When we arrived on this site the wind was blowing, the fog was closing in, the rain was pounding down. As we struggled with the awning we weren't impressed! Once the awning was pegged down, the wind eased, the fog lifted and the rain stopped, we sat and 'chilled' with glass in hand. Stunning is the only word that can describe where 'Vinnie' van was to stay for 5 nights. On a clear day you can see all the way to Filey brigg. It has to be said that we were thankful that we had the facilities in the caravan, (shower, toilet,) because those on site were basic. We tried to take a shower but as someone was drawing water all we could have was a scalding hot dribble or freezing blast, so we gave that it miss and used the van's! This site can be summed with "What do you want?" If you want a fantastic place to stay with stunning views and a cheap enough price, and owners so friendly you'd wish they were family, you can't go far wrong. If your wanting all the 'up-to-date' facilities don't bother. The main thing that we found was as soon as we were home, we wished we were back there!

We have just returned from a 3 day visit to this site. I must say the surrounding area is stunning and the walks through the woods a must. There is loads of room for the kids to let off as much steam as they want and with the no noise at night rules they were able to get the rest and sleep needed. The pitches that were available were flat and no restrictions on the size of unit. Yes the facilities are basic and you can find yourself in a queue waiting for the loo but for £10 a night and a farmers field what do people expect. The only downside is the access. We managed fine as we were in a car and it was easy for us to reverse up to find a passing place when met by someone coming the opposite way. Not quite sure what would happen if 2 towing vehicles were to meet on the lane. Will definitely be visiting this site again. My main tip.watch out for the geese!

Hello. We just spent 5 nights here in a tent. 5 of us with a mix of camping experience had a really enjoyable stay. It really does feel like your in the middle of nowhere. Its silent at night time with only wildlife to be heard. We had absolutely tonnes of space for our tent, gazebo and 3 cars! There really is plenty of room and even at its busiest I wouldnt have thought there was any more than 20 pitches taken up, and even then, you were still far enough away from your nearest neighbour not to notice them! The toilet and shower set up IS basic, but its clean with hot water, an electric shower providing hot showers around the clock. There is only the 2 toilets and the one shower at the moment so expect a short queue at 'peak' times, but, with the limited number of pitches taken I wouldnt have thought this was any different to a bigger site in August with a huge toilet block, you would still have to queue because of the amount of people there! It certainly didn't detract from our stay. Owners were happy to advise regarding local attractions, pubs etc and they were more than happy to deep freeze our ice packs overnight. If you stay here be sure to pay a visit to the Dennison Arms in the village, just over the bridge. A lovely pub with absolutely delicious food, dont order a starter or you will never eat your main ! Lovely homemade food, worth going back just for that ! This is a great site, located close to all east coast attractions, loads of space, a great basic camping experience with everything you need close by. Highly recommended I really enjoyed it. Returned home feeling refreshed and as though I had been away from the office for a month, magic !

My family visited the site for 4 nights, the surroundings were lovely, the owners were really friendly and always had time to talk. The facilities consisted of a toilet , shower and washbasin in one room and a toilet and a washbasin in the other, it can get quite busy especially if you are needing a shower! The site is well kept. My son enjoyed feediing the horse, the chickens amused him and he was very impressed when he found an egg! We enjoyed the stay and would go back again.

Visited this site with our 3 children aged 12, 8 and 2. Site is a fair way up up a green lane and you have the feeling of being in the middle of the countryside complete with bats and local wildlife, but you are only 10 minutes out of Scarborough. Super site, good size pitches, very quiet, no problem with noise at night. Shower and toilet facilities are basic with two toilets, two basins and one shower for the site, but at £10 per night and free hot water we were not complaining. Plenty of room for the children to play ball games, a rope swing and access to the woods make this an ideal site for young families. There is no shop on site but there is a shop which sold most things and a gas supplier in West Ayton which is a 5 minute drive down the green lane.

We enjoyed our stay at High Yedmandale. It was extremely friendly and peaceful, nothing to be heard at night except the chirrup of the bats and the screech of an owl. It is a little tricky to get to, up a little back road that turns into a tiny farm track which in turn becomes a one lane dirt track with five-foot high vegetation either side - windows up unless you want to be whacked in the face by a stray plant! The touring field was beautifully well-kept and tidy, although in some places not very even. Its a fairly basic campsite, with only a tiny block with the shower/toilet/basin all in one little outhouse. Despite there only being about 8 people on the site the same time as us, these facilities were not as clean as I would have expected. However, for a one night stay, they were bearable but I could imagine they would not be pleasant for any longer than one night. The field next to the touring field is inhabited by a great big beautiful chestnut horse who is very greedy, he will gobble up your apples but won't let you have a stroke in return! There are also big Beatrix Potter-style geese and hens wandering about the place and many swallows sweeping inches from you tent for the flies and bugs. All in all, it is a lovely, peaceful campsite, very cheap and filled with wildlife, spoilt only by its lack of facilities. Perfect for a one or two night stay I would say, but as soon as you're ready for a good shower it's time to move on.

What can you say about this place that the previous reviews haven't already? Not much really. SO I'm just going to reiterate the comments just to show you really should pay this place a visit. Yes the toilet and shower are in the same room but this is to be rectified this summer with a separate toilet room. It's clean, it's free and you get quality bog roll. What more do you need? Although we did cause a stir by us using the toilet and shower together! Yes the owners are friendly, possibly the friendliest couple we've met in a long time. The animals are very nice and friendly just watch for the male goose if he's out with his little ones! Basically if you want an easy going campsite with stunning views then this is the place to go! The owners were happy to freeze our ice packs too which was a bonus. This place is basically the complete opposite of Crowsnest caravan park (where I have had many great camping trips with the lads, so if you know this place you'll understand my point). Have to give a mention to the pub opposite the SPAR in the village. Fantastic food and the best side salad I have ever had. Not the usual scraggy bit of dried up lettuce and cress thats been recycled all day. The only negative point I can raise (and I'm not sure the site can really do much about it) but the insects were murder for a couple of hours each night about 7ish. Have a good one and happy camping. Hi to Janet and Paul and thanks for the lift back from the village. Hi to Mondeo RS man and your obedient dog. Got oursleves a 'Tentastic' tent after seeing yours. Hope to bump into you all again sometime.

We visited this campsite 2nd June till the 5th June Just the two of us myself and my Husband and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was peaceful and plenty of room around the tent not like some places. They don't mind you having B.B.Q. but don't burn the grass.
The owners were very friendly and so were all the animals it is a none working farm but it has chickens geese and a horse called Boris who likes apples and carrots. You are next to the forest we didn't get time to go into the forest but were told there are deer in there, We will be going again so might see them then.
Very central for visiting Scarborough, Whitby , Filey,Robin Hoods Bay, Goathland. For £10 a night no matter how big the tent or how many people I thought it was brill. The shower and toilet however are in the same room so that was a bit of a drawback if you needed the toilet and someone was in the shower but the owner said that was something they were going to look into. Didn't put us off we will definitely be back.

We've just returned from spending the Easter weekend at High Yedmandale and cannot sing its praises highly enough. After a very warm welcome from the owner we pitched our tent in a very secluded and scenic spot, surrounded on all sides by wonderful views and total peace and tranquility, both day and night. The shower/toilet facilities were quite basic, but sufficient (and currently being updated I believe). All the pitches seemed very well spaced and there was plenty of room for children to let off steam without interrupting the peace of the other visitors. Scarborough is only 10 minutes away, with Filey and Bridlington not much further. The site is also on the edge of the National Park and close to some wonderful walks both in forest and on the moors. There are also some lovely little footpaths on the site's doorstep, along with plenty of opportunities for cycling. Everything is so close to hand it is somewhat amazing that the site itself is so tranquil. A well stocked shop is only a mile or so away from the site, along with a couple of pubs (serving food) and the picturesque village of East Ayton. We came away feeling thoroughly relaxed and refreshed and will definitely be visiting High Yedmandale again in the near future.

Just spent the BH weekend at this site. Really nice. It is just a farmers field with a few areas mowed short. Plenty of room for large tents. Run by a very friendly couple. Amazing views across the fields. Ideal for chilling out but only ten minutes from Scarborough if you want the seaside. There is a bathroom with free shower/basin/toilet. Was spotless when we arrived, but wasn't cleaned the whole time we were there. Was a bit grotty by the time we left.
