We arrived on Sunday afternoon and given a friendly welcome, we were given advice where to pitch the tent as it was quite windy when we arrived. The amenities were explained to us as it was our first time here. It seemed a fairly quiet day, there were several caravans but we were first tent to arrive in the top field farthest from the showers and toilets but we got the most sheltered spot.
Everything clean and tidy and peaceful no complaints. Showers 20p coin hot and long, hot water for washing up 10p - alos hot and plenty.
We would use this site again.
Handy for Staithes and surrounding area. Local coop shop 5 mins down the road selling most provisions, 2 pubs in walking distance. We drank in both but cooked our own food on portable bbq and camping stove.

Just had 2 nights in our tent with our dog, excellent facilities. Nice little pond at bottom of field lot of feathered friends about. Very nice people cant do enough for you.
Toilets and showers are very clean washing pots area is excellent like being in your own kitchen with washer drier fridge freezer all for you to use.
Close to pubs nice walk to runswick bay but the hill is too steep to walk back up go down in car, definitely going to go back. Not too far to go into whitby excellent

Just enjoyed a lovely peaceful 3 nights at serenity. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful and they work hard to make sure all facilities are kept nice and clean for their guests.
Super food at the Brown Cow pub in the village. The beach at runswick is to be seen to be enjoyed free parking after 18.00pm then enjoy a stroll along the beach. People look for fossils along the cliffs, also pieces of whitby jet, also mackerel fishing is possible from the shoreline in this lovely little spot.

Once again I visited this site, about the 10th time we've visited, and once again it was brilliant.
We booked with 2 other couples each of which had small children, 3 kids in total.
We were asked to pitch in the bottom field which is still as spacious as the top field only further to walk to the loo's etc, but that's not far and to be honest if you walk past the pond you can take a look at the ducks etc on your way.
The bottom field also segregates the kids from the adults, or so you'd think, we had an adults only couple next to our party so they must have thought what's happening with all these kids about, I'd have thought they would have been better pitching in the top field so they were out of the way of the kids if that's what bothered them.
We had a wonderful time again at this site but unfortunately it will be our last, we tend to go with other parties who have kids and we've got one on the way, the site owners have now told us they've had complaints about noisy children so they are limiting the amount of children on the site at any one time, which is fair enough but I'm afraid it rules us out of booking any further stays at this site.
Please don't be put of from my views because it is a wonderful site and the owners are great, its just unfortunate we happened to stay when someone's complained.
I can't see why the site can't be separated in 2 halves, if you have kids you can stay in the bottom field and the adults in the top if you so wish, It would at least mean we could book again.

We’ve stayed at this site about 4 times now. It is fantastic. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The pitches are a very generous size and the site is set in a really quiet, peaceful location with good village amenities within a 2 minutes stroll.
However, the beautiful North Yorkshire coast and the Yorkshire Dales are easily accessible. A great base for exploring the area.
We have camped in a tent but upgraded to a trailer tent. This was our first trip out, and having had no experience of erecting a TT, we would have been completely stumped if it hadn’t been for the assistance of a fellow camper and one of the owners of the site. If either of you are reading this, many thanks!
We have family a short drive from the site and they turned up for approximately an hour and a half on the Saturday afternoon to view our new purchase. I apologise if my visitors gave a fellow reviewer the impression that this was a noisy site, because nothing could be further from the truth. I spoke to the guy a number of times over the weekend and there was no indication from him that he found us noisy, because apart from the visit from our guests, we were out all day and in bed by 10 every night.
From time to time there are kids on site (usually young children and well behaved), but for the most part, it is a well run, predominantly adult site.

This is not an Adults only campsite. There were as many kids as adults there.
The pitches are very nice, the showers/toilets are clean and tidy (20p for the showers), the site is beautiful with dovecotes and duck ponds.
Lovely village with chippy, post office and two pubs. 'the Brown cow' is a lovely traditional pub with great homemade food. The 'badgers hound' is more commercial and not half as friendly. There is a 'co-op' a few miles down the road for your shopping.
Overall a lovely place - hope they deal with the children issue - maybe they should allocate one of the camping fields to non-children and the big one to family camping.

When we first arrived we were a bit put off because the tent opposite had got loads of visitors. The pitch we had was a little uneven and it was a bit noisy. After we had settled in it was fantastic, the owners we're so friendly and the views from the site are brilliant.
People on here have moaned about paying 20p for a shower, let me tell you the showers are worth every penny, hot and very powerful, another moan people had was 10p for dishwashing, come on 10p is nothing and you get a full sink of red hot water.
Just out of the site entrance there is a butchers, chip shop two pubs and a shop come post office. Within half a hours walk we were on Runswick Bay which is a beautiful little cove, half hours walk in the opposite direction and we were at Port Mulgrave, from here we walked along the cliff tops to the lovely little fishing village of Staithes, about 1 hour.
This site was so nice we had three days of rain and enjoyed every minute of it. The toilets and showers were always very clean with piped music.

Another return visit for us. A lovely quiet site, outstanding facilities, and in a great location. We were very unlucky on one of the nights that a very small group of people in one corner of the field were extremely loud until about 1am in the morning - and they really were of an age that should have known better considering the subjects of their conversation and how far their voices travelled, but other than that no problems - and we will return again.
I do understand the confusion regarding children or no children though. There were a handful of kids when we were there, and there were absolutely no problems as the children in our area were extremely well behaved and quiet, although I'm not sure how well behaved and quiet a 'terrible two's' might be, and we saw a couple of those during our stay. But I can also appreciate the fact that adult only sites in that particular area are few and far between, and Serenity isn't really geared up to kids, there are no play areas and its supposed to be a quiet site (Serenity) - so perhaps better just to bite the bullet and make it completely adults only perhaps - or as others suggest - split the fields up perhaps. Whichever way, we shall continue to visit as we really love this site and the surrounding areas.

Absolutely brilliant. As I first time camper I was very impressed with this site which is set is beautiful surroundings
Hot powerful showers. Toilets were very clean.
Its 20p to use the shower - 20p to use the electric socket in the changing area - ideal for using straighteners etc.
I was also impressed that there was a washer and dryer at the site. Think the waster was £2 to use and the dryer was 50p.
Cant think of any negative points with this site.
Excellent campsite!

A very friendly and peaceful site; just as its name suggests. We stayed for a long weekend in mid August. The owners are very pleasant and helpful.
The site is in an excellent location for exploring the best that North Yorkshire can offer – and for venturing further North into Cleveland (Saltburn-by-the-Sea is only a short drive away, and worth a look).
Very close to three 'must sees' if you’ve never been around here before: Whitby (need I say more), Runswick Bay and Staithes – the later two being beautiful fishing villages.
I will not repeat what others have stated about the site, its facilities or the local village of Hinderwell’s amenities as they were all excellent and I want to keep this brief.
A top notch site for a nice peaceful stay in an ideal location. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would definitely consider returning again if I’m up this neck of the woods.
