We've just returned from a nice weekend at The Green. The location is lovely, nestled between the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones, with the beautiful River Onny running through the campsite. It's a quiet location and very reasonably priced.
Unfortunately, the site services lets the place down, which is a real shame because with a small upgrading of the facilities and little bit of attention to detail, I could give this site 9/10.
The washroom/loo block is pretty shabby (but clean). The showers have no soap dish or seat, this makes having a shower a bit of a faff.
There is no motorhome service point and the water stand pipes use garden hose, not food grade hose.
It was very noisy on Saturday night until around midnight, with (as others have pointed out) the site seeming to make no effort to enforce their own 'no loud noise after 10:00pm' rule.
The shop has a great range of kids toys, but virtually no groceries and a very limited range of poor quality camping accessories. Thankfully, there is an excellent village shop a hundred metres away.
However, the worst is the rubbish area. Behind the neat, well-labelled recycling area is a small fenced yard were you simply put your bag of rubbish on the ground! If this is usual practice, I dread to think what the size of their rodent problem must be.
Would I recommend this site it to a friend? Yes, but not at the weekend, away from the rubbish area and forewarned about the showers.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Check in was very smooth and the lady that we spoke to was extremely friendly and helpful, we were allocated pitch 14a which was a roomy corner pitch, with the added bonus of a gravel area where we were able to park the car. The only downside of this pitch is that it is at the bottom of a steep slope which was popular with kids on the site as they freewheeled down the slope on bikes, scooters, go-carts etc, which led to a near miss with both our car and caravan. The stream on site was fantastic, our daughter loved playing pooh sticks, paddling and climbing trees, this really is a great site for children. There was some noise on the first night, but as the site was fully booked this was to be expected and did not go on too late. The toilets and showers were always clean, and there seemed to be ongoing cleaning throughout the day. There is a basic shop on site, and a nice village store a couple of minutes walk away. We had a really nice meal at the Inn on the Green, but beware, you do have to book in advance. We visited Powys Castle and Carding Mill Valley, both of which are well worth a visit. The Downsides? No mobile phone reception (o2), no TV reception (some pitches seemed to have it, but our location under the trees meant we didn't) So a real 'get away from it all' holiday.

We have just returned from a couple of days at The Green, we had a lovely riverside pitch which our girls loved, they loved paddling in the shallow parts of the river with their fishing nets to see what they could catch, and the site has very pretty surroundings. We did use the showers although I have to say they are not the best, 20p gets you approx. 7mins which is fine for one person but when you have two little ones in tow not good as you have to pop back outside the door to add more money! and they are not that powerful. Also, I must have a moan about the noise. We had a family opposite of which mum & dad had a blazing domestic for an hour (using foul language) in the middle of the night the first night and had loud music both nights we were there, and nothing was done to ensure the 'quiet time' was adhered to as most people there had young children.

We had a lovely stay at The Green Caravan Park in the week following Easter, where we had dry, sunny weather for 4 days! It's a lovely long, flat site with a good mix of tents and caravans. We stayed with an EHU and many pitches are next to the stream running through it. Our kids enjoyed walking through the stream, where it was deep in places but generally OK for them to walk through if they didn't mind wellies getting soaked inside and out! (If the sound of flowing water keeps you awake at night, take earplugs!)
The site facilities are all good, with a washing up area, several toilets and coin operated showers. There are also facilities for recycling which are clearly marked, easy to use and emptied regularly so they were never overflowing. The kids play area is in a central location on the site and our kids, aged 5 and 8, enjoyed playing on it. The staff were friendly and helpful both before arrival for booking and during our stay.
There's a small village store nearby and you can get basics in the on site shop. We went to Bishops Castle and Church Stretton for other food supplies.
We spent a lovely afternoon having a picnic on the Long Mynd then exploring Cardingmill Valley which is well worth a visit, great for kids and adults alike!
This is a lovely site in the Shropshire Hills with lots to explore and visit nearby.

We have just returned from a three day midweek break at the green, and we would certainly return in the future. We found the staff and wardens friendly and very helpful. Just outside the campsite is The Inn On The Green P. H. Serving good value for money food. Also a short walk of about 100yds takes you to the village store where you will find any essentials you might have forgotten. The facilities on site were clean and well maintained, with sufficient hot water, all in all a very enjoyable relaxing break.

Lovely site with good facilities - but I would agree with murphydog that although there are plenty of signs explaining that there should be no noise between 10pm and 8am, this was not enforced whilst we were there. Either ensure that people abide by the rules or don't have any. I am sure that the families with small children were not happy with the noise that continued well into the small hours.

We returned to this site in a caravan after staying a few times in a tent over the past few years. The site is lovely with plenty of space and pleasant owners.
The playground and stream make it a great site for children. There are nice walks from the site and others that are a short car journey away. The pub and shop near to the site are good, and there is a pub in Wentnor, the Crown, which is worth the short walk to get to.
The facilities are generally basic but good, with one exception: the showers give no more than a dribble of water which is not helpful or useful when you return from a long, cold, wet walk. We did complain to the owners about this, as we remember the showers being really good on previous visits.
We won't be returning unfortunately as the showers were so poor.

We wanted to see Shropshire this year and after researching on the internet The Green seemed to be the place to come to so we booked for 12 nights. I was a little taken aback by the substantial deposit which wasn’t mentioned on the website.
It was easy to find the site and on arrival followed the instructions on the Reception door and found a pitch a reasonable distance from the facilities which were more than adequate even when there were many people on site at the weekends. The showers, toilets and washing up sinks seemed to be a bit tired but they all worked well during our stay and were always clean and altogether the site was efficiently run without any officiousness. The electric hookup worked well and except when a party got out of hand at a nearby house it was quiet at night though a rustling rodent woke us on two nights. We remembered to keep all eatables well secures! For us the simplicity of adequate facilities and the rural surroundings were ideal. Night visits to the loo on clear nights were rewarded by magnificent starry skies.
The Green is in a delightful setting with plenty of trees and the river Onny running through and fields beyond. There are plenty of areas for camping and the website has useful information and pictures of the site. We only used the camp shop for a replacement gas cylinder but it stocks useful camping items and the local shop just across the road has most everyday essentials. There is a nearby pub which many people liked but we did a lot of our own cooking except for Sunday lunches in nearby towns and one evening when we enjoyed the homemade pies at The Crown in Wentnor.
For us the campsite was ideally placed for local walks and visits to places of interest. We walked from the site to Norbury Hill and Norbury one day – wonderful views from the top. Wentnor, Ratlinghope and Norbury and other villages have interesting little churches. The Bog Visitor Centre and the nearby Stiperstones are not far away and we enjoyed wonderful views from them. The weekend Shuttle Bus gives a great tour of the area between the Bog and Church Stretton. Several interesting places are not too far away and as well as Church Stretton (and Cardingmill Valley) we went to Ironbridge (twice), Shrewsbury, Bishop’s Castle and Ludlow and would have needed a few more days to explore other places.

The park facilities are good showers and washing up facilities are good and plentiful but park wardens are rare and do not clamp down on noisy campers even though there is a no noise between 10PM and 8AM. There is a pub by site so be prepared for noise. Also make sure you do not get shaded spot on site by stream

What a lovely campsite!
We had the worst of the weather this May Bank Holiday but unperturbed we stuck it out and pitched in the pouring rain. We were located down by the river and it was very very wet and boggy.
After 2 nights of almost relentless rain, the sun shone through. We paddled in the river; played pooh sticks and reluctantly headed home.
This isn't the most sophisticated of sites but the toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained. A little updating wouldn't go amiss but this somewhat adds to its charm. Never had to wait for a shower despite the weather.
There were a lot of muddy puddles and some had to repitch due to the small lakes forming. It caused some problems with cars churning mud up in the caravan (electric) fields but ours stayed ok, even though there was a huge puddle on the pathway. The shop stocked essentials we needed but would have liked a bit more food variety as we got stuck when the pub at the site stopped serving just as we had managed to get the tent up. With 2 small children it meant we had to drive to Bishops Castle to get fish and chips. If the shop had stayed open a bit later with a few dried goods (pasta and bread etc) we could have made a meal ourselves. Didn't put us off the site though but it would urge during busy weekends to book a table at the pub as we were once again stuck on Sunday with nothing in the shop, the local shop shut and the pub fully booked. Thankfully the Crown up the hill at Wentnor came up trumps and I would thoroughly recommend its food and hospitality.
We'd definitely come back here again. Great location for exploring Shropshire, although I think if the weather was kind, its the perfect site to just kick back and relax and enjoy the babbling river.
