We stayed here the week leading up to the bank holiday. This was our first visit to the site and must say that we found it peaceful and laid back even though it was full (tents are in 2 other separate fields). There are nice touches like the microwave & freezer in the laundry/information room. The owners are very friendly and will stop to chat but quite often the office was closed and a contact mobile number was left on the door. We tripped the power at 9.30pm and weren't able to raise anyone till the following morning. I don't think they have a lot of other help and don't appear to let running the site intrude on their life too much - not a criticism, this added to the laid back feel. When Nigel did appear he was usually followed by a group of people trying to sort things out! The ladies shower block consists of 2 showers, 1 wash cubicle and 3 loos. Showers cost 20p - I did hear complaints about no hot water over the bank holiday when they were full, also it's 10p to wash up -again we heard complaints about cool water. We loved the location of the site - right in a pretty village with a good bus service and a few shops for basics. We were told the pub further up opposite the chip shop was better but never got to try it. Couple of things - there were a few negative comments about village noise in the visitors book from people who seemed to expect to be miles from anywhere - yes you did get some noise but hardly noticable. Also complaints about noisy people on site - we never saw anything like that but you can't help wonder if Pat and Nigel had been around a little more could they have sorted the problem. Our 'van is a big twin axle and my husband found the access rather scary as it was tight. The surrounding area is lovely for walking although very hilly - you have been warned! A lovely site - we hope to return.

What can I say! this campsite does exactly what it says on the tin! An extremely warm welcome by the owner as soon as we arrived. Plenty of large pitches to choose from, the cleanest toilets and showers I have experienced in three years of camping. Lots of clean modern facilities, microwave, fridge, washer and drier (nominal charges apply but well worth it). Beautifully located between Staiths and Runswick Bay and only a short drive to Whitby, and as if all that wasnt enough two friendly pubs at the end of the road. Although it says predominantly adults we visited with our 11 and 14 year olds who thought it was lovely, but if you are a boistrous family who like noise and ball games this is not the site for you. A big thankyou to the owners for a thoroughly peacefull, relaxing couple of days spent here. Cant wait to visit again!

This has to be one of the cleanest, best equipped and friendliest camping sites I know. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome and booking in was easy. The campsite comes equipped with a fridge/freezer, washers/dryers, excellent laundry and shower facilities and (true to their word on their website) is a quiet and peaceful place to stay in. We will definitely be returning next year, and wholeheartedly recommend Serenity to anyone wishing to stay in the Whitby area.

Found this place when we'd failed to find anywhere at Robin Hood's Bay or Whitby. We'd been driving for four hours, and had a very hungry baby in the back! Thank goodness we stopped! This site is friendly, peaceful, clean, quiet and just lovely. Runswick is great, though the descent is a bit of a horror in an old vehicle. Saltburn has miles of beach to run the dogs on, and the firm sand was great for the pushchair too! Interesting mix of rural, seaside and industrial views! Food at the pub opposite the site was dire the night we were there, and we didn't risk it another night. How can you burn everything for one person and under cook for the other? Will definitely be going back to Serenity next time we head this far north. Not recommended for those with very boisterous kids who need to run off a lot of steam, or teenagers who want to be entertained. Was fine with the baby though, and there were quite a few very well behaved children around.

I booked a two night stay mid week, and then stayed on for an extra night, the campsite is wonderful. The facilities were very good clean and tidy and Pat was forever in the showers with her mop, due to the rain and the grass just been cut. You need 20p for a shower/hairdryer and 10p for hot water for washing up. Although it has rained the previous few days - the sun did shine for the few days we stayed. The area itself is wonderful, this was our first visit in 10 years to North Yorkshire and it was still as beautiful. The pub over the road seemed to do good business with food, although we didnt try, but they did sell Theakstons ( so had a few if them instead). The site is not far from Runswick Bay which must be the best beach I have ever visited. A lovely little coffee shop which sold sandwiches/cakes and ice cream is at the bottom of the hill. Cant wait to visit again.

We had a lovely stay here for 5 nights. We stayed on a serviced pitche with our own water and waste points. Also a hardstanding pitch. The owners Pat and Nigel were very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful site in a small village with two pubs, a small shop and a post office. The facilities were very clean at all times. The only thing about the showers was you didnt get long for your 20p so you had to be quick when washing your hair. Will definitely go back

What a fantastic campsite! We had a thoroughly relaxing time over the four days we were there. The facilities were the best we've seen-especially the showers-they were nice and hot and very powerful! Everything was spotless and well maintained, definitely worth paying the extra money for the showers and hot water etc. (20p for showers, 10p for hot water to wash dishes) Very friendly, helpful service from Pat and Nigel, the owners. Will without a doubt be going back. The sooner the better!

Exactly as it says on the website, no late night noise, no ball games etc, just total chillout. Pub at the end of the road does good food at reasonable prices. Facilities immaculate, owners very welcoming and friendly, we loved it and will be back. Very dog friendly location, although we didn't take ours this time. In the village nearly everyone had a dog. Went fossil hunting, very steep walk back but worth it - even I found something. Close to Whitby etc I can't wait to go back.

Just back from this great site and it certainly lives up to its name! We had loads of space for our large tent with EHU, the facilities covered everything you could want including a free fridge/freezer and microwave oven and a washing machine and tumble dryer (£2) and were all first class and the setting was lovely. Owners Nigel & Pat were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and recommended the pub in Ellerby about a mile away for a really good restaurant quality meal.
20p for the showers was not a problem as they are very good / powerful and have a dry area (separated by a curtain with seat and 2 hooks) so your clothes don't get wet! The 2 village pubs are both within a minutes walk of the site entrance plus there's a butchers, fish&chip shop, Post Office etc in the village. Ideally located for Whitby area and the North Yorkshire Moors. Overall a fantastic site. We WILL be going back!

Me and my boyfriend went to this campsite last September. It was our first time camping and what a great time we had. We pitched our tent which took about an hour as we didn't know what we were doing. We had brought our own food and BBQ and asked permission to use it. They accepted as long as we didn't burn the grass or cause any damage. And we respected that. The gentleman that booked us in was very helpful and pleasant. The campsite was very clean the showers were clean. This was a very pleasant weekend and we will definitely be going back next summer,
