A super site in a fantastic location, the bridge over the little stream about a 5 minute walk away was our 3 year olds highlight.
Toilets and showers were always spotless. Even though there were only 3 showers and it was a busy bank holiday we didn’t queue. Staff were very friendly (ignore any reviews from last year about staff as there are new wardens) we wanted to stay an extra night and they went out of their way to accommodate us.
They tried hard to manage noise, there were a few larger groups who ignored the quiet after 10. 30 but they were politely reminded of the rules. Great cycle routes from the site. Would highly recommend the bakery in Brockenhurst. Great day out at Mudeford Quay crabbing, bike ride and picnic at Moors Valley Park was brilliant, La Pergola was great for dinner in Lyndhurst.
Thank you for a brilliant week.

A very hot bank holiday weekend was enjoyed at Long Meadow! We knew the area as had stayed on other nearby sites in previous years but were quoting nearly £40 a night for a family of 4 - Long Meadow was only £27 a night so much more affordable!
We arrived shortly after the reception closed (my bad, I totally didn't even check the times!) but on ringing the bell, were met by a very friendly lady who walked over to our pitch with me, pointing out all the facilities as we went. A decent size pitch too, with really good spaces between them - lots of room for our car, tent (icarus500), table, chairs and kids to start ball games before finding others to play with.
We were near the field toilets and they were as spotless as they could be given they'd just mown the grass. The main block was as clean and showers had lots of push button hot water, normal sized cubicles were big enough to shower & change with child in tow (there was also a family / disabled shower). Plenty of washing up sinks although husband did say he had a bit of a wait one evening.
Free freezer for refreezing your own ice blocks too - big plus!
There was direct access from the site onto cycle tracks to Brockenhurst and beyond which we made good use of.
The kids initially complained about lack of playground but survived! We didn't have hook up but as it was May, it was light til 9:30/10 so no biggy and very few site lights so husband enjoyed stargazing later on.
I should imagine if we visit the area again, this would be the first choice campsite for us.

First trip of the year and wanted somewhere reliable, clean and quiet so went back to Long Meadow for the second time. Not disappointed.
The herd of deer appeared to be confined to the camping field and at night we could hear them up close to the van, I think they were chomping on the grass but we were too embarrassed to look.
Great site and will visit again soon. They could do with some kind of small shop facility, can't even get an ice-cream however we understand from the previous visit that they did once install a freezer and sell ice-creams but were stopped by the local (25 minutes walk away!?!?) shopkeepers as it detracted from their business. I think not. Says something about the locals.

This is a lovely campsite in an attractive setting with direct access to the forest and a good walk to Brockenhurst. It is also possible to walk through the forest to Lyndhurst.
The facilities are very good with water and rubbish bins conveniently placed nearby. It is set back from the road down a long drive so there is no road noise.
As has been said, a herd of deer are able to roam freely and are a pleasure to watch but one morning we awoke to find we had no electricity and the electric cable was strewn across the road having been pulled out of the motorhome fitting by a deer. Fortunately there was no damage but we were very impressed by the helpfulness and concern shown by Mike the warden who assisted with the repair. It was much appreciated, Thank you.

Nice friendly campsite with good toilet and shower facilities. Away from the road. Some lovely walks directly onto the forest, with Brockenhurst a walkable distance. Lovely stream close by for the kids or dogs to play in. The near resident deer are a beautiful sight, but please remember they are timid and don't like children (or adults) interrupting their peace, so please admire them from a distance. There is plenty of room for the children to play and Stuart and Karen (2016/2017 managers) do their best to make sure everyone is happy with their experience at Long Meadow. The pitches are large and well spaced.

Booked this campsite but then reading reviews on another review site was a little concerned ! Fear not, this was a lovely site with friendly people in reception and working on the campsite. Yes they had their rules but we had no problems with the rules ! I even mailed them to ask if our properly converted campervan was ok, to which I received a friendly reply. Campsite had a nice relaxed atmosphere.
This site is a great base for exploring the area. You can walk into Brockenhurst through the forest. Not far. The bakery is a must ! There isn't a shop on site but we rarely use one anyway.
Site is kept nice and clean. Hairdryers in the shower / toilet areas which are always a bonus.
Only 3 showers in the ladies which probably not quite enough.
I would stay here again and seemed much better value than the ' Camping in the forest ' site which was just over the road.

We stayed for 4 nights on a grass EHU pitch. To add to the other reviews, here's our thoughts:
Good Points:
Very peaceful site, and having the deer in the field next door is really special.
Toilet and shower facilities were nice and clean (never had to queue)
Very friendly owner, showed us to our pitch on arrival, very helpful.
Good value for money.
Nice location in the forest, Brockenhurst is a 25 minute walk away.
Very spacious campsite.
Not so good points:
The grass is left too long - I appreciate campsites leave the grass a little long to protect it but it seemed this grass was about a week overdue cutting - this resulted in wet grass lasting most of the day even from just a gentle dew (let alone when it rained).
Lack of basic camp shop on site (would be really good if there was a basic camp shop on site - just for milt / bread / few basics).
The location actually works against it in some ways - whilst you can walk directly into the forest from the site we found that once you're outside the site there are only 2 routes to take - one is a long wide gravel path into the forest (and onto the Blackwater car park) and the other is a straight path into Brockenhurst - there seems to be little opportunity to vary your walking route.
No children's play park on site.
The spaciousness of the pitches also works against it a little - we found we were so spaced out that the campsite lacked a little buzz / vibe that other sites have.
Overall, we'd probably stay here again but it could easily be improved upon.

This is a good site if you want to stay in the Brockenhurst / Lyndhurst area but want a site with a few more facilities than the Foresty Commission ones in the area. Great location and far enough away from the road that its quiet and peaceful, at least it is once everyone has gone to bed.
Seeing the wild deer around the site was great and there are plenty of walks in the area.
Overall this is a good site but it struggles to keep up with its popularity, there are three showers for men and I presume the same for women, with what must be a good 300-400 people staying on site at peak times that's clearly not enough, so expect a queue at any time of the day. I would say though that the showers and toilets are all nice and new looking and were kept clean.
The hardstanding touring pitches are not particularly spacious and our porch awning went right up to the water tap, which meant you'd open the door in the morning and come face to face with someone filling their Aquaroll.
Finally I find the lack of recycling facilities on site staggering - for an area of such natural beauty it seems criminal to me to be chucking plastic, tins and bottles into the normal rubbish bin.

Site was clean. Toilet and shower block cleaned everyday at 11am. Site owners were friendly. One small complaint is that there didn't seem to be any recycling bins anywhere. There are deer in the next field which do come through into the camping field which was amazing to see them up close! There is no shop on site, but Brockenhurst is only a 25 minute walk from the camp site through the New Forest. Brockenhurst is lovely. Lots of horses, ponies and donkeys wandering around. It's not every day you see a horse outside Tesco! You can also walk to Lyndhurst from the campsite, though this is slightly further. Campsite is ideally placed for Beaulieu, Lymington, Burley and New Milton. We did a day trip to Winchester which only took about 35 minutes in the car. We would return and recommend this campsite to others.

Spent two weeks here, and loved it. As others have said, there are rules, but no problem in abiding by them, and the resident night visitors - a herd of 40+ wild deer - more than make up for any minor irritants you may have. The wardens are constantly beavering away, grass cutting, tidying, washing - the facilities were nigh on spotless. Two things which are worth mentioning - (1) the entrance from the main road to the site's drive is VERY rough - some potholes are badly in need of being filled in, and you can easily get a few things in your caravan (or car for that matter!) flying around if you enter at anything other than a snail's pace and (2) remember that there are no washing machines on site - so clothes washing is restricted to one sink in the washing up area. The site doesn't have its own internet/wifi - but there's no harm in missing out on that for a couple of weeks and speaking to your neighbours instead !
The surrounding area is simply superb - wild horses, wild cattle, wild scenery - and some excellent eating spots in both Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst. It's a very short trip to the Lymington to Yarmouth Isle of Wight Ferry too - a day (or more) trip is recommended. If you enjoy the great outdoors - you'll enjoy your time in the New Forest at Long Meadow.
