm Cottage Caravan Park.

We have just returned from here all I can say is the facilities are very nice and new, but there are not enough when the rally field and tent field and caravan site are full, as the gents have only got three showers and three toilets, which is certainly not enough. Plus the traffic noise can be a little noisy when the wind is in a certain direction
