We stayed here 3 times last summer and it was spot on each time. The owners are really friendly and can't do enough for you, the facilities are spotless and the location is wonderful. We'll certainly be going back there as soon as we can!

Very nice site I liked the idea of the hairdryer although it did get overheated rather quickly. Very clean showers and toilets. Owners very nice and we will definatly go back again. 2 good pubs near site with friendly people and good food. 2 small shops in village selling most things that you need, a butchers, fish n chip shop. This was a very nice holiday and looking forward to the next one which will hopefully be here.

Site is in excellent location. It is well tended and the facilities are clean and well kept. We stayed on the field nearest the facilities but found the pitches to be on the small side for our large tent (Montana 6). Looked at the bottom field and that does seem better. Think the ten pence charge for water to do dishes is a bit stingy and they also charge for showers.
The area around Hinderwell is good for walking and has a hourly bus service into Whitby which stops at the other bays on the way. The beach at Port Mulgrave, just a short walk away, is a fossil hunters paradise and it is possible to walk to Staithes or Runswick Bay along the beach - but check the tides first.
The village has a butchers who sells delicious bacon, sausages etc on buns (£1.20 for a bacon bun). It has a chippy, chemist and a village store as well as two pubs.
The better of the two pubs is definitely the Brown Cow. It is a proper traditional English pub, very clean, with good beer, good food and a tremendous welcome. The staff and local customers alike made us feel very welcome. Can't praise this pub high enough.
Only left this site on Monday but going back this Friday. That must be a recommendation

Visited September 2004. This was our first time out with our caravan and awning (had to get help from kindly camper next door) but eventually we were set up. The caravan site itself is slightly sloping with a more level field below for tents. The owners were friendly, the facilities good and the coastal walk along the cliffs is fabulous. We went down as far as Runswick Bay, had an excellent lunch in the pub at the top of the hill and only just managed to drag ourselves back (complete with two very tired dogs). For those who like an early start there was a very helpful cockerel next door! Well worth a visit.

First time visiting this campsite and I would certainly recommend it. The owners were very helpful when I phoned up and asked if they had room for one tent and two adults on Sunday of the bank holiday weekend. We arrived at the site around 5pm and were shown to our pitch. Good size, reasonably flat and surrounded by other tents, not caravans (as they are pitched in a seperate field). Although the site was quite full it didn't feel cramped as the pitches are a good size. After pitching the tent we went for a wander around the village. There is a pub pratically at the end of the drive from the campsite and a local shop just 5 mins walk away. Runswick Bay is about 1.5 miles away. We took the car for this trip as we wanted to go into Whitby too (which is 9 miles away) and I'm glad we did! The hill into Runswick Bay is extremely steep! Back at the campsite and due to the wind, there were very few people sat outside. If you're in the tent field on the right hand side on the main entrance it can get quite windy and we saw quite a few people with wind breaks (good idea for future outings!) However at least the wind stops any wee beasties from attacking! The site is advertised as "predominantly adults" although I did see quite a few children on the site (mainly toddlers), one of which began crying very early on Sunday morning. Can't say I was impressed by this but then again it doesn't say "adults only". The facilities were very clean and I saw them being cleaned at least twice whilst we were there (which was just for one night). Good, clean, well looked after site. Definitely worth the £11.00 we paid for one night.

Stayed for three nights August 2006. Booked because is said mainly adults and had no problems with children. Very clean site - toilets and showers exceptionally clean. Unfortunately no electric hook up available for tents but we should have booked that being August. Camped in field furthest away from toilets - very flat and quiet but quite a walk to facilities. Downside - showers and hot water for washing up was chargeable (20p and 10p respectively) which I felt was a bit much considering the cost of camping - £5 pppn plus £1 for car! which I could not understand. Having said all that I would recommend this site for anyone wanting a quiet site with clean amenities.

This site could not have been better for our needs, well appointed and very clean, the owners never stopped looking after you in good friendly way. Located in a peaceful village with every thing you would need. We had seven nights there and we only used the car for two of those days. We are strollers not walkers so when we had strolled enough we caught the local bus back, we used the service that went through all the small villages on route from Whitby to Middlesbrough three times I was shocked to find they ran on time. The local pubs were very good, also there is a pub at Port mulgrave 600yds from Serenity called the Ship that we were very pleased with, good bear and food. This site is a must.

A lovely site with excellent facilities which are clean and well maintained. Nearly all adults so very peaceful. Very friendly and helpful owners too. We had a really relaxing week there, and even managed to walk to Staithes along the Cleavland Way which was great, if very hot!

This was our first camping trip, and what a great start to camping it was! The site is lovely, very friendly, helpful owners, lovely grassy pitches, and a nice dog walk straight out of the gate in the bottom tent field. The facilities are great, very modern and clean, the showers are lovely and very powerful, just what we needed after a hot day's walking. There is a freezer to pop your freezer packs in, and a washer, drier and spin dryer available for use. Very highly recommended, we're going back next week!

We visited here during the hottest time up to now. The weather was too nice for words, the site is well run , not crowded, not noisy, clean, friendly, what more can I say. Pubs nearby (not used by us but others say alright), everything to hand. Wonderful site would visit again.
