We spent a very cold, snowy weekend in March at the site. Despite the weather we had a good time.

This was our first visit. The site is spotlessly clean and the showers were just fantastic. (Warmer than in our van). The man running the site was friendly even when he was cleaning the snow off the toilet block roof!

I will be visiting again and taking my granddaughter.

We didn't notice the road noise at all from the site. But we used the dog walk, which was great, and was only aware of the slight road noise then.

The site is in a good place to visit Winsford, a small town with a few good shops, an indoor market and a couple of supermarkets. Down the road is Blakemere Centre which has a mix of craft, antique, pet and candle making shops, cafe etc. Great for a wet cold day.

It is probably a good place to stay if you want to visit Chester as the bus stops just outside the site.

It could be a bit expensive at peak times but I think low/mid-season isn't too bad.

Have just spent the Easter weekend at this site, it's quite pricey at €22 per night for hook-up, but this includes, very clean, warm shower/washrooms, probably the best I have seen so far. A large rally field with plenty of room to play, but beware of overhead power lines, good tv reception for wet nights. There is a pub just a 5 minute walk away, but otherwise there is nothing here, you can pre-order papers and pick them up from the little shop that is quite well stocked.

Now for the not so good things, in my opinion. The owners are not very friendly, they care more about the rules and regulations, with little signs everywhere, making sure you don't step out of line. They just check you in tell you where to go, end of. And the most annoying thing was that they wanted to charge £5 PER DAY for wi-fi access, per I-pad, tablet. It's free everywhere else and misleading as its included in the site details, but doesn't say it's chargeable, a bit naughty on top of £22 per night. I wouldn't say don't go here, because its very clean and tidy, but don't expect a chatty friendly site, and be prepared to pay for your wi-fi access.

Based on reviews on this site, we decided on Elm Cottage touring park for our holiday - was supposed to be taken in late July, but due to my wife breaking her 5th metatarsal we had to postpone.

This is our 3rd outing in a caravan, the first being to Hafan y Mor, Pwllheli in May, and the second to the Royal Welsh Show in July

Anyway, we arrived on site, and were immediately struck by the cleanliness of the site.

The owners are very nice people to deal with - and seem happy to help.

The toilet and shower blocks are spotless, and the heated floor and hot water(heated by ground source heat pumps, supplemented by solar PVs incidentally) are fantastic.

These are not ordinary shower blocks, they are (or could well be) M&S shower blocks. Usually a visit to such a place takes as little time as possible. Not here. A shower, or even a read of the newspaper can take as much time as you want (provided nobody's waiting).

Behind the shower blocks there's a (wait for it) owl sanctuary. A genius idea as the owls kept our kids well entertained. I guess that only a daily visit from Mr Tumble (C-Beebies) could top the owls - and let's face it, it's hardly likely to happen.

Have I mentioned how clean the site is? Doesn't matter, I'll mention it again. It's spotless, and well kept, and there's obviously a lot of pride taken in it's upkeep.

A nice little Tourist Information Point, and small shop for the essentials, and even a tyre pressure line and gauge for those who want to check before departure.

Cheshire Oaks outlet shopping complex is about 30 mins away - and directly next door is a VUE cinema, 10 pin bowling, lots of restaurants cafes etc etc.

Gullivers World (Under 12s theme park) also about 30 mins away.

About 5 mins away also is a place called Blakemere ( www. Visitblakemere. Co. Uk/ ) - quite an eclectic mix of a place, little boutiques, shops, creche, kids play area, crafts, and a fantastic micro brewery ('spellbinder' is a great pint from there).

Within a very short drive, or a decent walk away is the Shrewsbury Arms pub - very friendly place, and one of the best Sirloin Steaks I've ever had. First thing they did when we arrived there was bring a box of toys to keep the kids happy. Fantastic.

Anyway, highly recommended and we'll be re-visiting it again.

Owls. Absolute genius idea.

We stayed here for one night on the way home from The Lake District - randomly picked while searching for somewhere not too far from the M6. The reviews here helped to sell it to us and we weren't disappointed.

It was very quiet (time of year) and so we were put on the part where the caravans go and were lucky to only be charged the normal field rate.

The pitches were very well maintained with hanging baskets. As others have said, the road is noisy, but this didn't stop us getting a good night sleep.

The facilities were some of the best we've found - spotless toilet and shower areas, warm and spacious with plenty of hot water. The washing up area was equally spotless. Very well maintained.

The Shrewsbury Arms, a 5 minute walk along the road is nice and friendly and offers great pub food with small portions for smaller appetites.

All in all an excellent site.

We stayed with friends at this site on second weekend in September 2012.

The site is extremely clean and tidy. The toilets and showers immaculate. There's a small shop on site with essentials and more. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, We left later on Sunday because of 'first match of the season ', in time to get back and clear away and it was no problem to the owners. This was the main reason for camping within half an our of home.

We would definitely stay here again. There was plenty of room for kids to play and there's a great pub only 400yards away.

We would say the only downside was the noise from the road.

But too many good points about this site not to go back because of that.

What a beautiful well kept site? it is split in two effectively. The first half being the caravan area in the flat manicured lawn area, surrounded by flowers and flower baskets. Well lit, well kept, close to the facilities no matter where you are on this side of the site. There is a choice of type of pitch from fairly basic with electric to super pitches with hard stand and facilities on the pitch. The second half is the rally and camping field. Again its well kept and has electric on the field.

The facilities are small and you could face a queue if there was a rally on the field, but they are scrupulously clean and are cleaned and tidied several times a day. The ladies have three shower cubicles, one small private washing cubicle, four toilets and three basins.

The only down side, minor though it is, the shower operates on a push button system. There are ample washing up areas and also a laundry. They also have a toddler/disabled shower/wet room. There is a private garden with owls from all over the world in the aviary. The staff are helpful.

We were on a pitch in the first half of the site and due to being August bank holiday we felt a little hemmed in, but once you got over that feeling we really enjoyed ourselves. No one bothered you on your pitch, but you knew there was always someone keeping an eye on the site.

Well worth the visit and we shall certainly visit again soon.

We had a great weekend here, thankfully some decent weather at last.

The site is divided into two areas with a touring area with a mix of hardstanding and grassed pitches, and a large camping field adjacent.

The touring area is a bit cramped but is well maintained with all the facilities which larger units need. Generally this caters for caravans and big motorhomes but smaller units could also pitch up here.

The camping field is a real treat. Its a large space with pitches marked around the perimeter. There's electric hook up if needed, with water available at the edge of the field. Clearly the owners understand that many campers like space and wherever possible avoid having units in the centre of the field, which then gets used by kids as a playground. You really get the feeling of proper camping here, its just a nice place to be, particularly in the sun! Our pitch was sloping but many weren't.

The toilets/showers were modern and spotless, and were kept that way. The shower cubicles had an adjacent changing space but were quite narrow.

The shop was tiny and crammed full of all the stuff that a larger shop would have - fit to burst. Owners were always available and offered us use of an ehu extension lead without us asking, which was good of them.

The Shrewsbury arms is a short walk away, the food was decent pub style, nothing great but fine. They had good cask ales and a handsome patio and beer garden with kids playground. The site itself has a fish and chip cubicle on fridays/saturdays and do a mean portion of chunky chips.

Id recommend this site, and the camping field in particular.

We have just returned from our second stay at elm cottage and as on our first everything is spot on

The field is huge well kept and flat with plenty of space between tents as people have said before it does not have a playground and does not need one our granddaughter who is 5 had a great time and soon made friends with some lovely children

I truly think a play area is not needed as the children made their own fun and were safe as car owners abide by the rules and drive carefully

Every where is immaculate showers are hot and free

And as we had a baby with us we paid a 10 pound returnable deposit to use the baby change room where there is huge sink to bath the baby in and a pull down change unit this room also doubles up with disabled facilities with a shower and loo

There is a small shop and you can order your newspapers and other bits and bobs oh and great ice cream

There is a fish and chip van on Friday and Saturday you can order it for the time you want to eat and they have it ready they do other hot food as well every thing is hot fresh and well cooked and highly recommended

Behind the toilet block is a garden with owls all different breeds that our granddaughter had never seen close up before

All the staff are great and one even let me use their phone as I got myself in a bit of a pickle

With no phone and needed to get in touch with someone urgently

There is a pub in walking distance that does food

And a big asda not far away

Anyway I am going to stop raving about this place or there wont be any room to go back on the 26th

Just had a lovely weekend here at elm cottage, this was not our first time here.

Site is kept spotless, everything neat and tidy and is/ always has been a pleasure to stay here.

Very small shop on site to supply the basics good showers and toilets.

We, my wife 8 year old son and 70 year old mother stayed here, as it was the annual boat festival at middlewich which, if you are into that sort of thing is a great weekend.

If you stay here then I am sure you will not be disappointed, we never have been. This site will win awards and keep winning them.

To all at team at elm cottage keep up the great work.
