I've visited this site 3 times now and its been a pleasure everytime. Nice peaceful site with friendly and helpful owners.

Good for the kids with the animals and exploring to be done.

Even when its busy you can find a quiet spot to set up camp and no big groups of yobs to spoil things.

Will definitely be visiting again.

Cannot recommend enough!

Our first time camping weather good, this site we found very nice, Ken and Isabella warm and friendly. Location very relaxing yet close to many great places in North Yorkshire. Pitches level. Shower blocks (2) basic but always hot water and site was almost full. Great that they don't cram more people in as all the kids played ball games in the middle of the field, we will return.

A great site - the peaceful setting more than makes up for the basic facilities.

Yes there are queues for the loos first thing, but these go down pretty quickly - it wasn't a problem at all, even with a newly toilet trained 2 yr old.

2/3 people queuing for the shower on a morning (chairs provided!) - but with 2 showers I'm guessing the queue went down fairly quickly. We showered on a night instead before putting the kids to bed.

The facilities are always nice and clean - must be done regularly throughout the day - waste paper basket never seemed to be overflowing. Toilet roll, handwash and paper towels all provided which I thought was a bit of a luxury really.

You get plenty of space and can pitch your tent in any direction you like (ie facing into the woods, or inwards towards the other tents) - tents are not packed in like sardines - huge expanse of grass in middle left free for 'fun and games' to quote 'Farmer Ken'

The kids loved the horse, and the chickens and having lots of space to run about. The fence around the horses field is electric, but because the kids had heard Ken tell us this - they kept away from it 'Farmer Ken says you mustn't touch that' - far more effective than us telling them. And there is a space with a wooden section of fence where you can lean over and feed/pat the horse.

If you're taking a disposable bbq you'll find plenty of breeze blocks around the place - provided for putting your bbq on.

There was quite a bit of noise up until about 10pm - but surprisingly the kids went to sleep despite this (noise only from people talking / playing swingball outside next tent) - and after 10pm couldn't' hear a thing.

Take a decent torch as there's no lighting at all once it gets dark.

All in all - a great site and we've already booked our next weekend there.

We'd been concerned about what people had said on this site about the lack of facilities, but don't be put off. It's in a beautiful location with plenty of places to walk, straight from the site.

Ken deliberately keeps the site under-capacity, which means there's loads of space. He grouped all the families together at the end nearest the toilet, though still with plenty of space between us, so the kids all played together and had a massive game of football in the middle without disrupting everyone else. The downside was that some kids stay up later than others. But when it rains at night they all go to bed early. And I didn't hear a single swear word during our stay.

Though there are few facilities, they are kept amazingly clean - Ken is always around doing something useful. And though there were queues, they were never long, and people used them as an opportunity to chat. Much friendlier than most sites we've been on. If you're up before about 8, there's no queue for the showers. If you do need to queue - there are chairs to sit on while you wait.

The shower nearest the road is only cold (see review below) if you can't work out how to use it - it took a few minutes to suss it out, but then we got it right. And there's plenty of space in both showers to get parent and children in.

This quiet site is on a working farm about 1.5 miles down a narrow country lane on the edge of a forest. The site is surrounded by woodland and open fields and all pitches are situated around the edge of the field, plenty of them with EHU. We were greeted by the owner who showed us the available pitches and told us he'd collect payment the following morning.

The facilities are best described as basic but clean with the owner checking them regularly throughout the day. There are two good sized wet rooms with shower, toilet and wash basin, and inside the barn there are a further two toilets, two basins, a sink for pot washing, two power sockets for hair dryers etc and a free tumble dryer. It must be said however all the facilities are unisex which may be off putting for some and queues are regular, especially for the showers. There is no freezer but the owners provided an ice pack service between 9 and 6.30. The site is also very dark at night so remember to take a good torch.D

ogs are allowed and there are plenty of good walks from the site. There is a local spar and filling station about 2 miles away in the village and I can recommend the pub ' the dennison ',good fresh home cooked food with huge portions, but it can get very busy so go early. Overall what the site lacked in facilities was made up by the friendliness of the owners and its lovely location, would go again if not too busy

This is a fantastic quiet relaxing site. Very friendly man (ken) who helps you pick your req destination. Our first experience here was very nice but just a couple of faults one which I think could do with addressing, the drive up to the campsite I found very daunting as it was a dirt track road that didn't have enough pull over places when met by traffic coming the opposite way. Luckily 2 out of 3 times it happened to me the other person reversed but had to go quite a long way back before could pull over and judging by the muttering of lips were not happy about doing so. The 2nd fault as written in previous reviews is there are not enough toilets for amount of people camping. 2 unisex which isn't very nice when queuing and 2 showers with toilets inside. We ended up washing up outside our tent and brushing our teeth also to avoid the wait.

Overall the site is lovely so don't let it put you off. An electric fence is put around the horse in bottom field which although has plenty small signs around, our kids did get a few shocks on arrival when feeding hovis the horse.

Very peaceful campsite. Owner very friendly and helpful.

Although there was only two shower rooms you didn't have to wait long.

Be careful going up the track to the campsite as you could encounter some wildlife. But there is a beautiful aroma of fresh garlic .

There is a spar and a lovely fish and chip shop not far from the site.

Easy access to Scarborough, Whitby and Filey for a day out.

Would definitely go back and stay here.

Just returned from our 2nd visit to this site. It is a beautiful site, nice and peaceful. The owners Ken and isobel can't do enough for you. Toilets and showers are always clean and tidy. Nothing to do on site but walking and relaxing which is great. Lots of places to visit by car including the beautiful Thorton Le dale, Flamingoland, Filey and Bridlington. Will definitely be retuning again.

We just got back from here and pretty much agree with everything said by the others .

Yes its true , you have to queue for shower ( if you go when its busy) , or you could do what we did , get up early or go when its quiet. Ken the owner is very helpful , and helped us out when we needed to see a Docter , pointed us in the right direction .

We arrived on the Monday , and it was wonderful , it chucked it down a couple of times but the site soon dried out .By 10.00 at night you could hear a pin drop . If you want to be quiet and out of the way this is the place to go .

So we had a great week , and then came Saturday . This is when the familys who have no respect for other campers turned up . It was impossible for there kids to speak without screaming at the top of there voices . Then there was a bunch of drunken morons who had to be warned by Ken , 'well done' . We would use the site again but would avoid weekends.

The facilities are ok , well it was only £16.00 a night for 2 adults and 2 kids. There is a tumble dryer in the toilet block that's free. The shower nearest the road is cold , but the other is nice and hot .

Cover up well , especially if you go walking in the forest , there's plenty of 'TICKS.' We had a visitor in the night , sniiffing and grunting round the tent , but being 6 foot tall and 16 stone I was too scared to go and see what it was .

Nice site , nice location , facilities are ok

Another first timers review. We visited in the last weekend of July and enjoyed our stay.

We will definitely go again.

Great open site with plenty of space . Two toilets and two shower rooms with w.C's and sinks (like wet rooms).

There were queues sometimes on a morning but they were regularly cleaned. Ken the owner was very friendly. Local amenities were really a drive or a longish walk ( nearly 2 miles to the pub). Meals at the Dennison Arms were huge and worth every penny.
