Sadly I really do not want anyone to know about this site, So this has to be the end of my review, Oh it has to be more than 400 words, well what can I say, this site is a gem, the owner really goes out of his way to help everybody, and it is so peaceful at night, it is the only site I have never had to wear earplugs at night, I just cannot fault it, we went for 2 weeks in July, and just got back from a week with the grandchildren,

Lovely old gent met us & asked if we wanted to be away from all the kids to which we replied YES! He showed us to a pitch & asked if we were happy & we were very.
It looked like he tried to keep one field for families & one for couples & older groups. We did still get noise from kids sometimes playing until 9pm but they were not a bother to us although some of the older regulars were not too impressed but then again it was the school holidays!
There were 2 families we felt were a little too noisy & one had a small dog that barked a lot which was annoying!
The fields around the campsite are tranquil & beautiful which I think brings back the older regulars.
The showers & toilets are very basic & were not personally to my liking. The shower never stayed hot, it ran hot for 2 mins then went cold, this happened both times I used it. The toilet area is really not private as the 2 ladies toilets are directly outside the pot washing area.
There was a dryer to use at no extra charge which was useful for drying our towels.
I would stay again but not in the school holidays & also think for the price some improvements are needed to the shower areas. Would also be an idea to have more bins within the field area as there were none & was a walk to the bins right at the entrance area.
There is no pub or shop within walking distance so make sure you take everything with you. Also eggs were meant to be available to buy from the owner but there were none at all the whole time we were there!
We paid £55 for 3 nights with electric for 2 adults.

We were met by the owner on arrival and he helped us position on the 'quiet' field. This was very nice, good open views to Bempton Cliffs and even Flamborough lighthouse.
Facilities, well, for me a bit of a disappointment, with only one male toilet for the whole site, I had to queue every time I went. Two showers for probably 80 or more campers meant queues any time of day, hence the line of chairs outside the shower block.
The access road was a worry for me, every time I went down it, I had to do some reversing to let others up. When we left, although Ken had told us of the radio deal, he wasn't around, luckily I didn't meet any traffic on the way out.
£12 per night per pitch is OK, £5pn for electric is a lot by comparison with other sites, £3pn for awning is just daft.

This site is a rural haven, as they state on their website. It is so peaceful & tranquil, yet only a 10min drive to the hustle & bustle of Scarborough.
The camping areas are spacious, plenty of room to spread out, the grass very well drained & nicely cut, though the cuttings are left in the central area.
I would describe the facilities as rustic rather than basic. Very clean, with 2 shower rooms and a washup area with 2 sinks (only 1 in use during our stay), a fridge/freezer, tumble drier, whirly gig (all FOC).
The infromation board is very informative, detailing numerous walks off site, places to visit, beeches etc. 10/10 for this!
Nothing is too much trouble for your host..
The first gate you come to says the site is for C&C members only. Don't let this put you off. I guess they can use this if any *undesirables* turned up. Also this is a fantastic *swing gate*, and yes I may be 50, but loved opening it just so I could swing lol!
The area is so diverse. With something to appeal to all, the site is a rare find IMO, charming and so quiet, no road noise what ever. Loved it!

Chose this site because of other reviews and I was not disappointed. This is a marvellous large site set in a peaceful and tranquil setting, it's about one and a half miles to the village which has a petrol station/convenience store which sells just about everything.
The site fee for our tent and 2 adults was £12. 00 per night without hook up and the showers were free, as was the use of the tumble drier, fridge and freezer. There was always plenty of hot water and the owner was a real jolly sociable guy who was always on hand should you need him but left you to your own devices. It is ideally situated for Whitby, Scarborough and The North Yorkshire Moors.
This site gets 10/10 from me.

We stayed here for five nights over the Whitsun Bank Holiday and had a great time despite a mixed bag with the weather.
The owner is a great host, he greeted us on arrival and walked us round the site so that we could pick a pitch which suited us. There is plenty of space and pitches are unmarked - no problem for large tents.
Two ladies loos with two washbasins and in the gents, one loo, two urinals and two washbasins.
All of these are located adjacent to the pot-washing area and drying room, in the converted barn and it's a bit open-plan so not the greatest in 'bathroom privacy'.
In addition two family washrooms with a shower, a loo and a basin in each. Not the most luxurious of facilities but perfectly functional and clean - and no shortage of hot water. We had no difficulties but there were short queues at times so don't wait until the last minute!
Free tumble drier- (we found it ideal for sorting out damp towels in miserable weather)
A great place for children to stay with plenty of room to run about, play games and make new friends. No playground area which might be an issue for some families but suited us perfectly. Lovely paths from the site into the forest and onto surrounding farmland and the site is located at the end of a private road so no passing traffic.
Free range hens (eggs available to buy) and Boris the Horse as well as lots of wild-bird life to enjoy.
Good location for too many interesting days out to mention. Great food at the Dennison Arms - just down the lane and turn left through into East Ayton - with huge portions (don't be put off by the fact that this pub doesn't look very fancy!)
The owner does the rounds every morning taking time to stop and talk to all the campers - he's very knowledgeable man and welcoming host. Thank you- we'll be back!
(Mum and Dad stayed in their motorhome at the same time; hard-standing with EHU just outside main farm site with spectacular views to Bempton Cliffs)

We are a family of four, two adults, two children aged six & two. Desperately looking for a quiet, tucked away from it all campsite. WE FOUND IT.
The site is fairly difficult to find (which is a bonus to us). Down a mile or so track past another farm. Once there you will be greeted by the lovely laid back owners , plus their ever faithful German Shepard which never leaves Kens side.
It is a working farm so you will often see animals wandering around, plus the children loved their horse which was always close enough to stroke. They do sell their own eggs on the farm which are beautiful & a must buy.
The camping field is vast & plenty of space for tents & caravans all spread out across it. Ken asked us where we wanted to pitch so we choose a quiet corner under the trees. Nice, flat pitches all on well trimmed grass.
The facilities are good, not spectacular but spotlessly clean, two shower rooms, toilet block & washing up area which has fridges for your ice blocks.
If you are looking for the quiet life, yet still within a little 10 minute drive of Scarborough itself, then this is the place for you. No yobs, no loud music, no parties, just peace & quiet.
Without a shadow of doubt, we will return every time we visit the Scarborough area.
But Shusssssssshhhhhh, don't tell anyone about this place, its our secret!

This was our first time away in a caravan for several years; we chose this site due to the fact that it sounded remote with plenty of space for our seven year old son to play. What a fantastic site, we loved it. Generous pitch sizes with lovely views.
Toilets very clean. Showers lovely and warm but there was a queue at most points for the showers. Facilities are basic but well maintained.
This site is for people who enjoy spectacular views, appreciate the countryside and can make their own entertainment.
West Ayton has a co op which is well stocked, there are two pubs in the village. We used The Dennison Arms, Massive good quality meals and really good value. We ended up eating there 4 times.
We will definitely return to this site Ken and family made us feel very welcome.

Been back a couple of days now and just wanted to say thanks to Ken and the team for a lovely break - despite the weather. A lovely, peaceful, family friendly site with clean facilities, even if they are basic. Excellent value for money with no additional charges for drier, freezer, showers etc.
We struggled a bit because the four of us were sharing a very small tent and the weather was unkind but had good neighbours, peaceful evenings and plenty of space for the kids to play.
Don't go expecting the world, as this isn't what High Yedmandale is about. Do go expecting nice families with similar mindsets, beautiful and peaceful surroundings and a warm welcome.
We will definitely be visiting again. Just maybe with a bigger tent

Absolutely brilliant, we had loads of plans to visit here and there but never left the site!
The owner is an amazing host - the chickens visiting every morning, stroking Boris the horse, loads of hot water, clean and friendly, couldn't ask for anything more - we are coming back next year.
Kids are catered for, they can play ball games with no problem, you are not squeezed in, which is a problem with a lot of sites - but not this one.
Come here and stay - you will not be disappointed.
