We have just go back from the most wonderful night's stay at High Yedmandale.
The owner says that all they can offer is Peace and Quiet - and he is spot on.
There must have been nearly 30 tents etc last night and so you can imagine the queues for the 2 toilets and 2 showers. This is not kind to the children who sometimes get desperate and can't always time their visit to allow for a 15 minute wait.
The owner kindly provides 3 chairs to wait on but it can't be much fun waiting in the rain.
The site itself is a mile and a half off the road so it is set in gorgeous rural countryside and we found a private spot on a busy site.
Our boys had plenty of room to play and we enjoyed night time nature hunts in the woods which are just to the edge of the site.
There are lovely dog walks but could not believe how many owners still do not pick up afterwards if they think that they can get away with it.
Despite it being full, the site was the quietest we have stayed on and have come home feeling refreshed and very keen to visit again.
Please don't visit if you need modern flashy facilities or looking for parties late into the night round a camp fire. These are strictly forbidden and we understood being on the edge of a forest!
Come expecting a beautiful quiet site which is very much back to basics and you leave a very happy camper.

This is a lovely site and well organised. It is very tranquil and has lovely views and walks. It was not overcrowded at all considering it was a red hot weekend and all the caravanners were out in full flow.
This site is a real find and the owner Ken is very polite and friendly making your stay as peaceful as possible. I would really recommend this site for those who just want to get away from the hussle and bustle.
In fact we are hoping to return again next week for a quick break and will do so more regularly now we have found this spot. Only a couple of showers but that doesn't matter. Take it all in your stride.

This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. This is well off the beaten track and just what we needed for an escape away to recharge our batteries. We were one of only 3 tents on the camping field and managed to find a nice flat spot. The showers and toilets are very clean and as the park was quiet, we had no problems with using the facilities when we wanted to.
The site is just on the edge of some lovely countryside and forest walks. There is plenty to do in the area but we just sat back and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the site.
The owner is very friendly and helpful and we look forward to our next visit.

We have had another brill time at High yedmandale, if it is peace and quiet you want then this is the place.
Ken and Isabell are lovely if they can help you they will. We have been camping there now for about 10 year and we have seen some changes all for the better,
We cant get enough of the views and the quiet. Just to get away for a few days batteries recharged.
The field is not crowded plenty of room.

Had a lovely weekend at High Yedmandale Farm, very quiet (only 3 tents there) but this added to the peaceful atmosphere. Kids loved feeding Boris the horse and the geese and the surrounding area was perfect for lovely long walks with the dog. The facilities were basic but clean and well maintained. The owner was very friendly and we will definitely be returning in the future.

We chose here for our first ever camping trip, 2 nights midweek in August.
Despite a freezing first night and a day of rain we enjoyed the experience and this site.
The site is reached on a long single dirt track with only a couple of passing places. This certainly gives the site the remote feeling,
We found 2 camping fields and just plonked ourselves in the far one and pitched up.
The facilities were basic but clean but did include a lovely family shower room.
The overall feeling was very relaxed and there was loads of space for the kids to run about and enjoy being kids with a little freedom.
Nice walks for dog owners and a great pub 5 minutes drive away which served gigantic portions.(sorry I forgot the name)
Would return here as it is handy for Scarborough and the overall rural camping feeling.

Spent several days here over easter 2009. Weather damp and grey, but the site was lovely - beautiful camping field, the kids went feral for the week and had an amazing time. The lack of a play area didn't bother them at all.
Ken very helpful; great animal watching (we even found a goose egg!); facilities basic but clean and perfectly adequate. A lovely, peaceful, get away from it all site with easy access to Scarborough if the peace gets too much!

High Yedmandale is a good site in a great position to visit the area. Ken and Isobel are a credit to good campsites very helpful. The facilities on site are clean but you may have to wait a little while during peak hours for shower and the one (smaller) on the right hand side seems a lot warmer.
Eating out for scooby doo portions is the dennilson arms and the best chippy I have ever been in is at crossends?/crossgates? (ask ken)just of the roundabout.
We spent 14 nights here one was disturbed by late night music(no fault of ken) but they were sent packing the next day(well done)
We stopped her with friends and had a birthday party(pirate theme in fancy dress)had a great time playing boules/cricket on what I call a brill family site although the journey to the site can be tedious (long track off main road)
All the people that came with us said they would come again to the same site I spent 14 days here and all were brill.
Top site for a base camp 9/10

Just spent a week at this great site, although we had the site to ourselves we did have a bunch of trail riders come on site.
They were great guys but not considerate to other campers, revving bikes at 7.30am.
Other than that the facilities although basic were spotless, thanks to the owner kens hard work.
The owners ken and isobell were the most friendliest people we have came across, nothing was too much trouble.
Local garage has a spar shop that's not too expensive, scarborough has a great restaurant called the welcome inn.
The byways pub on the B1261 crossgates/filey rd does great 2 meals for £8.00 but only monday-friday,certain meals check menu carefully.
Places to visit include Goathland more commonly known as adiensfield in heartbeat, mallyan spout a waterfall that's 70 foot high, goathland station wich was used in harry potter.
Robin hoods bay, boggle hole, filey are all grat places to visit as well.
A great day out is the pickering to whitby steam train, absolutely brilliant.

Loved this site,we spent two weeks here, got a bit hemmed in on the weekend and agree with other people about noisy campers! that's not the wardens fault though.Ken was wonderful! He felt there might have been a lot of non campers this year!( credit crunch and all that)I asked Ken about the basic facilities, he said that he was really only busy during summer hols,so it wasn't worth upgrading, would love to go back when out of season as the forest must look beautiful. All in all I would recommend this site to anyone. Relaxing stay, plenty to do within a short drive, that doesn't cost a fortune! ( boggle hole, forge valley trail, picturesque villages.)
