This is a great campsite in the middle of the New Forest with easy access off the A337 between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst, look out for the brown campsite sign. OK Getting through Lyndhurst as always is a pain but this site is worth the wait.
There are about 100 pitches, 20 being hardstanding electric (our choice) a small number of grass electric pitches and the rest just grass. The best thing about this site is it only about 20-25 minutes walk to Brockenhurst which has great pubs, tea rooms and shops. Ask the Wardens the way as it is not signposted but once you know it, no problem. There is also a bike track alongside the site and also plenty of walking options.
The Wardens were very pleasant and will show you to your pitch and explain about the site. For motorhome owners there is an excellent waste/water disposal area with easy access but no water tap. These are sited around the site one specifically had a long hose on it which helped. The site operates a one way system in the hardstanding area.
We have marked down the site facilities because despite being excellent and very clean there are not enough showers, basins and toilets for a 100 pitch site. Granted there is a porta-cabin in the main field but at peak times the facilities would be very stretched in our view.
The above issue aside we would still highly recommend this site and will definitely be returning.

We arrived early evening after a long day at work. We were in our T4 campervan and friends in their Bongo. We were greeted by some friendly staff who made sure our van was a camper and that it wasn't a make-shift one with 'an Aldi mattress in the back!' which we all found hilarious! What if we had a M&S one, lol! I think they were checking for insurance purposes. Anyway, they showed us to our pitches and made sure there was a big gap between us, for safety purposes, which seemed a little over the top, but hey. We had a lovely relaxing evening, cooked a wonderful meal and met checked out the roaming deer on-site. Lights out was nice and quiet, so we all had a good night's sleep.
Next day we had a cooked breakfast and had a lovely walk to Brockenhurst, about 20 minutes away through the first clearing lots of horses along the way and popped into the pub for a quick drink before getting back. Such a lovely place, the campsite is in a great location and the facilities are spotless and well maintained. We are looking forward to coming back for another restful break.

We stayed here for two nights in middle of May. The site is very well looked after; the grass is in good condition as were the toilet and shower facilities.
It was our second stay; our last visit was in 2015 when we stayed on a hard standing pitch. Because the hard standing area was busy last time we decided to stay on a grass pitch (I think there's 15 per so grass pitches with EHU). This was the right decision. The pitches felt much more spacious and not so close to our neighbours.
The site is right next to one of many cycle tracks and is therefore brilliantly hpositioned if you wish to take advantage of the extensive cycling network within the New Forest.
It's also a 25 minute walk into Brockenhurst where you can find a couple of nice pubs. We had a pub lunch in the Snakecatcher which was very enjoyable.
I marked child friendliness as an 8 because there's no playground. But that said, the field is very large so plenty of space to run around.
We'll definitely be back again.

Lovely, spacious site in the New Forest, we enjoyed walking with a our dog. Good position to travel around Hampshire, we stopped for two nights as a stop off en route to the Isle of Wight & found it to be an ideal spot for that. Fantastic for viewing stars on clear nights & good size pitches. We didn't need hook up but I believe this was available if required.
One down side was that we weren't happy being positioned directly outside the main toilet block, it was the busiest area which our old dog wouldn't have been keen on. We were told that it was expected to be full the following day so they would have to reshuffle everyone, the two nights over the bank holiday weekend that we were there the camping field was not full. They did move us hesitantly to a new spot which was better but again next to a smaller toilet block & whilst one member of staff went to check this pitch with my partner I stayed with the van & dog outside the reception. The remaining staff obviously didn't realise this & discussed us in a not so happy light.

Another great site. Admittedly it helped that it was less than a 4 hour drive to get there however;
Level grass pitch, new toilet facilities, easy access from the main road, Deer wandering through the site at night. (They obviously came close to our van during the night as I stepped in the evidence the first morning. )
25 minute walk into the metropolis of Brockenhurst across the forest, cream tea capital of The New Forest.
Almost in the centre of the forest so Lyndhurst, Lymington etc all within easy reach by car or bike if you're so inclined.
We did the I. O. W trip which was quick and enjoyable, possibly stay over for a night next time.
We will definitely return, very soon, however I must add the usual caution. We were there the week before the Spring Bank Holiday and the owners anticipated all 100 pitches being full for the weekend. Best of luck with a total of 4 showers in each of the Ladies and Gents facilities.
Very pleased to recommend this site.

Spent a pleasant week's holiday here in May - despite the weather! We had pre-booked and I had asked if pitch 13 could be available. We were offered pitch 13 or pitch 10. We chose 13; it has a wider grass space than some, and is close to the facilities.
The site has 20 hard standing pitches (two in use by the managers) and up to 80 grass pitches on the other side of the site. All hard stands have EHU's.
The facilities were always clean, and even with 40 units on site did not seem to get over-loaded. The washing up sinks are sited outside, but are covered.
10 minutes walk back along the driveway brings you to bus stops - in one directio to Brockenhurst and Lymington, in the other to Lyndhurst and Southampton. Buses are hourly in tnhe day, but finish early in the evening. A path behind the site should lead to Brockenhurst in about 25 minutes. It is NOT well signed and we ended up doing two sides of a triangle, taking 1 1/2 hrs! The going is mainly level and pleasant moorland with some light forestry; of course the ponies are all around, as are cows, deer and donkeys. Delightful.
Brockenhurst boasts three day-time tea shops, but if you want an evening meal then either the Huntsman or the Snakecatcher pubs are your venue. We were recommended to the Huntsman, but frankly wished we had gone to the other one. The food was 'fancified' and over-priced.
There are numerous places to visit within 10 miles or so. Lymington has a street market on Saturdays. Take the bus! Bucklers Hard is a 'must see'. There are leaflets in the site reception. A very pleasant day out.
A week will give a pleasant 'taster' to the new Forest. Two weeks will give you more time to re-visit the places you see and p[ass through and wish you had time to explore.
All in all, Long Meadow makes an excellent base, and at £23 a night is very reasonable.

We had the loveliest of stays. Deer surrounding the tent in the morning delighted the children. Nice space to play and very quiet and peaceful. Fabulous showers with hooks, shelves and under floor heating. Wow.
Definitely will be returning.

Friendly welcome, was asked how we wanted to park on the pitch rather than being told, facilities and surroundings explained and welcome pack contained information about nearby attractions. Washroom was beautifully clean and soap, paper and dryers supplied, water was hot. An easy 25 minute stroll on gravel, flat paths through wood and Heath to get into Brockenhurst, but take a torch for the return walk. Good range of shops, pubs and eateries available. We ate at The Snakecatcher, good food and service and nice atmosphere. Site was quite, as end of season, but all hard standings were taken so glad I was able to book.

Thank you so much, WHY would you want to stay anywhere else a first class site, Staff so friendly, really put themselves out, made us feel so welcome, VERY CLEAN facilities, loved the company of the Deer and ponies, even on a wet miserable day a short walk to the park hotel and spa, for high tea is so recommended. Will definitely recommend this site and will be back again next year. Thank you

Have just spent a wonderful week on this beautiful site. Grounds always have deer wandering round and visit your pitch during the night and leave their deposits so no bare feet on grass!. Amazing view! Site wardens Stuart and Karen very friendly and helpful. Access the cycle path at rear of site which for us was brilliant. Brockenhurst in 10 minutes, Lyndhurst in 20. Pitches on hardstanding and spacious. Car parks in front on van and works well. Grass frequently trimmed and edged. Must point out very little light pollution therefore star gazing is recommended. No wifi a surprise for the cost of this site and no opportunity to obtain it either. I am on Three network and coverage was fine and 3g sporadic but did come though most the time. Now my only downside was the toilet block layout. When site full you will be queuing a very long time for both toilet cubicle or shower as only 3 of each. Layout is while using sink you have urinals within touching distance to the right if on the end and view in mirrors which are a little low of mens feet under the door while using toilet. UNess there is a queue to toilets and showers to block this in front of stalls then legs and feet all over. A small but significant over site but no issues on cleanliness. Would return no problem as a little pricy it may be but with wild ponies, deer and swifts around all day and woods on your door step then perfect haven to relax.
