Just spent two nights at Long Meadow with two other families. According to the warden, the site was close to capacity with 80 something pitches occupied out of the licensed max of 100. Frankly, the site could hold double that and, as a result there is a nun crowded and spacious feel at this site. The pitch sizes are very generous and there's a lot of open ground around.

The main shower/wc block is probably the best I have seen - very modern and absolutely spotless.

The site is dead level so no problem for finding your spot. The warden was very friendly and keeps an eye out, including keeping noise Dow n late at night.

The site is very well located just outside Brockenhurst. All of the New Forest's attractions are within easy reach.

Absolutely first class - highly recommended.

Longmeadow Camp Site has been my first UK campsite I have visited; following this experience, I will surely be returning again.

This pristinely kept site boasts a very modern facilities building, and pitches on what can only be described as being a bowling green.

The couple who have developed this Camp Site, are truly committed to ensuring campers expectations are reached.

They have Won my vote with full marks, and I will definitely return with my young family; they thoroughly enjoyed it, even when this is their first ever camping trip.

Many thanks, and see you both on our return.

Stayed here last weekend. For New Forest camping, we found the Tariff unbeatable for the Services Long Meadow provided, so already a big thumbs up. Long Meadow is set well off the main Lyndhurst to Brokenhurst road so you won't hear any traffic noise. The Wardens were the best we have experienced in a long while, both very very helpful and friendly. The campsite was always immaculate in appearance as were the facilities and modern washroom block during our stay. The site has many lovely walks in the New Forest with rivers and tracks to explore and enjoy for dogs and kiddy winks alike. Brokenhurst is just a 30 minute walk from the site along a pleasant track. We will certainly be returning. Thank you Long Meadow

Just left the site today and have to say its one of the best sites I have been on. The loos and showers are spotless, the site is very well kept and well run, the warden had a problem with a blue car riding around and dealt with it very quickly, though he did get some abuse from the party concerned, but it didn't happen again. Well done.

We have visited this excellent site for many years.

However must agree with the other comments made here that the warm welcome once enjoyed has sadly gone with the arrival of new wardens.

We will not revisit as a result which is a pity as the site is well located and has good facilities but having spoken to other visitors these wardens are best avoided.

I cannot accept that having spent over an hour setting up well within the designated pitch area to be rudely informed to move my caravan (within the same pitch area)!

I read other reviews and was a little apprehensive, but shouldn't have been.

This site is GREAT. It is well maintained and well managed. The owners were friendly and very helpful. We bent a little rule and they were helpful with this. Our friends pitch had a dip in it due to all the rain and they agreed for us to pitch in front of it which meant going out of the lines but they were OK with this.

I agree some of the pitches are a little close but that is only because everyone has huge gazebo's porches and awning these days ad often more than one car. The actual pitch size for a tent is very generous and they have planned room for play area's.

The facilities on site were very good and very clean. Even the older toilets were suitable. The shower block was modern and the water hot with very good pressure.

Yes there was a queue for washing up but is that a complaint? Cant be helped.

Be good to have a little shop on site that sells basics especially with so much local produce.

The walk to Brock is ideal even with a buggy! 30 mins along a well guided track.

I would recommend this site and I will return, I prefer it to the forestry commission sites and their hard rules !

Keep it up. Little shop on site be ideal.

THANK YOU

Fantastic campsite. Great location, we walked all the way through the forest to Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst. The stream at the end of the site is great for kids - just remember their waterproof shoes as it's a bit stony. Basic but clean facilities. The site could do with a little shop but the owners were very helpful in giving directions etc. Waking up to the deer in the next field was also an experience and they definitely come in to the field at night - so watch your step in the morning! There isnt a park for the kids but the space in the field is enough to play ball games, fly kites, cricket etc etc.

Lovely campsite with lots of space and very good clean shower and toilet block.

We did find the pitches a little closer together than we would have liked but overall there is a feeling of space as the pitches are set out in rows with wide paths between the rows.

So although you can sit outside your tent and feel that you have enough space, the side end of the tent is very close to the neighbouring one if you both have 8 berth tents ( the guy ropes of each tent overlap). I find that a bit too cozy but it didn't spoil our stay.

The stream in the Forest behind the site is beautiful and our children couldn't get enough of playing on the Tarzan ropes and paddling around the little footbridge.

The Deer are amazing. I woke up in the night and could hear them right outside the tent so took a peek outside and watched them for a while. A lovely thing to see and my husband was very annoyed that I didn't wake him up so that he could have seen them too.

We hired bikes from Trax who deliver to the site and charge £14 per day for adults and £7 for kids. Great service.

This site has a lot going for it, its location right on the edge of the forest is lovely.

It's spacious and the pitches are generous. They could easily squeeze on way more units than they do.

The facilities block is new and clean.

The deer grazing are so beautiful, saw them on the field a few times on midnight trips to the loo.

Can you feel a 'but' coming?

We didn't get off to a very good start. Booked in, and was given a pitch number and pointed across the field to its rough location.

The pitches are marked by numbered stones set into the ground. The units either side were pitched centrally across their stone so we did the same. The weather was horrendous for pitching, rain and wind, so we weren't having the best of times with it!

We had a break before getting everything into the tent and another group arrived and started pitching between us and the next unit. We queried this as the spacious pitches were a feature we'd booked for especially. The warden was fetched and said that pitching was to the right of the stone and 'we tell everyone that when they book in'. We most definitely were not told that and a quick glance round showed that a lot of other people hadn't been either. It was roughly a three way split between, right, left and centrally to the stone. Apparently regulars know how it works-very useful!

We offered to move our tent if we could get some help, but the decision was that it was fine and we'd crush up, so we ended up literally with guy ropes crossing with this other tent :( They were worse off than us, they had to park their car in front of the tent as there was no room on what was passing for their pitch.

I suggested perhaps a sign wouldn't go amiss, there are signs about everything all over the site. The warden explained that they weren't the owners and they pass complaints and suggestions to the owners, but nothing ever gets done-great!

Later that day, a little paper mockup of a pitch with tent and car appeared on the check in desk. We stayed for a week, so units came and went, making us look like the only idiots who couldn't pitch properly.

The shower block was woefully inadequate, there are 4 showers for each sex and I didn't go in any time when they weren't all in use. I hate to queue so I took to showering at random times like 8:30 at night when one might be available.

The showers were closed at 12 for cleaning and ventilation. The design of the block is really appalling in this respect. The showers are in a corner right away from any windows. At peak time in a morning, glasses steam up the minute you walk in the block and there's water running down every surface, toilet walls, everywhere, and the mirrors are completely unusable.

The showers were a reasonable temperature, and I don't like a hot shower, but hubby used the disabled ones on the last day and burnt his back.

Free hair dryers are a nice touch, but a mirror on the wall by them, rather than having to look over someone's shoulder while they brush their teeth, would be better.

The washing up bowls, again, nowhere near enough, just 4 and there are 100 pitches! Add to that, that despite their clean, modern, new and shiny design, 2 of the plugs didn't fit in the plug holes! Little things that make a huge difference. Far better to attend to them than have planted containers, just as a for instance. Get the essential things right, then you can start with extras. Water was good and hot though.

In addition to the main block, there's a portacabin in the middle of the field with 2 ladies and basins and 2 mens and a urinal. I know this, as the lady in our party, because the door was always open so I was treated to the sight of men using the urinal from the door of our tent-nice!

The reception is open 8. 30-6. 30, and it's where the freezer is for ice blocks. This seemed big enough and it was good to have it free, but really inconvenient not to be able to access it outside of those times. We had a ferry trip to the Isle of Wight one day followed by early morning fishing the next, so didn't have cool packs for a couple of days.

The wardens seemed generally friendly and helped out with a few queries. One seemed to always have a satellite map of the weather up on screen so you could see if it was going to rain.

Depending how quiet you like it, noise could be an issue. Despite being a good distance from the road, with trees between, you can definitely hear it, especially if it's wet.

There are quite a few planes passing over too, some extremely low, Southampton airport?

And the nature of the site seems to be quite sociable, in that there were loads of groups. The rule is no noise after 11pm and this was kept to, but it seemed to be a challenge to make as much noise as possible up till that time! Not sure how you'd complain if it was broken as the wardens aren't on site after 6. 30? I suppose you'd have to have a confrontation or sleepless night and ask them to deal with it in the morning.

Worth mentioning is the deer poo-there's loads of it, everywhere.

All this and the highest price we've ever paid to camp, £28. 50 a night with hookup. We only went with it as it seems par for the course in the new forest area. I really expected absolutely top notch for that price though, and it certainly wasn't that.

Off the site, for groceries there's a tesco express and a nisa in brockenhurst. We tried the nisa, but it wasn't a patch on the choice and freshness in tesco, so we went there most of the week.

We did the shortcut walk one day, forgot to time it, but it was longer than I'd thought, mainly I think because the majority is on a long, flat, dead straight path, so it's very monotonous. We bottled it and got a taxi back! The stream just off the site looked very tranquil and ideal for kids, rope swing and bridge, very pretty.

We had the infamous tea from the thatched cottage which was lovely, mismatched crockery and far too much clotted cream-highly recommended! The buttery in brockenhurst also good, great cakes!

New forest icecream is on sale everywhere, tried a few flavours, but really not impressed. The gelaterie in lyndhurst, much better! Bertie's chippy on the main street did delicious fish and chips.

Milford on sea was nice for swimming, shingle, so footwear you can swim in advised.

Mackerel fishing from lymington was great fun, we caught hundreds between the 12 of us on board!

Not a lot at fordingbridge, but nice tea shop with tea garden on the main street.

Christchurch was lovely, lots to see, boat trips from the quay, free water park for kids, nice walk along the river, priory, shops, spent a lovely few hours there.

We pre booked the IoW car ferry and it was, quite literally, plain sailing. Spent a while watching fishermen on Yarmouth pier, did the needles and alum bay. This was very busy, but not excessively, and surprisingly reasonable prices. £4 parking, £4 return on chair lift, £5. 50 for 20 min boat trip to needles. If you should go to Ventnor on the south of the island, avoid Merlins-horribly greasy cafe.

We were lucky with the weather and had a really lovely week in the New Forest. We'll probably be back, but not at this site.
