What a wonderful site! There were so many extra little touches; fresh flowers in the showers (which were free and kept immaculately), washing up liquid provided in the very homely washing up/laundry area; and you could even help yourself to a hot drink and a biscuit for just 50p while you waited for your washer to finish! There was also a cosy cabin with tourist information, games etc. And free Wi-Fi. We enjoyed a very good meal in the friendly village pub (The Brown Cow I think?). There is a bus stop just outside the site, convenient for Whitby etc. The owners and wardens could not have been more helpful or welcoming, and we would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone! Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a delightful site tucked away behind the main road through the village, not that you'd know it. Normally we wouldn't stay at a site this large but chose to as it was the recommended site for the (excellent) Roots North music festival. Our previous experience of larger sites is that you are piled almost on top of each other, the staff are unhelpful, there are copious meaningless rules, and you therefore get the feeling you are being ripped-off. Not so at Serenity. The welcome was incredibly friendly with the owner (I think he was the owner) taking a genuine interest.

The pitch was large with a great view towards the moors, the toilets and showers were spotless, and the whole site lovingly maintained. Music aside, it was a genuine pleasure to stay there anyway. In the village, the Brown Cow is a fantastic 'proper' locals pub, extremely friendly and the food, although simple, is first class and almost entirely (including the brilliant chips) home made. The fish & chip shop is also excellent and the butcher first class. I couldn't get a phone signal anywhere in the village on an O2 phone but my partner had good reception on her Orange. There is Wi-Fi available in a very comfortably furnished room. Everything about the site and it's management makes you feel welcome. Our misgivings prior to visiting were completely quashed within minutes of arrival.

Serenity has been a favourite site of ours for years due to it's peaceful atmosphere, clean facilities, friendly owners and location. The new owners have added their extra touches such as the clothes drying area, free showers and the wifi room. They have managed to improve a site that was already one of the best. The village of Hinderwell has two pubs, butcher, chippy and shop and on the bus route to Whitby. Both Staithes and Runswick are within walking distance[steep climbs back]. We are always given a friendly welcome in the Brown Cow pub where the meals are very good and substantial. We will continue to return to Serenity whenever we are holidaying in the area.

Great site, friendly owners too. Nothing was a bother. Big pitches, free hot water, washing up liquid supplied, all eco friendly too. Lovely fresh flowers in the loo and around other areas. Free WiFi, which reached us, but there's is a cabin you can use, , which is very comfy with couches. You can charge your phone etc there too. There are leaflets, books. Lots of information. We will be back for another visit. Lovely areas around.

This is, without doubt, one of the best sites we've stayed at, ever. They have a comfortable 'wi-fi' room set aside for visitors, full of books you can borrow, tourist information and electric sockets to charge up anything you like, all free, as is the wi-fi connection. The laundry room and kitchen has free hot water, a fridge, freezer and kettle as well as washing and drying equipment, which is the only thing you have to pay for. The showers are spotless and users are asked to give their shower a mop (provided)for the comfort of the next user. Toilets are spotlessly clean and fragrant! All hot water is free.

The campsite is on relatively level ground, especially the small camping field at the end of the site.

The new owners are really friendly and helpful and always willing to help with anything and to listen to your comments. It's clear they're relatively new and that they have taken on board everything everyone has said to them. The place is full of lovely little homely touches as well; flowers, little ornaments, a comments book, good quality soap in the loos and so. It really was a joy to stay here and actually, they could charge a lot more for what they're providing.

Watch for the charming ducks that wander around the site twice each day, just waiting for campers to feed them! so Funny!

Stayed at Serenity this month and realised that there were new owners here. We have stayed here before and we were a bit dubious as to whether anything had changed since the new owners took over about 6 months ago as this was one of our favourite campsites. We were very pleased to find that the camp was still as clean as ever and a plus was that you no longer had to pay for the showers and hot water. The couple running the site were very helpful and friendly and there was also free wifi for anyone who wanted it. The only thing I found a bit different was that the site now advertises family pitches. This in itself was no trouble to us but I did notice that although children were now allowed on the site there was nowhere provided for them to play. I must admit I felt a bit sorry for the kids just sitting around the tents and not being able to run around. I think the new owners are probably trying too hard to please everyone and to attract new people as well as hold onto the old clients. Unless there is more for the kids to do I think it would be better for this to remain an adult only site. We did however enjoy our stay and will definitely return.

Just returned from our first, but certainly not our last, visit to Serenity. One of the best sites that we have used in the past 20 years. A lovely site with friendly. Helpful and cheerful owners and staff. Extremely good value for money. Spotless facilities, lashings of hot water all day. Large pitches and a very sheltered site. Ideal location for the coast( 30 minutes walk to the sea) and the moors. The village boasts 2 pubs producing good food and a proper butcher providing excellent meat. Lots of good eateries within 10 minutes drive. The small touches, fresh flowers in the lavatories etc. Show that the owners really care.

A real hidden gem, Serenity really lives up to it's name. Great little site, everyone was friendly especially the owners who always had a smile. Pitches were wide and you did not feel crowded, we loved the site so much have already booked to go back in September. Toilet block always clean and well maintained. One minor problem was getting a TV or internet signal but there is a WiFi Summer house with big comfy sofa and lots of books and leaflets on the area. You would need a big aerial to get TV.

We have 2 dogs and the dog walks at the back of the site are stunning if you follow footpath to Woods but 5 minutes in car or 30 min walk you are at Runswick Bay a doggy heaven with no restrictions and a nice cafe at the end for a cuppa. Hinderwell is a little village but very friendly and the site is right in the centre. Try the Brown Cow for some good real ales and a friendly welcome and treat for the dogs. The Badger Hounds is nice but was busy with families on the night we went in. There is a butcher doing great quality meat and a village post office with basics, but only 5 minutes up road at is a Co-op.

Whitby is only a short drive away and so is Saltburn another pretty seaside town.

Stayed at Serenity for 5 days in early July, in our tent with EHU, just two of us and the two dogs. Cars can be parked alongside each numbered pitch, for ease of unloading. We were sited on the closest pitch to the Admin blocks, which was great as I could pick up the free Wifi from the WiFi/sitting room opposite the office.

Probably the friendliest site we've ever stayed at. Nothing is too much trouble for Wes and Sarah, always stop for a chat every time we passed on the site, the same with Don and his wife, the experienced camp assistants. As said in other reviews, it's the small touches, fresh flowers in the toilets and wash-up area, fresh herbs to help yourself to in water filled jars in the wash up. Fridge and deep freeze to store your foods, or refreeze the freezer blocks. Hand wash and washing up liquid free to use. Small site but still 3 wash-up sinks, inside the washing/wash-up/food prep area.

Dog friendly, with an old disused railway line running past the bottom of the site running left and right to both ends of Hinderwell, to exercise the dogs, and 20 minutes walk to the Cleveland Way at Port Mulgrave over the cliff tops to Staites and beyond if you walk north, or Runswick Bay, to Whitby in the South and beyond. The Two Pubs in the village (Brown Cow and Badger Hounds) are dog friendly as are the local beaches, but access to Port Mulgrave Harbour and Beach is a challenge to the less sure footed as there is only a steep track with rough steps which take as long to get down as the walk from the site! Local shop in Hinderwell for Bread and Milk etc close to butchers and Chippy opposite The Brown Cow, Co-Op in Staithes on main road, left out of the camp site, 5 minute drive away. We will definitely be returning!

Just returned from yet another great weeks rest and re cooperation at what it says on the tin Serenity! The owners certainly have taken to the task so well, so helpful and interested in their customers nothing to much trouble. For those thinking about a first visit do it now you will not be disappointed. The facilities are so clean and free. There is Wi Fi on site now. Hinderwell itself makes you feel at home with two good pubs, butchers(great for the BBQ)and a local shop for papers etc. There is a well stocked Coop about three miles towards Saltburn.
