August 2004 Very peaceful site and we were very, very impressed with the size of the pitch we had, room for 24ft caravan, awning and annexe and could park the car at the side of the van or in front and we still had room for the children to play. The shower/toilet block is old but was always clean and warm. The shop wasn't open much. Busy pub 5 mins from site, too packed for us so we didn't go, the site was fully booked for B/H but had no trouble with noise. The only downside was no public phone on site or in the pub and we couldn't get a reception on our mobiles, O2, we'd picked this site as we were visiting a relative in the area but we couldn't contact him!

August 2004 Nice site in lovely area, in the middle of nowhere but pub right at the entrance. Stream running through site which was very nice. No marked pitches and you are told to pitch where you want in a particular field. Therefore on Bank holiday it turned out to be chaos !!!! Came back one day day with nowhere to park the car and a tent 3 feet away from ours. Anyway toilets and showers very good standard and smelt and looked clean, as the site was fully booked I expected it to be a mess but the owners really looked after them and they were cleaned daily. No water pipe in the field we were in and quite a trek to the toilets too. The surrounding area is beautiful and I would recommend a drive over the Long Mynd and a stop off to watch the gliders. Would definitly return to the area but not too sure if I would return to this site especially on a Bank Holiday. The lack of organisation spoiled what could be a very good site.

August 2004 The site is okay but not especially beautiful - okay for families with children, though nothing special. We wished they had taken more care over our booking - they got the dates, and the type of pitch we'd requested wrong. Were also a bit slow to sort it out when we arrived. Would recommend ringing to confirm before you arrive.

August 2004 Lovely site in fantastic location. Stayed on Bank holiday weekend and although it was busy it was still peaceful (except for a pair of buzzards circling overhead!). The stream which runs through and around the site was beautiful and children were enjoying it. It was wonderful to hear it at night, really relaxing. The site facilites are good. The toilet block had the toilets, showers and dishwashing room all seperate from each other. It was 20p for a shower which was fine as there was plenty time to get a decent hot shower. The little on site shop was good for the basics and sweets etc. On the Sunday it was open 9-1 then 3-6 which was ample. Plenty to see and do nearby. Ludlow was lovely especially the castle. We will most definately be returning and doning our walking boots to enjoy the beautiful Shropshire hills. But - don't tell everybody as they will all visit this stunning County!!!

July 2004 A lovely spacious site with plenty of open space. Very good facilities - showers and toilets very good standard. We stayed in a tent for the weekend and enjoyed it very much. There is an on-site shop that stocks the basics (limited opening hours)and there is a post office and village stores about 5 min walk away. Family pub onsite - we didn't use but was always busy. We would definitely recommend it and will be visitng again.

May 2004 A well organised and peaceful flat site, with great facilities ..... particularly liked the fresh roses in the ladies loos. A lovely touch. The surrounding area has lots to offer with pretty walks and very good pubs within a 5 mile walking radius. The walk from Wentnor, up over the hill finishing at the pub at Ratlinghope was well worth the effort for its views and the wonderful food at the pub by the river. Highly recommended.

May 2004 Nice pitches, beautiful location... in the middle of nowhere! Pub well within strolling distance.
Shame the shop/reception wasn't open much. Post office just across the road for bits & bobs.
Shower/Toilet block could do with a bit of updating. Look out for indoor wildlife! But still usable.

April 2004 We thought we'd have a bit of trouble finding this site, but it was well signposted from the A489 six miles away. It's ert in beautiful countryside a couple of miles from the Long Mynd, which is absolutely stunning.
We arrived to be greeted by the friendly owner. A very cheap site; £8 a night for a tent or caravan, car and two people.
The site was pleasant - plenty of room, a little shop with the essentials (deodorant and tomato ketchup for us!), and a nice babbling brook running through the site. We were the first tent on the non hook-up field, but were joined by a couple of pleasant families shortly after. The shop wasn't open much, but we could see when the door was open, so it was alright for us.
All was very well on the first night, though a bit chilly. We went up the Long Mynd on the second day, which was beautiful! A lovely flat long summit with spectacular views and lots of sheep!
We then got back to the campsite and there were a few teenagers camping in the top field, which is ten yards up a bank from where we were camping. Fine, we thought.
They were later joined by more teens... then more, then more. They were a college group - eventually there were at least twenty tents with a couple of kids in each camped around us. Well that was the end of any peace. The site calls itself an 'oasis of peace and tranquility'. I don't think so. The kids were running around fighting and shouting till about half ten or eleven o clock. It didn't really bother us, as it was just myself and my girlfriend, and we didn't go to bed till later ourselves. If I had kids who were trying to sleep though, I wouldn't have been very happy at all.
Now I might come across as a joyless old moaner, but we're only 20, and were that age ourself only a few years ago - we would have had a bit more courtesy on a family campsite though.
I would have appreciated a warning from the owner. He told us where we could pitch (anywhere we wanted). Had he told us a large group of sixteen year olds was arriving on that part of the site the next day, we would have camped elsewhere!
All in all, this left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. It was a lovely site apart from that, and we were saying how we'd love to go back there, but after that experience, I don't think we will.
If you want a bit of peace and quiet without risk of being swarmed by teenagers, I'd advise you to go elsehwere :(

aug 2003 Lovely setting, countryside etc, off the beaten track. We were in the furthest field which was good as you could pitch where you liked - ideal as there were 4 tents, 2 tourers 15 kids between us, on the downside the loos were a bit of a trek through what last week would have been a really muddy field, the car skidded on the way in but as it was hot the mud had started to dry as we left!! Wouldn't fancy it in typical camping weather. Basic but clean facilities but not enough water pipes and very poor access as the bottom of the car scrapped thru as the mud treks were so deep.....kids enjoyed the stream/river. Shop wasn't opened much at all - I walked over to pay at least 5 times over the weekend but couldn't get anyone in..... Nearby field with hookups looked very crowded but was at least near the loos.
