We stayed here from a monday-friday. On arriving at the reception we was greeted by a friendly member of staff who told me I'll be on pitch 19, the lady showed us the facilities and water points, and we went to find our pitch but found a caravan in our place, the lady helpfully gave us another pitch (no.4) next to the stream a much better one cos 19-20 are'nt good for tents.

The place wasn't full so it was quite peaceful, a couple of swings and the stream took care of the kids. The ground is soft and pitches are large and level/flat in places but when it rains they can become quite muddy, so I can't see why people would like to camp in the Dingles area.

The shop was great and cheap as with the village shop just past the entrance to the site. The toilets/showers are ok but could do with a better paint job. The Inn at the green was nice to sit outside for a beer on a sunny afternoon but found the landlady not too friendly especially with children, but the Crown Inn up the hill into Wentnor village has friendly staff and excellent food at reasonable prices.

Ludlow was fascinating with its old houses and castle well worth the day out. Theres a number of walks to be done around the area so we did the Mucklewick walk and one walk from the Onny valley pub walks leaflet (w2) LONG MYDE when doing this walk take your water proofs for when it rains, it rains.

My only real quibble with the site was that I do my camping in a van (not sign written) which the lady at reception saw when we arrived but on the last night of our stay she told me to move it cos they don't let vans on, I'd been there all week and Karen the owner never said a thing to me as I'd been talking to her through our stay.

On the whole its a campsite worth visiting, nice location lovely when the sun shines, dog friendly, not to mention the overall friendliness of the other campers there. A site I would stay again.

We visited this site and upon arrival the assistant wanted to charge me £78 for two nights, I questioned it and he told me your booked in for four nights with some to and fro it was eventually sorted,

The site is very well kept, tidy and facilities are of a good standard, the staff, what we saw of them were pleasant enough and my only gripe is that we were put on pitch no3 and when it rained a muddy, soggy mess appeared outside our awning as there is a dip, a gulley at the edge of the pathway and the water collected there.

On the edge of the site is a pub, they served an excellent carvery on Sunday and good value for money. All together we had no real complaints and enjoyed our short stay

Me and the OH have just spent a lovely weekend down there and although the site was pretty full, with it being the school holidays,it was still surprisingly quiet. The children there, being kept occupied with paddling and fishing in the little stream(.Rather than just screaming and shouting for the sake of it!)

All the facilities we're up to scratch, for the 'style' of site it is.

This site made we wish we had used our tent instead instead of the MH,as some of the areas where tents were pitched were lovely, being right next to the stream and secluded amongst trees.

A word of warning to those with MHs or caravans though and that is to approach the site from the south, off the A489.Being local,we approached from Shrewsbury (via Longden - Bridges - Pulverbatch) and we found that the entrance to the site is at really sharp angle, needing a 'shuffle' to get in!I can't blame the satnav, we don't have one.

Having said that the roads leading south from the site also have some very narrow spots(and a nasty little bridge on a bend), which can catch you out, if you meet something coming the other way!

Just got back from this site yesterday, having spent three nights there with our three children and dog.

On arrival we were very impressed with the friendly welcome we received and also the size of the pitch, which was in the electric hook up area, we had requested to be by the stream, and indeed we were. There were mainly caravans in this area, but a few tents arrived whilst we were there.

The site is quite large, but feels smaller due to the separate areas and wooded nature of it. As we also have the means to camp without electric, we would also choose to camp in the 'dingles' or on the island, as these were very pretty.

The general feel of the campsite is very relaxed, and the atmosphere in general is very friendly, with no noise at night, other than the sheep.

The facilities are excellent, the toilets and showers regularly cleaned, I never saw anything other than the odd bit of grass walked in, and there are nice touches like fresh flowers in the shower and toilet area, the washing up room was spotless, and was kept nice by everyone, no food left in the sinks.

Never had to wait for the loo or a shower, as there were plenty provided. It must be said that we were there from Tuesday to Friday, and apparently it is much busier at the weekends, but for August we felt it was lovely and quiet.

The stream and the resident goats are great for younger and older children, and there is a great range of cheap toys in the shop, great if the weather is not good. The shop has a very good range of basics, very reasonably priced, local free range eggs are cheaper than at the supermarket! Also a comprehensive range of camping bits, spares and gas. The dog walking areas are lovely too.

Plenty of information to be had about the local area, staff were very helpful and keen to tell us about local places to visit, their enthusiasm and friendliness cannot be stressed enough. The campsite is situated in a beautiful area, the hills and valleys are stunning, we went over the 'off road' lanes in our Landrover, a map can be purchased at the shop.

There are plenty of pretty villages and towns to visit, and we will definitely return to explore the area further. It is very rural and not at all 'touristy', and great for walkers, couples and families alike. For anyone looking to get away from it all, we would highly recommend this lovely site.

We just got back from a brilliant weekend at this site.

Site was easy to find although if you use sat nav you may find it directs you down very narrow country lanes. Staff very friendly. Pitches decent size and very sheltered.Plenty of room for badminton and frisbee. Toilets, showers and dishwashing all situated in a central block all were very clean and never had to queue.

Excellent dog walk with free poop bags supplied in the shop. There are even goats which you can take for a walk for free just ask at the shop.

The shop is well stocked with the basics and also has walk leaflets (the Adstone Walk if you start from point 6 can be done direct from the campsite) as well as free leaflets on the surrounding area.

There is another shop about a 2 min walk just up the road (right out of the entrance then first left)

The pub at the entrance, The Inn On The Green, has a lovely beer garden with a covered area so we could still sit outside when the weather turned damp.

The only noise at night after about 11.30pm was from sheep and crows which you would expect in the countryside.

All in all a brilliant campsite in an excellent location really couldn't fault it

Just back from a very enjoyable two night stay at The Green, we were allocated a pitch up on the area called 'the plateau', nice and flat next to a resident goat, which my daughter enjoyed taking for walking

Campsite busy on Sat night, but never needed to queue for toilets or dish washing sinks ( plenty of hot water)

Facilities clean, fresh flowers in toilet area. Handy shop on site, reasonably priced, fishing nets for children £1.20, well worth it, children passed many a pleasant hour in the babbling brook which runs through campsite.

Woke to sound of sheep, cows and goats, made a lovely change to the sound of traffic and police sirens back home! Went to pretty Bishops Castle, Sunday market and carboot at Church Stoke, Stiperstones and managed to get to Aberystwyth for the day ( only approx hour drive away)

Definitely recommend and will go again.

This was our third choice site for a stay at Bishops Castle. Since we were going with the in- laws, the electric hook ups swung it in Wentnor's favour. Upon booking up, I was mindful of all the rules and regs and couldn't quite understand the reasons for some. For example, no gazebos in the hook up field. Nevertheless, we took the Leisure Dome and we were allowed to pitch it.

Upon arrival, all fears of an anally retentive Caravan Club site were soon abated. The site is relaxed, family friendly and well laid out. Pitches are flat, facilities clean and well maintained. I must be rapidly approaching middle age, because I quite enjoyed the imposed peace. The hook ups were alright too.

We booked this because it was in the top 100 sites for 2010 and not too far to travel, plus good reviews.

On arrival our EHU pitch was between caravans and motorhomes, but we never felt hemmed-in and there was plenty of space on the pitch.

The shop was really well equipped with a wide range of essentials, toys and advice!

The kids had a lovely time paddling in the stream which runs around the site.

Although it is rural and you get the usual country noises, the generator up at the pub nearby, cranked up every 30 mins all night for 10 mins!

Regrettably our blow up bed suffered a puncture, but the owners were quick to recommend a camping shop that stocked a replacement (within 20 mins)!

The Inn on the Green pub was handy for drinks but pricey on food. It's deffo worth the hike up the hill to the Crown for better value and delicious food!

I wouldn't return not just because of the 'noise' but because we like to try different places each time.

We decided to go to The Green for our first camping trip of the year and to try our tent for the first time.

The site was very busy probably due to the beautiful weather forecast for that weekend. We pre-booked our pitch and had to pay a £10 deposit, but I am glad we did pre-book. We stayed Friday and Saturday night leaving on Sunday.

Having stayed here before we opted to try the pitches with EHU - previously we haven't gone for this option. The EHU pitches are on a separate part of the site to the non-electric pitches.

The pitches here are numbered and you are allocated a pitch. The pitch sizes were more than adequate for our 20ft by 15ft tent although much bigger may struggle.

Even though the site was busy I never had to queue to use the toilet / shower facilities which were always clean or in the process of being cleaned. The showers cost 20p for about 6 or 7 minutes which is more than enough time.

The on site store has been given an upgrade since we were last there and stocks an array of items from spare tent pegs, utensils, ice cream and other essentials and are at reasonable prices.

The staff were very friendly and helpful pointing out our pitch to us when we arrived.

All in all we had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be back.

Arrived here Friday evening ( for short weekend break with hubby). Initially was apprehensive as normally go to camp sites with more facilities.( ie Pools. Clubhouse and the like.) What struck me at first was the fields, trees, a stream nearby.) A really pretty site. Tranquil.

The campsite is divided up it would appear. We were allocated in the top field. This field seemed to have smaller tents, for couples etc. As you ventured further into the campsite there were several fields with larger tents and more larger families (maybe this is strategic in lay out? Good idea, non the less). In the larger areas there were static and non static caravans. Small tents by the stream and an 'Island' plot which looked gorgeous.

There were kids a plenty but no bother as they were in the family orientated area.

A pub nearby ( 1 min walk that serves food up til 9. Very relaxing.) Further up 5 min drive another pub that serves legendary pies (def worth trying and reasonable), gets busy, so would book if you have larger families. They have a nice decking area outside.

The Campsite has a David Bellamy award & if you visit you will realise why. The kids seemed to love it here. They have a lot space to ride bikes & meet other children.

Well stocked shop with the odd bits you might run out of. Toilets clean, Showers 20p a pop for approx 7 mins, basic showers but do the job! Recycling area, which is great as I think being Eco is important in these environments.

Only gripe, the sheep are so loud they woke me up both mornings at 4am!

My hubby & I thought this was a lovely well maintained organised site & we were lucky we met some lovely people on our pitch @ £24 for both of us for 2 Nights, not to be sniffed at. Bargain!

We would def come back but try and get on the island bit (not a lot sun down lower ground because of trees), we got most sun where we were.

Things we noted.

No gazebos bank hols

No fires

BBQs allowed if upstanding (not on grass)

Dog friendly

A fab site if you love the more rural natural campsite! A must!

I would recommend popping into the local post office, 2 mins walk that has basic provisions. They sell locally sourced foods and the bacon is the best!
