This is a really lovely site, the setting is beautiful and the addition of two more toilets has made a world of difference. Ken is always friendly and helpful and seems to genuinely enjoy having people stay on the site. Although a bit too far to walk to the nearest shop, pub etc it is well placed to visit lots of attractions by car. The Fish and Chip shop in West Ayton serves the largest portions of fish I have ever encountered.

We went to this site for a long weekend. Even at this peak time it wasn't crowded and there was masses of space between tents.
The toilets and showers were spacious and didn't have to wait for either - 2 shower rooms with toilets and sinks, hot water took a while to run in the morning but plenty of it.
Cleaned by the site owners constantly but they can still get muddy in wet weather. If people are considerate enough to clean up after themselves using the brushes provided this isn't a big issue. Would recommend taking baby wipes for wiping things down though before and after you use these rooms as some people are scruffy beggars and not quite so considerate!
There are also 2 toilets and a power socket in the barn near the wash up point, along with some tourist info books for you to read while waiting, and a drying rack.
There is a chemical waste point and many recycling bins so the site is always nice and clean. Many water points dotted around the field.
Hardstandings for caravans, tent pitches shaped out by the mower. Dog walkpaths around the edge of the site are also kept tidy. There is a wonderful dale to the side of the site and a bluebell forest well worth exploring if you are good on your feet. Always hearing different birds and seeing foxes etc so take your binos. There is a horse on site called boris who is lovely and a baby German Shepherd called Helga who is always getting up to mischief ( four foot barn doors are no match for her!)but she is very adorable and just wants to play!
The road up to the site is very narrow but if your drive at a careful speed there is room for moving over should you meet someone coming the other way. Ken was always vey cheeryand helpful and regularly walked around the site to check that everyone was ok. A couple got their motorhome stuck in some marshy ground and he was straight over with his landrover to help them out. A lovely chap!
All in all, for £6 per person per night, it is good value for money but you are paying mostly for the surroundings - well worth it though. Will definitley go again as I spent so long exploring the forest that we didn't get to do the Forge Valley Dino Trail!

I love this campsite and wish I wasn't writing this just so I could keep it to myself!
The area for camping is huge and broken up into areas by trees and rough grass divides so you feel that you are camping far from your neighbours. Unit numbers are kept low so you have loads of space to yourself. The children could roam freely and spent loads of time hanging on the gate watching the horse and the geese.
So much better now the 2 extra toilets have been put in, one of the showers is a little tricky to master but lovely and warm. I love reading the suggested visits and walks in the drying room.
This isn't a site for you if you need a bar/pub within walking distance or plugs for hairdriers -but if you just want fresh air, beautiful surroundings, space to breathe, the swallows swooping, the owls hooting, the sun setting above the trees, perfect!

Just back from this lovely site and will definetely return again. Pitched on the caravan field overlooking open views, it was great. The children made lots of friends and their own entertainment as no play facilities which we found was better. The facilities were clean and the owners very helpful. If your looking for a peaceful, quiet site with lots of walks and open fields this is the site for you. Visited Dalby Forest, Forge Valley, Hutton Le Hole (great for paddling in stream), Robin Hoods Bay (rock pooling at low tide)and about 45mins to York. Not enough time to fit everything in as ideal base so will be back again.

This is the third time we have visted High Yedmandale Farm and will not be our last. As always we had a warm welcome from Ken and was told as usual to pitch where we wanted. A group of six of us with three tents found a lovely corner with penty of space around which almost felt like we had our own field - fantastic! Since last year there has been an additional two toilets added and a power point for those vain people who need hairdriers or hairstraightners like one of our group did. The walk along the North Yorkshire Moors at the top of the field is always a must and for once I actually saw a few people, must have been the glorious sunshine. When asking for a stone to put our disposable BBQ's on Ken came up trumps with a full size BBQ and even brought it to our tents for us to use. I love this campsite, if you are looking for a basic campsite without all the fuss, in a quiet and relaxing place, friendly faces and well sheltered this is the place for you! Thanks again Ken and Bella we will no doubt see you again soon.

This is the second time we have stayed here, there are 2 new toilets since our last visit. Very clean facilities, washing up area with free hot water. Nice touches like handwash supplied.
A library of booklets of the surrounding area/points of interest for campers to borrow during their stay.
This a nice rural site, close to the forest, plenty of space - even on a bank holiday as Ken won't allow overcrowding. A short drive to the East coast but far enough away to enjoy nature, kids have to find their own amusement but there is the space for a game of football etc.
There are 2 pubs in the village, we only went to the Denison Arms this time, the meals are amazing, but we have not yet managed to finish the main course - there is so much, unless you are an experienced eater a starter is not recommended and booking is advisable especially on a Saturday (they did manage to squeeze us in but there were only 2 of us).
We will definitely be visiting again and would say this site is great for people who want to camp without on site bars, play areas etc.

This is a quiet rural site, ideal for our needs of peace and tranquility.
The owners are friendly and helpful. The site is great for walking and extremely dog friendly. There footpath that goes through the campsite and into the woods.
There are now four toilets and two showers.
A real haven.

Oh once you had mastered the drive way the view of the site was BRILLIANT. The owner was very helpful. He made the sugestion of where we could place my motorhome as we would not be using it during our stay. (we used my daughters car). We visited evry where and any where from our base.
Yes there were only 2 toilets and showers but if you timed it right there was no wait but you could go and just heve a chat. You could also feed Boris the horse, he loved the carrots! and there were plenty of chickens about.
There was no play area as such for the children, BUT you did have the open space and the wildlife and the walks so what more do you want. We were on the hardstanding C&C C part and the grass was like a bowling green. The walks seem as though the paths had been cut with a lawn mower, so no fighting your way through any long grass. The camping area was kept just as well.
Their web site is fantastic and that made me decide to book.

Arrived and choose our pitch which was very spacious. Owners wont allow site to become overcrowded even at peak times. The owners themselves were extremely helpful and friendly. Toilet facilities were basic with only two toilets and two showers, the toilets being in with the showers did mean long queues at peak times. No playgrounds here but plenty of walks, cycle routes to explore. Pub, chipshop, fish restaurant, shop and garage all in Ayton village about five minutes from site, Chinese takeaway about fifteen minutes away at Cross Gates. About ten miles to Scarborough. Site quiet from ten thirty'ish so good for families with young children. Enjoyed our stay here and would use this site again.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. We had a very relaxing time with 2 children and two dogs! Was quite busy being bank holiday weekend but wasn't too busy that it spoilt the tranquility. If you want a break away this is the site for you, it has no I wants so the children need to bring something to keep them busy, mine took their bikes and were very happy biking in the woods and descending steep hills (heart in mouth!) at 30 mph. For £12.00 a night it was great value. With this price in mind you pay for what you get and I would advise anyone who has their own loo to take it with them, there was only 2 toilets and these were inside the shower rooms,so when the shower rooms were in use you had to wait for the toilet! The owners were very friendly and informed us that they were thinking of installing another toilet soon.Great news. We will certainly visit this sight again
