Arrived on a busy bank holiday weekend to a pre-assigned pitch on the play area. This was fine as we had 2 young boys but I didn't like being in a row, along the road and opposite seasonally pitched caravans - call me picky! Much better sites to pitch were in 'the dingles' - the other side of the stream and more private or at the other end of the site on 'the island'. The hook-up area was crammed with caravans and we were very glad not to be squashed on there. Karen, the owner was always around, helpful and the small shop was open the whole weekend, full of the usual necessities and nice, inexpensive toys for the children. Shower block OK, 20p for 7 min not very powerful shower and only one hairdryer in ladies, again 20p. No other electric points. The stream was great for the boys to wade in and they enjoyed making friends in the small play area. We did part of the 'Stiperstones stomp' a lovely 5k walk and the Long Mynd is not far away.

We have just returned from two consecutive weekend breaks at the Green Caravan Park, Wentnor - taking advantage of their offer allowing you to leave your caravan on site, free of charge, if returning the following weekend.
It was our first caravan outing and we were delighted with the site. The children's play area had bucket swings for our 2 year old, as well as several larger swings to keep our 6 year old happy.
The toilet block was always kept clean and the fresh flowers in the ladies loos was a nice touch.
Staff were always very helpful, giving directions to the local attractions. The Stiper Stones are very close by and we discovered a gem of a tea-room at The Bog, which had a delicious selection of homemade cakes.
The stream kept our young children amused and they sold little nets at the on site shop at a reasonable price. We even saw a dipper on our last morning!
We ate at the Inn on the Green public house which is literally at the top of the drive and they had a good range of daily specials, which included several vegetarian options. We also sampled the Boars Head at Bishops Castle, which though very noisy served good food. Bishops Castle is only a 10 minute drive away and has an excellent adventure playground in the playing fields signposted from the main street. It had zip wires and other unusual equipment including a 'human sized swing' as my 6-year old put it!
All in all a lovely stay. I'm sure we will be back.

Just returned from this site after a great Easter break! This site is one of the friendliest I've been to. Owners & staff are very helpful & friendly. The site is in lovely countryside with a shallow river running through the site which my dogs loved having a paddle. It is also great for the kids to have a paddle or with their fishing nets! Toilets & showers are kept spotless at all times. We are definitely visiting the site again we loved it! Thanks to you all

Just returned from a very relaxing week at this site. First time we have visited this area of UK and I have to say I was very impressed.
The site itself is very attractive and we were lucky enough to have a hard-standing pitch right next to the stream. Pitch itself was of a generous size although site became very busy over Easter weekend and it slightly shattered our five days of peace and tranquillity. Having said that, it was great to see so many kids enjoying themselves - it reminded me of my own childhood, always getting my boots full of water!
The owners appeared very friendly, even though they were obviously extremely busy, and took time to wish us a safe journey on our departure.
My only criticism of the site is that the showers were both limited in number and the toilet block itself was freezing cold.
I would highly recommend this site for a walking holiday and we certainly covered many miles from the Long Mynd to the Stiperstones. We also visited Shrewsbury and Ironbridge for a change on a couple of days. As far as pubs, we preferred the Crown in Wentnor, which offers good food and excellent ale. We even had a game of darts one night! All in all, an excellent site, and we will definitely be returning.

Me and my family have just arrived home from a weekend camping at this site and what a fantastic site it is too! From the moment we arrived the owners of the site made us very welcome. The site itself is a very attractive and calm place with a brook winding its way through which kept our kids amused with their fishing nets! There is a great pub at the entrance to the site which serves lovely food and good beer and at a very fair price! The area itself is so scenic you can walk for miles. All in all its a great place with a great atmosphere .

We stayed here for 4 nights in July, found the campsite to be excellent. The pub outside the site is lovely, nice beer garden. The one up the hill is worth the trek, pass the post office and keep walking! Some more pubs in Bishops Castle, about 6 miles away. Drove into Shrewsbury and Oswestry during our stay and found both towns to be really pretty ( lovely old buildings). Our little grandaughter loved the stream at the back of the site and the little goats. The facilities were really clean and the showers hot. We will definitely visit here again next year.

Peaceful and pleasant site with good pitch on EHC near to toilet block. Ground had dried out quite well considering the amount of rain the previous week. Children enjoyed playing in stream but we feel the play area needs some improvement. Useful shop which sold basics and good pub with reasonably priced bar meals.
We liked the 20p showers as this stopped children from spending too long in there which we have experienced at other sites.

Organised a cycling holiday for 12 families here and the location was ideal for this.
Chose this site as looked very hard at others and this one isn't obsessed with rules. Therefore the children could cycle to the showers etc without fear of being told of. In my opinion this sort of relaxed attitude is worth a lot.
Half of us camped in the rally field and half on the main site. To be honest the rally site got very wet and I'd avoid the pitch next to the bridge as all the grass went and the family looked like hippos by the end of the week. It's also surrounded by tall trees and sunlight is a premium.
The 6 families on the main site though faired really well and these were very nice.
Toilet facilities were always clean. 20p a shower was disliked by half, but then again it makes you think about staying all day there which in times of greenhouse gases isn't such a bad thing.
The owner was very friendly and helpful
We managed 5 very good 30 mile rides into the local area and the children aged from 8-18, so get out there everyone.
Yes it's not perfect, but it's well priced and in a good location and I'd do another holiday here

A pleasant, secluded and quiet campsite. Ideal for exploring south Shropshire. Not much for children to do - but they seem to make the best of things anyway. We enjoyed our stay but there was nothing that would particularly make us want to go there again - especially when there are so many other sites to visit. One point to note is that some mobile phones are unable to get a network connection in the area.

August was a wet month and we reckon most of it fell on this site. We were warned that the site was a bit damp and muddy by phone 24 hours before we set off, but we were not prepared for what we encountered. Were were shown to our pitch in the rally field (there was to be a group of us), we drove past waterlogged pitches until the road ran out and then we 'slid' into the field to our pitch.Trying to find a good standing for the tent was difficult as the ground was so soft and waterlogged, and as the field filled for the weekend so did the tyre tracks with water-even the caravans were towed on by tractor!Eventually the entrance became a no go area. We were a very long way from the only loo/shower block, which we found to be basic but did the job well when you eventually got there. The on site shop provided the basics and was well stocked including those forgotten camping bits. Dont expect views at this site as it is set in a river valley, and we only had the benefit of the sun until mid afternoon, but other pitches were luckier. With the kids running free range thru pitches, some of which were quite close together, accidents naturally happened. Get in the car and explore the surrounding countryside and local market towns and be prepared to be blown away, the Shropshire hills and especially Ludlow were a great favourite with us. We had the unfortunate pleasure in meeting the locals in the Inn on the Green, just next to the site, after experiencing the unhelpful bar staff, our party tried to eat their bar meals whilst the darts team did there level best to make it most uncomfortable for us with their looks and gestures. We soon left and made it up the hill to the pub in Wentnor-thoroughly recommended, try it and see. So to sum up, some of the previous reviewers state the site is well drained, we beg to differ, and take a portapotti just in case you end up on the extremes of the site
