A nice site in some stunning country side.
The site was very quiet when we arrived on the Monday and we were told we could pitch on any of the non EHU pitches so went onto the Playing field area. We pitched with no one around and had lots of space to play & sit around in. But by Friday night the site was pretty much full and the space to play was limited to the centre of the rally field.
One niggle was we had to pay to use our tarp shade as they class them as gazebos, at a £5 a night with permission. Which I thought a bit harsh.
The 1 central toilet block is dated but is clean. The showers are ok for the 20p charge, not the worse I've used but not the best either. Always space for a shower even when the site was full. I think the rally field end of the site could do with a toilet block of its own as this is where most of the tent units went, unit mostly if not all without their own toilet facilities.
I didn't use the site shop but it seemed to have most of the essentials and also some extra camping stock, gas canisters, mallet spare pegs.
Went to the Inn on the green for a late lunch 230pm but was told food not served till 530pm after lunch. Nice pint there though. The shop across the road is well stocked should you need anything else.
While there we went to Ludlow & its castle which was a nice day out. Ludlow is a lovely place and we wished we'd gone on market day. We had one really bad weather day so drove the 1 hour up to Telford, went shopping & cinema for the day. OK if you like big shopping centre (OH a shopaholic !). Shrewsbury OK for a day out.
Best test for a site is 'Would I go back' the answer
'Definitely'.

2 children under 10 and 2 adults in a party of 4 families. Good location, big and flat pitches - The Long Mynd is very close-by. Let down by poor toilet / shower block which was dirty, farm-yard style, 20p for poor low pressure showers. All the cleaners in the world wouldn't have helped. Adjacent pub (The Inn on the Green) almost made up for it. Excellent food, value and service). The shower block would stop me coming back.

We recently stayed at this site over the bank holiday. At first we were advised that we couldn’t book Friday – Monday, we had to book Friday – Tuesday. We were a bit confused by this as surely most people would have to return to work on the Tuesday. None the less we booked up and just paid for the extra night. The majority of people left on the Monday morning so the site must have made a fortune charging for the Monday night as well.
The site is set in some lovely countryside with Great views. There is a real ale pub on the entrance to site, selling some lovely ale and really nice food. The pub cater’s well for Children supplying a wide Variety of games to keep them occupied. If you wish to eat here then I would suggest to book in as it gets fully booked very quick.
A few downsides to the site are:
Nearest town in approx 9 miles away. No phone signal what so ever. Toilets could do with some decorating, There are plenty of showers and toilets they just look a bit old and dusty. The smell outside the toilets was horrendous, glad we weren’t stopping anywhere near them.
Its 20p for a shower which is just a dribble of water, but it’s hot dribble so that was a bonus. Noise is to be kept to a minimum and no noise what so ever after 10pm. At 10. 15 we sitting around the fire chatting and got told by the warden to “keep quite”. If you are looking for a weekend of going to bed at 10pm then this site is perfect.
If you want a fire then no logs are to be used, just coal.
We would not visit this site again, and it’s safe to say we did not vote them the best camp site like the owners requested.

Visited with group of about 6 others and were allocated a corner in Rally Field in Tent - plenty of room.
The toilets, showers and washing up area were always very clean and tidy. Metered showers 20p I think.
Nearby Pub has wifi. Poor reception for mobiles on O2 but seemed ok for TMobile and others.
Site allows groups, gazebos (£5) and fires. Quite relaxed and quiet.
There is a small playground, woods and stream running through site to keep kids occupied.

We have 2 young children, aged 6 years and 4 years and have finally taken the plunge and bought a tent!
We have just spent our very 1st camping weekend at The Green and had a wonderful time.
I rang the day before to book a pitch and spoke to the owner, who was very helpful. We arrived on the Friday evening and were given a choice of 2 areas to pitch so we chose a quiet corner in the Rally Field. While hubby and I pitched the tent, straight away the children started to explore their surroundings.
There is a delightful stream running through the site so Saturday morning we took the children with their buckets and fishing nets to have some fun. We caught a tiny fish, looked for fossils, had a paddle then played pooh sticks from one of the bridges. The children loved it all, and rounded the morning off with a visit to the play area.
We took a short drive to Bishops Castle, and had a look round the museum on stilts which was full of local history. There is a very well stocked CO-OP there.
We tried to book a table at The Inn On The Green, which is just above the site, for a meal Saturday night but they were very busy so ended up driving half a mile up the hill opposite to The Crown in Wentnor. We had a very nice meal there, I can recommend the steak and ale pie!
On site, there is a shop and Wentnor Stores is just opposite the park too.
The toilets, showers and washing up area were always very clean and tidy whenever I visited, though 1 of the lady's showers was out of order but I never saw a queue for the other 4. It's 20p for a 7 minute hot shower and 20p for 5 minutes with the hairdryer.
I had chosen this site for our 1st trip after reading other reviews and we were not disappointed at all. It is a fabulous place for families. We all had a great time and would love to go back!

This site is one of my favourites. We were on the island which was slightly secluded and great for little ones as you don't have to worry about cars. There is a stream running through the campsite ideal for pond dipping. Lovely setting. There is a pub just outside the campsite which was a bonus as my hubby forgot to bring his beer. The facilities are basic but perfectly fine and plenty of them. We had great weather and took a visit to carding mill valley which is stunning, the gliding club is worth a look, the kids loved watching them get winched up in the air. Beautiful area and great site, we will definitely be return later on the year.

Back again for a second visit.
Play area has been improved. We had no one near us in the caravan field (mid-week for 2 nights in April, I'm not surprised!).
Pond dipping was great - easy to get to a shallow part of the river. Great local walks. Love this place.
Spotless toilets, showers (took a while to heat up but 7 mins for 20p is good value for money).
Lots of lambs in neighbouring fields.
The goat has gone, what a pity!

Nice site with lots of choice of camping fields, large playing field with small playing area, rally field also quite large with varying heights, plateau, and Dell 1 and Dell 2, which were great small areas right by the river.
Good for a group of families with tents, but dark and damp, also a lot of flies when we went. Very quiet in the week and managed to get a spot on our own, but became busier on the Friday.
Plenty of space everywhere and you can just pick your spot so decided on the rally field.
The toilets are oldish but very clean, enough showers and washing facilities. Well kept site, the only downside was the grass had been cut whilst long and left on the fields.
As it was wet and damp, the grass stuck to your shoes and hence walked in everywhere, into the toilets, showers, tents etc. So had a bit of cleaning to do with the tent.
The Inn on the Green just outside the campsite was very good, nice patio and restaurant and bar which sells food and good beer. Didn’t eat here, but the food looked good with daily specials.
Walked up to The Crown Inn, Wentnor, up the steep slope from the campsite about ½ mile. Excellent food and beer here, the pies are excellent. Home made, try the beef and stilton. It was a dish packed with meat and sauce and served with chips or potatoes, and a dish of veg. Well recommended. Pleasant people serving.
Would certainly recommend the site and will go again.

Stayed Friday to Sunday in school Holidays 2 adults and 3 kids.
Nice large (Samara 600 +canopy), dry pitch with hookup (if you need a large pitch ask for it when booking).
Clean, quiet site (quiet but definitely not 'turn that light out' moany!) ideal for exploring Welsh border.
Small play area and well stocked shop on site; plus pub right outside the gates (We ate there Saturday night: very good quality, simple menu and good value, plus a couple of good ales and cheap Fruit Shoots for the kids).
Toilet block is dated but was always very clean and there are metered showers and plenty of WCs and washing up is generous and indoors.
Friendly helpful reception. We'd be happy to return.

Just returned home from our first camping holiday with my partner a friend and my 2 boys aged 6and 3,
we had a lovely stay at this site, so peaceful and relaxing, a stream runs through the centre and you can pitch either side,
we were welcomed by friendly staff and told to pitch where we want to, we had a field to ourselves!
Over the 3 night stay we felt very welcome by the owners and they work very hard to ensure the sites well maintained, from seeing them cut grass to cleaning and mopping out shower blocks, always smiling and happy to help!
The ground to pitch on was perfect, nice flat and dry. The shower blocks were very clean along with toilets and washing up/laundry room.
There is a little play area which my children liked to play on, main entertainment for them was fishing in the stream (they sell nets £1.10 on site shop) which they didn't catch much, a few leaves but loved it!
Lots of wildlife to spot, many birds and saw some bats at night. The on site shop was very cheap, they sold many camping things as well as badminton sets, frisby, bat ball, cricket sets, water pistols, bread, milk, bbqs, sweets and everyday essentials.
There is also a lovely pub on the site entrance, small quiet local pub, also very cheap, only 75p for a fruit shoot and £1 for a coke. We had a meal here and the food was some of the best I have ever eaten, and exceptional value for money too!
We sat outside as it was a warm night and we had our dog and the garden was lovely to sit in, with lots of lovely flowers and also so peaceful and relaxing.
Overall I would highly recommend this site to anyone who wants a relaxing break, with very friendly atmosphere and a feel of the country, visit to ludlow is a must too especially if the food market is on!
