What a lovely lovely camp site.
We (2 adults, a 4yo and 11month old baby) stayed two nights in mid-August and it was just perfect.
A friendly welcome from Ken awaits, who will show you the facilities (clean toilets, good showers, good washing up facilities, freezer for re-freezing ie packs, etc. ) and offer a choice of places to pitch.
The camping ground is largely flat and lovingly tended by Ken on his sit on mower. Under the grass, it is largely sandy so hammering in plastic pegs is a joy!
It's spacious and although it was 'full' on the second night, there was loads of space and it didn't feel crowded in the slightest.
At the top end of the site is a newly planted bit of woodland which has wild grass and a mown path right round (needs about 20 minutes to walk it). Beyond that, if you fancy longer walks or even a run like me there are endless choices of path through the plantation woods. I reckon its even possible to get right through to the mountain bike trails at Dalby Forest on bridleways (it must be about 5 miles).
Close to Scarborough, Filey and Dalby Forest but also away from it all up a dead end track, which means the nights are peaceful and quiet. All the fellow campers seemed to adhere to the quiet times. The Spar shop in Ayton is not too far away (5min drive) and offers most things you might need.
There were clearly lots of people who come here a very regularly and I can completely understand why. We shall be back, without a doubt.

Superb campsite. Loved it. We were first time campers after buying a tent the day before on a whim. Came to this website and read the reviews and decided on High Yedmandale Farm for our first go at living under canvas.
1st thing to mention. Satnav brings you along a narrow lane and says you have arrived at your destination once you get to a grubby farm on the left with loads of mud and a large thistly field. Thankfully the campsite is further on. You need to get out of your car and open a metal gate and then drive much further along the lane.
You'll know when you have got to the campsite because there is nowhere further you can go. True the road is narrow but there are passing places and on the occasions we came across other vehicles no one had to reverse we had seen each other from a distance away and one of us tucked into the nearest passing point. The first two buildings on your right appear to be holiday cottages, and then 50 metres further on, on your left, is the much grander owners house.
We rang the bell on the farmers house gate and he came out and met us and asked us questions to establish our needs - tent size, Electric hook up (of which there seemed to be quite a few), kids etc. Nice friendly guy by the name of Ken.
First impressions great! Then it got better. Nice level field. Toilet blocks clean and airy. Nice showers with no time limits(even clean enough for a fussy teenager!), and information about where to go in the area. A fridge to keep your milk in, a freezer to freeze your ice blocks and a washing machine. Two sinks to do your washing up.
Large area in the middle where nice, polite kids were playing football, cricket, badminton, throwing frisbees and riding their bikes.
I chose this site because I wanted a quiet site with no unruly behaviour. This was such a site. It is far enough from Scarborough I suppose for it to deter the people who go on holiday just to be raucous and get wasted, and besides I'm pretty sure that the owner and his large dogs would have no truck with such behaviour. Our kids, and neighbouring kids played out in the centre area until the light failed, and then once everyone was in their tents conversation was muted and respectful.
The walks around the site were lovely - at the far end of the field Ken has cut metre wide paths through meadows and young woodlands to provide easy to navigate walks, and the whole area was very pretty, and with it being around five miles from Scarborough and not much further from lots of other quieter beaches it really was a great place for a base for some great days out.
To get to the local shop take a left when you get down to the main road and after going over the bridge over the river there is a large Spar with a petrol station and post office
As I said at the beginning this was my first time camping so as far as I know all campsites might be as special as this place. Somehow though I doubt it. For £17 a night for 2 adults and two kids it surely doesn't get much better? We will be back.

We only stayed here for one night as we were on our way home but we will certainly stay again.
If you want total peace and quiet this site is perfect. Located in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by fields yet only a 15 minute drive to Scarborough.
The facilities are basic but the owners are lovely and friendly. We had our two dogs with us and they were able to run free (but only under control!) in the field where the caravans / motorhomes were parked.
Put them on the lead and walk through the tent field and there's a lovely dedicated dog walk.
We were treated to a great air show in the morning by a flock of house martins, who were almost as good as the Red Arrows!
We would suggest that this is more a site for adults as kids might find it boring.

I wanted a nice peaceful 'away-from-it-all' campsite for a well earned week break from work, and I found it.
Although it was a long trek from the south (5 or so hours incl. A short break) it was well worth it. A beautiful site in an area where it seems unusual to see another person, let alone other houses. We went for a long cycle ride on one of the days through the adjacent field and forest and didn't see another person or house until we finally came to a small hamlet many miles away.
Absolutely no traffic noise at all, how could there be? it was about 2 miles up a track in the middle of nowhere.
Ken, the owner was superb and one of the friendliest people you could meet, he kept the place spick and spam and always had a friendly word.
We asked for a EHU and even though we chose a pitch at the top end of the site with the fantastic views and away from the nearest connection point, it was no problem. Along came Ken with an extension lead and that was that.
The downside? being woken up at 4. 15am by songbirds perching on the fence post adjacent to the tent calling to each other.
Seriously though, the only improvement I can think of is that a couple more showers wouldn't go amiss along with another WC in the mens toilet.
Apart from that - fantastic - thoroughly recommended.

First time we have camped here, came for 2 nights. What a spectacular camp site if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
It is off the beaten track and the owner is proud and friendly. It is child and family friendly, no noise after 10:30, which is exactly what we wanted and clean showers and toilets.
Its not the Ritz, but it is a great down to earth English camp site, in travel distance to Heartbeat country and Whitby (for fish and chips, of course). Scarborough is only 4 miles away.
We rebooked to return later in the year.

Fantastic! We spent a glorious 3 days here and luckily we had perfect weather.
The site is peaceful and quiet and very family orientated, although facilities are basic they were absolutely fine! Although only 2 showers I maybe only queued for about 5 mins at the most.
Washing up and toilet facilities were fine too, and to say the site was full it didn't seem overly busy! Ken is very friendly indeed and checked we were ok on numerous occasions.
The kids loved it here, plenty of space to play, Wonderful if you are looking for peace and quiet! We will certainly be returning!

Just back from the best site we've ever been too.
Ken was excellent. He met us on arrival and gave us a choice of pitches even though he was very busy. He even lent us an extension for our electric hook up.
The scenery was lovely and the other campers really nice.
My 3 and 5 year old loved playing with the neighbouring tents kids.
It was very busy because it was half term but that didn't detract from the enjoyment.
The evening were a bit cold and extra duvets helped and the noise from other campers petered out around 11ish so pretty good really.
Weather was fantastic which obviously helped and trips to Dalby and Flamingo land a great hit with the kids

Booked for 2 nights but only stayed for 1.
This is a lovely campsite however they do have a curfew for noise. Ken the owner expects you to be tucked up in bed by 10.30 pm.
Facilities are basic. Toilets are within old stable blocks. They are clean but I would have liked to have seen them more enclosed and more privacy between the mens and womans.
Shower rooms were being used by other visitors to wash pots. Also very drafty as door to the shower again was a stable door and had a large gap underneath.
Track up to the campsite was horrendous. Not many passing places. The ones we found were very overgrown. Also no clear signage to the campsite. Only located it because of other reviews on here.
Overpriced for what it is.

Just spent Bank Holiday weekend at this site with friends. Had a great stay - despite the somewhat changeable weather.
Ken very friendly and helpful - stopped by each morning to check all was okay, very visible around the site. Toilet block / washing up facilities basic, but very clean. Handy fridge and freezer for ice blocks - no extra charge. Was very useful, particularly as we didn't have electrics.
Only criticism was the shower, which was cold, but others didn't have this problem, so maybe we were just unlucky.
Great site for kids - lots of space to run around (even the grown-up kids). They also adored Boris - the resident horse!
Bought some eggs from the site - gorgeous.
All in all a lovely get-away at a reasonable price.

I've just got back from 10 days here at this site, starting on Good Friday and leaving May Day, and I didn't want to go home !
Firstly this is 1st time been away in a trailer tent but reaching 50 wanted comfort,I'm normally in a tunnel tent.
The drive to the site is up a private on track road with very few passing places, wouldn't fancy caravan on back and meeting another caravan on way you might be stuck then,
Thankfully didn't meet any one going to or from camp site whilst towing.
It is 1.8 miles from turning off main road, and you go through a gate, you begin to wonder if you are on the right track as going so slowly seems to take ages, but when you do arrive you aren't disappointed, Ken the smiling friendly owner showed us a couple of places but as we were staying 10 days showed us a nice spot, the grass is mown, and has lots of E H U's and drinking water is easy distance away, ours was behind trailer for us,
Weather was sunny all the time, but got very cold at night, thank god for heaters, and unknown to us at time of pitching we were to have a lot of easterly winds, next time will go round a bit more for hedge shelter.
Ken called round the campsite every morning checking all was ok and had little chats,
The showers were hot, clean, powerful, more like a wet room than shower, and I never ran into a queue, but seats are provided for those waiting, The toilets also clean and tidy at all times and a tumble dryer, freezer and fridge are there too all free!
Also the chemical waste is right close as well and hose is provided to rinse out.
This site is great for kids too, lots of space for games, running, just being kids generally, and all safe, fenced in.
My nearly 3 yr old granddaughter had great sprints up and down with her giant ball,
Dogs welcome too. But do pick up as kids running about,DOG WASTE bin also provided.
Walks at the end of field all link up and you cant get lost, but those funny flies that hover about, are a pain, but don't seem to bite you so just ignore as walking through woods,
We paid £15 a night with E H U, and we could have 8 of us in the T.T so that makes good value for money, definitely go back here. Really nice place, and every 1 talks to you, take mints for Boris,
The pub just before you turn off main road had a beer weekend and a folk concert that was relly good,
Petrol at the garage in village was cheapest we saw out and about, post office and cash point there too, shop not too expensive, for odd bits.
And on way out on the lane Ken was right about the wildlife, we saw deers, hares, loads of pheasants, badgers, 2 foxes, partridge, but no squirrels !
This place is a gem, and Id recommend it 100%
