Just returned from a great 5 day break at this campsite. The toilet block was cleaned frequently during our stay. The showers were lovely, we used them every day. Staff couldn't do enough for you, they were really friendly and helpful. One of our many highlights was a visit to a superb pub in Pilley called the Fleur De Lis for an amazing 3 course meal (Highly recommended!). We went to Brockenhurst most days to stock up on essentials ie food etc at the Tesco. Definitely be returning to this site next year for 1 week.

The site is in a beautiful setting, a large field surrounded by trees, and was quiet and peaceful when we were there. A lovely 30-minute walk across the heath, amongst the ponies, takes you to Brockenhurst, and in the other direction a longer (hour or so) walk through the forest takes you to Lyndhurst and a highly recommended pub called The Old Oak in a village called Bank. As other reviewers have said, a herd of deer jump or push their way through the fence at night and roam the camping field, close to the units, which is great to see – and worth waking up at 2am for!
The only downside of the site for us, contrary to other reviews, was the cleanliness of the shower block. The facilities themselves are modern and warm, and the toilets and washbasins were clean, but the shower cubicles themselves, the inside of the hand dryers (the Dyson type) and the surfaces generally just needed a good deep clean. The tiles in the showers had the same marks on for the duration of our stay and the little plastic corner units for holding your soap or shampoo didn't look to have been cleaned for weeks. Such a shame, because the facilities themselves are of very good quality.
Would we come back? For the setting and location, the peace and quiet, yes. But we'd think twice unless the cleanliness of the showers was improved.

Just got back from Long Meadow Campsite after another great two weeks as we have every year as well as the odd long weekend here and there, our stay was as always very relaxed and enjoyable even though we had some rain in the first week, the ground drains well and soon drys out.
The Deer are great and always about somewhere, fantastic walks for the dogs and they love the fresh running stream as do the children.
Pitches are large and offer lots of relaxing space.
The Wardens are very friendly and fair they are always happy to chat and will sort any concerns out straight away!
They ensure that all camping ie Tents, Tourers etc enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay!
Love this site!

We have just spent 8 nights at Long Meadow. We are a family of 5, with children aged 12, 9 and 9. We found the wardens to be friendly and helpful, and were given information about where to position our tent on our pitch to make sure there is an adequate fire break between the tents. The pitches are a good size. We have an 8 metre by 4. 5 metre tent, but there was still plenty of room to park next to the tent. Even when the site was full there was plenty of open space for the children to play.
There were a few, noisy, inconsiderate campers, but there are on every site! There also seemed to be a lot of large groups, but it was always quiet and peaceful after 11pm.
The toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean at all times. There are 4 ladies showers (including 1 with disabled access). I had to queue for a few minutes for a shower on a couple of occasions when it was particularly busy, but most of the time there were no queues. There are 4 sinks for washing up. This area seemed to be the social hub of the site! Plenty of hot water for all facilities.
The office opens between 9 and 5, and freezing ice packs is free. The wardens were happy to look up information for us about the surrounding area, as we had no phone reception on the site.
The highlight for us was watching the deer grazing around the tents at night. Their munching is quite loud so we knew when they were right outside so could peep out and watch them at close quarters.
Brockenhurst is a few minutes by car, and has a Tesco Express and a small Sainsburys, as well as several other shops. There are plenty of walks in the forest that can be accessed from the site. We seemed to be one of the few families who didn't have bikes. We found this a convenient base for visiting the Isle of Wight, Beaulieu Motor Museum, and Southampton. Portsmouth Historic Docks was a 40 minute drive away and well worth a visit.
I would definitely recommend this site.

We visited this campsite for the first time this year, we were booked in for a week on hardstanding electric hookup. The pitch was great and met all our needs, fellow campers were very welcoming, and it was peaceful. The facilities block was totally inadequate for the amount of pitches, the mens toilets stank and you had to queue to use the toilets. The ladies were better, but the showers were extremely hot at times you couldn't shower your children safely they were way to hot, it felt like you were having a sauna not a shower. I was not impressed when my daughter came back from using the facilities to say the male warden came in and moped the floor at one of the busiest times, I find that very concerning.

This was our first ever family camping trip ( 2 small children 5y & 7y) and a dog, and I must say, I am so glad we chose this campsite. Everything was perfect and it exceeded all my expectation.
The staff at reception welcomed us and gave us all the relevant information regarding where and how to pitch our tent. The campsite itself is beautiful and large, surrounded by woods and fields with deers etc, the pitches are very very generous size ( our tent is 5 berth 5. 5m x 3. 2m) and we had plenty of space for our tent and to park our car next to it.
There is plenty of water points through out the campsite, the toilet and shower blocks are very modern and clean at all times, no queues for toilet and only once I had to wait few minutes for shower. Water hot at all times, hairdryers and hand dryers provided and outdoor wash area for your dishes was always clean with plenty of hot water. The whole site is spacious but not too busy, we never experienced any noise, everyone seemed to be very friendly and relaxed. Wild horses can't get to the site, which was a plus as I did not know how the dog would react, but you will get some deer coming in the campsite at night. The area is fantastic and there is lots of entertainment for the whole family, woodland walks, fantastic shallow stream where kids can have a dip and adults can chill out while watching them playing, Brockenhurst has all the amenities you might need, it is a short drive to Lymington and just over half an hour to Mudeford Quay for a lovely day at the sandybanks. Over all we were really happy with absolutely everything and will be returning hopefully for a weekend before the season ends and for a longer stay next season

This is a well-run basic campsite and much cheaper than others in the New Forest for our size of family. We spent 4 nights camping during the New forest show period. The campsite was supposedly full and we were slightly worried about the lack of playground area for the children as part of the site was fenced off for show traffic, however there was loads of space between the rows of camping units so not a problem. Showers and toilets always spotless. There were only 2 downsides we found - firstly for a large tent the space allocated to fit tent and car in was not large enough for a large tent with awning and car so we didn't put up the awning, which was fine this week as weather was good but would have been annoying if bad weather. The site did have a lot of large parties of extended family groups which appeared to be there mainly because of the show, some of who were a little worrying in their mannerism and attitude to others on the site. The wardens were very efficient but lacking a little in friendliness. Overall I would stay here again but maybe avoid the New Forest Show time.

This is our second time at this site, camping as a group of three families this time, and it's definitely our favourite New Forest site. It is quiet (no road noise and not crowded), and the location is perfect in many ways. You can walk or cycle straight from the site onto trails. There is a babbling brook just 5 minutes walk away. You can walk into Brockenhurst in 15 minutes.
The pitches are marked out but very spacious and they ensure you pitch correctly so no-one is too near. The toilet, showers and washing up sinks are plentiful and kept very clean. The welcome was friendly. We really can't fault this site.

This is the first time I have felt that I wanted to add a review on a campsite but this one is excellent and worthy of a mention! A beautiful, peaceful location with direct access to the New Forest. It's an ideal location to explore the forest as well as being not too far away from the coast.
Level pitches with plenty of room. The toilet block was spotless and it was obvious that the wardens take pride in keeping the site in good condition.
Will come back again!
