We have just got back from 3 wet and very windy nights at High Yedmandale Farm but that did not spoil it. When we arrived we picked our pitch and set up once set up I realised my hook up would not reach to the connection point. Not to worry Ken was there with an extension lead to my rescue. The site is clean and tidy with loads of space.
We have a huge 6 berth dome tent and was ample space around us even though it was busy when we arrived.
There is loads of space in the middle of the camping fields for the kids to run and play without intruding on anyone.
Each morning about 6am you would see ken cleaning the toilets and bathrooms, which I must say are of a better standard than most sites. There was sometimes a queue for the showers if you went 9-11am and 7-9pm but as an early riser I never waited once.
The additional facilities he has such as freezer, fridge and tumble dryer make things a little bit easier.

Just got back this week from site.
This site as five pitches on electric and twenty five in tent field. The showers could now do with a up date, in august when the site is full with lots of children its a long wait in morning for one of the two showers to come vacant. There are two toilets in the campers wash room. But its a long wait to get a sit down.
The cost for us was £46 for three nights. For this charge the are far better sites that are just as quiet and better showers. We will not be going there again.

Another enjoyable weekend, this site is so care free, the kids love the space and been able to roam around. A fantastic walk to the village, good pubs, good shop.
Lots of space between tents, very child friendly, Rather a narrow road leading up to the site but well worth it.
Lovely walks around the woods, very enjoyable, Worth a visit to this site. The views are splendid. Only a short ride to Scarborough for the beach.Dogs welcome which is good as lots of great walks.
Friendly owners, very clean, a real must is this site.

We have just returned from 5 (was meant to be 6 but illness forced us home)with 2 adults and 2 kids 14 and 4.
Plus points-This site is very relaxing and quiet, come 10pm its silent!Plenty of space for everyone, our pitch was brilliant, elec hook up and water next to the tent and Boris the horse in his paddock right by our back door.
Great walks from the site suitable for all ages.Like many other reviews I would like to have seen more showers and loos as there is only 2 wet rooms with loos (these loos are only for use when showering so the floors don't get filthy from everyone walking in and out) 2 loos in the converted barn as well as washing up sink, fridge, freezer and tumble dryer. All free to use.
To be fair we only had to queue for a few mins for showers and never for the loos. Washing up can take a while as everyone gets chatting!Ken the owner was talking about adding more showers and loos over the winter and this would be a real asset to the site.
Cons- the lane! very steep in places and the gate has to be opened. By a cow field on a slope so the muck ends up on the lane after rain. I ended up on my bum after slipping (not funny!) lack of passing places and we always met someone coming the other way.
Its a pain having to get in the car to drive the 2 miles to the local shop (and very expensive spar connected to the shell petrol station) As its a farm its a shame they don't sell milk, eggs and a few basics on site. Your missing a trick there Ken!
We stayed 5 nights and loved the site but my older son did get bored (small games room with a tv would be a great addition for the big kids in wet weather). Lots of younger (well behaved) children on the site who had great fun running around! Take lots of games for them and they will be happy all day!
In conclusion, a lovely site, basic but adequate, great views and walks, lovely owner. We will be going again at some point.Without the kids so we can do some walking.

Good Points - The site is set in a fantastic location and has some lovely views. Owners pleasant although only saw them fleetingly on the night we arrived to hand over money. Village close by with small shop for the essentials. Fish and chip shop and 2 pubs also in the village. Close to some great walks.
Bad points - Cannot walk to local shops or pub would need car or bikes. Entry road to the site is single track for about 1.5 miles and if you meet something coming the other way you are praying that they are not towing a van! We did meet cars whilst towing and whilst not towing and would have expected more consideration from what we hoped would have been like minded campers/caravanners.
The farm that you pass on the way up is looking tired and tatty, although High Yedmandale is the complete opposite the drive up could put you off. There are only two toilets and showers and unfortunately the toilets are in the same room as the shower, which means if someone is just wanting the loo you can have a long wait.
We actually thought for the amount of tents and vans on site that this was very inadequate. Yes there are seats outside the cubicles but for a site taking so many outfits then some additional facilities are long overdue. The addition of just a couple of toilets would be an improvement.
General comments - there are no facilities for kids but having said the surrounding fields and woods are probably enough for most kids who are able to entertain themselves, but would recommend taking tennis rackets and sponge balls etc. Recycling bins on site.
CDP is better than some we have seen but as per most CDP's improvements would be welcomed. CDP is located directly infront of the shower/toilet rooms and not great for the queue of people waiting to use the facilities to see you emptying your waste; also not ideal if you have just had a shower and come out to meet someone emptying or more often than not someone who has a bad aim and incapable of cleaning up after themselves.
All in all we were probably a little disappointed with this site. Would we go again - doubtful, not because the site isn't nice just because of the entry road and lack of facilities.

We have just returned from a great weekends camping at this site.On the campfield the tents are placed mostly around the edge with as much room as you need and bags of space for the kids to play in the middle so they are always in sight from the tents.
Very quiet and peaceful and ken the owner has a constant smile on his face (keep up the good work ken) toilets and showers nice and clean as are the washing up room.
You can use the fridge freezers to keep food fresh and refreeze your cool blocks as well. No one bothers you at all, everyone just gets on with their own thing. Nice pub in the village and also a spar shop.
The site is about ten minutes from the coast which makes it a great base. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

Spent seven days here and would like to say that this site has nothing and plenty of it.
If you want solitude and access to great views and fresh air then give it a go.
Couple of important points to consider.
Firstly if you are towing a large caravan then be aware that the access is by a single track which is extremely steep in places - quite scarey and with limited passing places.
Also access to the local village pub is by this same route - its around 1.6 miles downhill to the pub and a formidable climb back to the site (and no you cant opt for a taxi).
On the plus side you have plenty of walking direct from the site and are a car trip away from numerous spots to visit.
And a brief comment on the limited shower and toilet facilities - half the queue by showering with a friend - but just clear it with the wife first!
Great chilled week

We have just returned from a fabulous 2 night stay at High Yedmandale Farm, upon arrival the campsite was fairly empty so had our choice of pitches, met the owner who was extremely helpful and friendly, toilets and showers were basic but clean and no queues. The next day while we were out exploring, more tents arrived, campsite was nearly full, still not much of a wait for facilities, if you picked your times you didn't have to wait for showers or toilets. Obviously at peak times of the day it was busy, but hey stay in a hotel if you are impatient, camping is all about relaxing and not having to be anywhere on time, just go with the flow.
The surrounding area is so pretty and very peaceful, absolutely no road noise, just the owl hooting at night. Kids loved it, we only have the one, but nearly in every tent there was a family, all kids played together at some point in the middle of the main field which is kept for playing footie or frisbie or even kite flying, barbeques were allowed and people took their dogs too
There were quite a few electric hook ups for tents and some caravan pitches as well.
We had two evening meals at the Denison Arms pub which is in East Ayton, would highly recommend them, great choice on the menu and a real plate full too, reasonably priced. There is also a fab spar shop in East Ayton, with plenty of food and chilled alchoholic drinks, everything you need.
Maybe a couple of swings and a slide might have been an added bonus for the kids on the campsite, but our boy was actually quite happy kicking a football round. All in all a great weekend, no negatives, thanks for a fab time, we shall be returning in the future.X

This is the third time my family has come here. We enjoy coming that we keep coming back and will probably come back for many years. This year we brought our dogs and we were panicking about how they would be on holiday but they behaved really well and the dog walking area at the back of the campsite is perfect for taking them on nice long walks. The campsite is about a five minute drive 45 minute walk to Ayton. It is about a fifteen minute drive to Scarborough.
The campsite is very quiet and doesn't get too over crowded. There are only two family shower rooms and two separate toilet but there was never a wait for either while we were there. Make sure you pick a sensible time to do both or you may end up with a short wait. There is a fridge/freezer as well which is for the campers use and is handy for ice packs and other items that need to be kept cool. The grass was kept nice and tidy for the two weeks we were there as well. Ken the owner is an extremely friendly guy and will stop and chat with you whenever you see him. This campsite for me is definitely a 9 out of 10.

In the middle of nowhere up a steep narrow cart track and we loved it. It was peace and tranquillity. Toilets and showers basic but clean the kids loved the open space to run around in. Lots of tracks to go exploring. If you want somewhere to relax and chill out you can't get any better than this. No allocated pitch so we could go where we wanted so managed to pitch near friends who arrived the night before. Only down side is no shop and the scary cart track.
