Stayed on this site over easer and expected it to be packed. What a nice surprise. There were a few caravans and motorhomes there, but not crowded at all. Place is under new ownership now, but the high standards seem the same. Excellent facilities and the showers were free- don't know if that's a permanent change or not. We had electric hook up, and it did trip on two occasions (don't think it was down to us) but this was rectified within minutes both times. Tried both pubs. Ate at the brown cow and the food was good. Pleasant village, in easy reach of other places of interest. Only saw one child on the site so it was lovely and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.

Yet another great weekend away. What a brilliant site, with owners who really care! Alot of water underfoot but that did not spoil the break. Facilities so bright, clean and warm. Sampled fish and chips from the local chippy, very tasty and fresh. Useful info on local walks in the area. We had a great Saturday walking along part of the Cleveland Way. Have booked for week in 2013. Thank you Pat and Nigel.

Our first visit to this site - we found it lived up to our expectations (good reviews previously)- well run by the owners, very tidy and clean, all facilities in good working order and decent condition. Bathrooms always fresh smelling & spotlessly clean. Good area for washing/drying/freezer etc, with helpful local information on things to do/see in the area.
The pitches were adequately spaced, grass cut and relatively dry and bog-free. All other users were quiet and considerate, many owned dogs (like ourselves), some were 'frequent guests' - always a good sign. Local store and butcher very handy - a short trot up the lane, 2 local pubs serving food (did not try, but heard good reports), and a Fish & Chip shop (we did sample = very tasty!). Lovely cliff walks for miles and miles, with the option of return by bus if you are flagging; the dogs thoroughly enjoyed (as did we!).
Highly recommend for those wanting peace & quiet. We will certainly return! Thanks Pat & Nigel - your site is a credit to you both

We stayed on this site in their rented smaller tourer, as we wanted to try before we considered buying one. The site then was advertised as 'predominantly adults' but the lady was happy for us to come with our children as long as they were well behaved.
The site was in a near perfect location (I won't repeat the other reviews) but staithes and runswick bay were enough to bring anyone back to this lovely area! Super village facilities: 2 pubs, post office, shop, fish and chip shop.
We DID end up buying a tourer after we tried theirs (it was a little tired but ideal for what we wanted and very reasonable priced). We were a little put off returning to the site because of the 'adults' rule. Quite by chance I stumbled across the site again online and note that the 'adults' rule appears to have been removed from their website, I also note that the site appears to be under new ownership. I wish I'd seen this earlier in the season as it would been a real contender for this years bookings if I had known this. One for next year I hope though!

Just come back from an excellent weekend break. Such a well set up clean and well organised site. Plenty of room between vans. Toilet/Shower so clean, bright and really good value. Washing up facilities again so well organised and in full working order. The owners make you so welcome and are always busy keeping the site up to their obviously very high standards.
It has to be said that it is very dog friendly and our dog enjoyed the stay just as much we did.

Had a lovely peaceful 3 days at serenity. The weather was perfect. Owner showed us to the field and gave us the option of where we wanted to pitch. The field we were in was on a slope, with furrows, but because we pitched our little tent by the side of the hedge it didn't make any difference.
The toilets are lovely well maintained and kept clean. You need to pay for showers, hairdryers and electric for tongues, straighteners etc, so take a few 20p pieces. You also need to pay 10p for hot water, for washing up, but we just did ours with the extra kettle water, by our tent. There is recycling for your waste, and in the utility area there are books and magazines to read, we sat here and read a little at night, as our lighting in the tent wasn't so good. We walked into runswick bay, down the hill, and onto the sand. Had a cuppa and a slice of cake in the lovely cafe, at the bottom of the hill overlooking the sea.
All in all a lovely friendly campsite, but for us it was the peace and quiet that secured it, and the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings

Just had a week at this camp site it is a quiet site which we loved.
The only downside which we found was the camping field was very uneven they do have a camping field at the bottom but this has not electric so if your not to bothered about a electric hook up and a bit of a walk to the toilet’s ask to go down there.
It cost 20p for the showers now this last for about 4-5 minutes which we founds was enough time but beware the clock starts ticking down as soon as you put your 20p in.
Washing up room hot water is 10p now this runs all the sinks in there!.
The site is kept clean all the time by the owners.
In the village they have a post office, Butchers, Hair dressers, Fish & chip shop which we found very good and two pubs.
Would I go back yes if it was closer to home.

Just returned from what was only our second outing in our newly acquired tourer. Serenity was easy to find and we didn't have any problems accessing the site, even though it is a bit narrow. We were warmly welcomed by the very friendly owners who directed us to a level pitch at the bottom of the touring field. Our cable wasn't long enough to reach the hook-up so the owner lent us his extension. There was water and bins nearby, but it would have been handy if there was also waste disposal, instead of having to drag the container back to the main toilet/shower block.
The toilets and showers were very clean and never crowded, with soap and hot water in good supply. There are two pubs within a short walk. The Badger Hounds is nearest, good selection of beer including cask, good prices for food and drink. We looked at the menu with a view to eating there the following night but were told they were hosting a wedding party so no food. The night we were there (Friday) they had loud music and the Karaoke was about to follow, didn't stay. Next was the Brown Cow, friendly barmaid and a few locals round the bar, we soon got chatting. Went back following night to eat and really enjoyed it, food and wine well priced and very good service.
The site is well placed for Staithes, Port Mulgrave and Runswick Bay, a good circular walk on a fine day. Scaling reservoir is nearby with sailing, bird watching hide and a footpath right round. I'm sure we will visit this site again. Lots to see in the area and Whitby just 9 miles away, the bus runs through Hinderwell if you want to leave the car behind.

Returned home from site today, weather has been very kind,
Site is on a slight slope but this caused no problem with my tent ( large )
Toilets, wash facilities and showers spotless at all times, dishwash area absolutely great,
Nigel and pat are around the site at all times and go to great lengths to ensure site is as it should be,
The view from the site is spectacular,
Nearby is 2 public houses, a chip shop and shop and post office,
Convenient for whitby, redcar, lyle, staithes and goathland ( adensfield ),
Looking forward to staying on site again next year,

A quiet predominantly adult site, well located for Runswick Bay and Staithes.
We were given a pitch in the caravan field which was very quiet, indeed the only noise was from the farm in the adjacent field and its cockerel that liked to announce the arrival of daybreak!
The field is well sheltered with good hedges and the grass is mown and neatly kept. It was a short stroll to the toilet/shower block.
Shower water was hot and 20p gave sufficient time to shower. 20p for hairdryer in ladies. It was a 10p for hot water for dish washing. The laundry had a washer (£3) and a spinner dryer and iron, both those metered but not sure of charge for these.
The sites rules and regulations are clearly set out on notices in the dish wash room, which was well equipped with local info and was always clean and tidy.
