Just returned from a long weekend camping at long meadow! Wow what a place our pitch was lovely and roomy plenty of room between tents. Wardens couldn't of been more helpful please please ignore previous reviews, my little girl was ill and wouldn't eat much and the lady warden gave me one of her crossiants! Couldn't of been more helpful! Anyway location is the best we've been to yet. Through the gate and your in the heart of the new forest! Deer int eh field at night too and don't worry about the deer poo there's not much at all! The showed and toilets are 10/10 even hair dryers! And nice and warm. Pitching was level and lovely and quiet at night. We will be returning next year!

Spent a wonderful 4 nights on this idyllic site, peaceful and with plenty of space. The couple that run it are very friendly and helpful. Short walk on site and your in the heart of the forest. The deer that visit are lovely to look at but beware of damage to cars etc sadly a small dent above my car door with a small scratch of paint gone but nothing major and would not put me off returning. Toilets are immaculate and although I did not personally use the showers as I prefer to shower in my van, my fiancé reported them to be spotless also. We had a hard standing pitch which is perfectly level so setting up was wonderful and the hook ups were sited between two hard standings so did not need to trek to far with the lead or think about others tripping over it.
Thank you for a lovely stay and see you again 😀

Superb. Easy access with caravan.
Clean modern toilet block, hook up and hard standing (concrete slab) available.
Quiet, lovely forest location, short walk or ride to a pretty stream and Brockenhurst village. Bridle ways go straight from the site into the forest. Herd of deer roam the place at night if you are quiet you can spot them.
Nicely spaced units.
Just a down right good site. Particularly good for the new forest show.

We stayed here in August and then again October half term, August obviously was busy although the site was full you still had the piece and quiet I did find that children running around your unit and on your pitch a little annoying as parents should teach there children to respect others space and property. The Dear at night are lovely to watch and will come close to your unit.
All became silent after 11pm.
We had a second visit during October half and had a wonderful week we were very lucky with the weather.
The site is in a lovely location ideal for cycling and walking, our dog loves the water just outside the site and many children seemed to enjoy the rope swings. Brockenhurst is 30 min walk through the forest where there are all the basic shops including a tescos extra, there are 3 great pubs all offering food, also a fish and chip shop and indian offering sit down or take away.
The wardens were great welcoming and helpful giving advice on the local area, when we left site during October it was the last day for the wardens as the site was closing for winter I hope that they had a good rest during the winter as there job is 24-7 from April to October, will look forward to seeing you in 2015.
We will be booking to return in May I can not recommend this site enough, I have stayed on all the sites in the new forest and this has to be one of my favorite non all swinging basic site.

We have spent two weekends here in the last month and have booked again for August!
Everything about the site is first class, big pitches, excellent facilities and peace and quiet at night.
The wardens work very, very hard to ensure that everyone has a relaxing break and can make the most of the beautiful surroundings and do insist that campers abide by the rules which is great!
The site was completely full when we were there last but at 11pm there was not a sound to be heard, fabulous!
As other reviews have said the forest is on the doorstep with miles of walks and cycle tracks and an easy walk into Brockenhurst. We also walk up to The Oak at Bank where dogs are made very welcome.
If you want lovely surroundings, a quality site, great wardens and plenty of walking in the forest, this is the site for you!
Our dog Skip loves it to!

Long Meadow is one of our favourite campsites and we have been going there for about 5 years, the setting is perfect, right by the forest perfect for walking and cycling and we love seeing the deer in the field. Brockenhurst is a short walk away across the heath with shops, delis and pubs.
The campsite facilities were updated last year with a new shower block and hard standing area. Although they could do with a few more grass electric pitches as there aren't many of those.
The pitches are very generous sizes and the campsite has a lovely family friendly feel about it, there is no playground or shop which is a good thing and is in keeping with the surrounding area. There is plenty for the kids to do with streams and rope swing nearby.
However I have to say that I really, really miss the old wardens, who left last year, they gave the place a really warm friendly relaxed feel to the campsite which enhanced every stay. The new wardens who started this year are not particularly welcoming or friendly and look miserable most of the time and struggle to say even say hello. There are also lots of rules and notices which have appeared with a strict regime of exactly where and how to park your tent/caravan/camper including which way your door should open! Because everyone has been made to pitch in exactly the same spot all summer there is absolutely no grass left on some of the pitches and when it rained we were stepping in and out on to bare mud with no grass for protection. If they had let people vary the position in their pitches then the grass would have survived. Long meadow has never and should never be a regimented site, there are not roads or little hedges marking each pitch just a field in the New Forest which is perfect.
I hope the New Forest Show who own the land and campsite take note of the recent reviews of the regulars who love Long Meadow and employ wardens who love the area, the campsite and
Will do their job with a smile sand spare the time to say hello and have a chat!

Was recommended this site by family and have mixed feelings about it.
The site itself is very nice, pitches are very large and lots of space for the children to play and the large toilet block is great, the smaller one however is bit grim.
On checking in the warm welcome seemed to be missing we'd been told about and we actually felt like an inconvenience by being there.
Our pitch was lovely and the free roaming deer although a great site meant the field was covered in their mess so very glad not in a tent :-(
You can reach the trails directly from the site which was great and a little stream to splash in too was fab.
But lots and lots a big groups meant it was very noisy especially at night the wardens didn't seem to do a late night round so noise continued past 11. One pitch had has many as four vehicles and as many whole families crammed onto it.
Fabulous location and space but expensive for no facilities, camping in deer poo and lots of noise at night.

Having visited this site before we were very excited to bring along some other family members so they could enjoy it too.
Its the same beautifully flat open site with very spacious pitches, the main toilet block is modern and clean although the back up loos in the camping field are tired they are more than sufficient during the night.
The location is absolutely wonderful with the new forest and its trails leading direct from the site.
Unfortunately though there has been a change in the management team which we felt was not for the better. Upon arriving and first approaching a warden I was actually told in no uncertain terms I was in the wrong caravan after politely waiting for him to stop his rant I explained again I wasn't in the caravan he thought and showed him my van, no apology as he then went on to tell me that where we had parked was wrong and that, although we had parked there last year, NO ONE has ever pitched there. Obviously realising there had been changes we apologised and moved the van but he continued to be very rude, condescending and unwilling to have any kind of conversation.
Our encounter with another warden unfortunately was not much better having made our booking straight after our visit last year with the previous wardens we were informed in no uncertain terms that our booking shouldn't have been made as there was no computer systems at the time, our booking dates were unacceptable and that the prices quoted on our booking confirmation from March 2014 were incorrect. This was all done again in an unfriendly and unwelcoming manner, unfortunately this time I felt we were not to blame and couldn't understand why the verbal assault.
However it was a wet horrible day and we gave them the benefit of the doubt after all everyone has off days so carried on with our holiday and enjoyed everything the site and the New Forest has to offer, can highly reccomend Beaulieu Motor Museum and Hatchet Pond for an up close donkey experience, but walking and cycling through the forest is simply the best all round family experience at all.
Unfortunately although our encounters were minimal after that I have to say their attitude towards us continued. Four nights into our stay the warden stuck his head in our awning first thing in the morning and said 'You ain't paid, you have to come and pay your balance now!' we were slightly baffled as we'd all paid in full on arrival and had got our receipts to prove this, we said 'I'm sorry but we've paid we can show the receipt if you'd like?' to which he just said 'You the Johnson's?' 'no the Smiths' we replied, and with that he turned on his heels and went, no apology not a word nothing!
The last weekend of our stay a rather large group arrived next to us, we counted at least 9 people, despite rules saying max of 6, they had to erect a separate huge tent to accommodate them all which didn't bother us (have never seen why campsites are bothered as long as your are on your pitch) but when another in our party wanted a one man dome tent for their 18 year old son they were told no only children but there were many adults in this separate tent? Also being a very large group they were very very noisy and the cars were repeatedly hit with hard playing balls and noise continued well after 11 and long into the night most nights, to which the wardens did absolutely nothing, in the end trying to get the young children we had to sleep was impossible and not to mention us at 11pm so we left early and came home.
It is such a shame as we love this site and were so disappointed at the end of the stay, we're hoping new wardens are found for next year as we felt those we encountered clearly do not enjoy their job.
We feel this review is not rude attack on the wardens but an accurate representation on the events that occurred and our feelings about those events obviously personal opinion will vary but upon talking to fellow campers we were not alone and felt that other campers (and maybe the owners) should be aware of the situation.

Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed. The pitches are level and quite big in an open field. We were lucky as weather was hot but maybe could feel exposed if windy. A couple of hedges may help to create a wind break and privacy. It was about half full and felt spacious. The shower block is very modern and clean with about 5 showers in the ladies and probably the same in men's. The warden is friendly and very organised.
The site is about half a mile off the main road, so no noise. It is surrounded by fields where deer visit during the night and can be seen in the day also. We liked that you can walk out from site into the Forest, which makes a nice change instead of using the car. Brockenhurst is a pleasant 30 min walk with some shops and cafe etc. There is also a walk to the pub at Bank which takes around an hour to get there. The warden has leaflets.
Will be returning next year.

This was our 4th visit to Long Meadow and it's still a great campsite. This year, though, the campsite didn't seem to be as well run as previous years. Unfortunately I think this is down to the new wardens, we found the man rather unfriendly and unapproachable. We arrived at 1pm (as stated on the website) to find the office shut and after having a quick look round to see if I could see the wardens we proceeded to our pitch and started to unpack the car. As the dark clouds were approaching quicker than we liked we got going with pitching the tent. Ten minutes later the warden stormed over shouting 'name??', I told him our name and said we knew where and how to pitch the tent as we'd been plenty of times before. He looked straight through me and said 'well you need to pay the balance' to which I replied 'I have, 7 days ago as quoted on the website'. He then just turned away and walked off - very rude I thought. Whenever we saw him over the week we were there he never smiled, never seemed remotely happy or said 'hello'. This really didn't bother us but the last wardens were so friendly and always stopped and had a quick natter. The other thing we noticed was the amount of tents crammed onto the pitches. There were some very large groups of people, 6 tents plus gazebos occupying what looked like 4 pitches, then all their cars plus '8 miles' of windbreaks surrounding them! We actually watched one group of 4 maybe 5 families arrive and started to set up, then a separate family arrived with their caravan to find the other group had pitched over their pitch. Where was the warden you may ask - who knows! he didn't even turn up to sort it out. I think in the end he moved the caravan booking to another pitch. Apart from that the campsite is still a fantastic place to stay with good facilities. The campsite and surrounding area gets a big 10/10 but the present warden (not his wife) gets a 3/10 :(
