Just spent five days here. Great site with views over Skiddaw - would certainly consider going back. Level pitch with hardstanding but we were able to put the awning on grass so we could put in the pegs easily, (rather than bending them by trying to knock them into rock etc).
Very friendly reception when we arrived and we were helped to select a pitch.
Toilet block was an unexpected bonus. Excellent showers. Toilets good and have been recently upgraded.
Two roosters strutted around the site but were not a nuisance.
Very good access to walks on local fells inc Causey Pike, Grisedale Pike, Hopehill Head and Whiteside.
Nearby on Bassenthwaite Lake is an osprey nest and otters. An osprey flew over us, dived with a big splash and flew off with a fish. Magic. Do take binoculars or a telescope.

We're just back from a very enjoyable 9 night stay at Lanefoot Farm and would highly recommend this campsite with beautiful views of Whinlatter Forest and surrounding area. It's so close to the A66 but far enough away to still be fairly quiet. It's about 10 minutes walk along a quiet country lane from Braithwaite where there are a couple of village pubs and a 5 minute ride in the car to Keswick which has a very handy Co-op for supplies.
The toilets, sinks and showers were well maintained with a constant supply of hot water - the only drawback being that I would expect more queues for the ladies toilets at busy times of year (only two of each toilet).
The £11.99 BBQ packs sold in the small on site shop are highly recommended and good value, as are the £6 log packs which make a lovely campfire in the burners provided.
Places of interest nearby include the Pencil Museum in Keswick and Trotters World of Animals only a few minutes away by car - great value.
For the fly fisher, I would recommend trying Watendlath Fishery - close to Derwent Water, which is stocked with hard-fighting rainbow trout and is a beautiful water.
If you enjoying walking, there are some lovely walks in Whinlatter Forest - we bought a map of trails for £2 from the campsite shop and tried them all.
We hope to be going back later in the year!

This is a relatively small site and although there was a 'full' sign at the entrance we managed to talk the owner into letting us pitch there in the main field.
We were very surprised that there was plenty of available space but the full sign remained for the next 4 days. The best field seemed to be next to the small stream or the one adjacent to the facilities.
There wasn't too much for children to do but they did love the walk to the shop which had old fashioned sweets that they could choose from.
The camp fires were a highlight as were the tractor rides that the farmer would offer when coming round to sell wood for the fires.
There were 2 pubs within 20 mins walk and keswick just 10 mins drive away. The views were lovely but there was slight road noise from the A66 and adjacent road which would put me off from returning any time soon.

Just back from a very wet Bank Holiday at Lanefoor Farm. The campsite is a decent one, with some good views of the surrounding hills. The ground was saturated and there were a couple of cars sliding around in the top field where we camped.
Showers were hot and toilets clean although there was a bit of pressure on them around peak times. Owners were friendly but seemed quite reserved.
I really appreciated the space between pitches as it would have been easy to cram people in over the Bank Holiday.
Basic shop on site and a couple of places to eat and drink a 10 minute walk away in Braithwaite.
Overall impression was positive but still a work in progress.

Stayed here with my partner and two teenage girls over the easter break. Fantastic little site :-) When we arrived we were given a choice of where to pitch, we chose to pitch at the top of the second field, furthest from the facilities but beautiful views, it was worth the walk to and from the toilets/showers etc.
Having said that it isnt even really that far to walk! Facilities were fabulous, hot showers (3), really clean and much to the delight of the teenage girls a wash room with a plug for their hair straighteners!
Excellent pot wash area and clean toilets, the only comment I can make is that there is no hand dryer and there's no hand towels provided so its drip dry for the hands.
Great location for whinlatter forest and keswick. All in all a great site, helpful owners, allowed fires if you purchase the kit from them which is always a bonus but it is a bit on the pricey side £8. 50 per adult per night and £3. 50 for children.

What a great campsite. We stayed here for 3 nights over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday. Whilst there are only 3 showers for the site, we never had to queue for very long and were well worth the wait. There are 2 push button (brand new) showers and an electric shower as well as a separate cubical with a mirror and handbasin.
We found the shop to be great especially for a BBQ pack which at £11.99 was quite good value for the content.
We will definitely be returning.

We booked for three nights here over the Easter holiday and found the whole process a pleasure - especially as I messed up the dates and had to change them! The site is a working farm, so there's the usual farm noises which we always find very relaxing - perhaps the cockerel who crowed at 3:15 in the morning hadn't adjusted his watch to British Summer time, but that was just part of the charm of this site.
We had loads of space on a flat and level pitch - the owners don't pack out the site like some and it made it great for just chilling out.
The facilities are very clean and contained in the main building less than a minutes walk from the pitch in our case (the hook up pitches are nearest) - the owners brought in additional facilities for the upcoming Easter weekend so they have clearly taken note of comments in other reviews about queues. We didn't have any queues or crowds during our stay at all.
We loved the campfires and had one every night - we took boots and rucksacks and in the end just had a very relaxing four days on and around the site, trips into Keswick and nearby Portinscale and eventually never got them out of the car.
The owners were very pleasant and always willing to stop for a chat. Our pitch was next to the friendly pony (Billy) and the free range chickens; it was flat and well sheltered with great views of Skiddaw. Those same chickens provide fantastic eggs which really make a good breakfast.
Braithwaite is a 15 minute stroll away down the very quiet road which leads from the site and there is a choice of two pubs. We found the Coledale Inn had the better beer garden of the two, though the food and drink is good in both - it's a matter of personal preference! Keswick is probably walkable or a 5 minute drive away.
We found the site offered reasonable value for money - perhaps a touch pricy (just under £60 for two adults with EHU for three nights), but the location and the relaxed nature of the site more than made up for it.
We're looking to return with the kids next time - they love farms and animals so will be in their element.

Fab little site - views to die for. We went as a group of families with young children and had a super time.
We had our own little end of a field close to the toilets and the free range chickens (which were very friendly and inquisitive).
Shop excellent (fresh eggs and they can organise bbq packs if necessary), owners very friendly and helpful.
Facilities good, toilets - perfectly fine and showers - nice and clean with plenty of hot water. Good washing up area too.
Lovely site and we would definitely return.

We visited this site for the second time and stayed for 4 nights. This is an excellent site, not only because our kids love it here but because we (the wife and I) love it here for many reasons. The location of the site is excellent for walks (Coledale Round, Whinlatter Forest etc.), your 5 mins away in the car to busy Keswick or about 2 and a half miles away on foot.
The campsite itself is very child friendly, has good clean facilities - showers are hot though sometimes a queue can develop if the site is busy, there are 3 sinks for washing up, again always hot water available and there is a fairly well stocked shop on site for those forgotten essentials. The owners are very friendly and always happy to help.
Would definitely recommend any family staying here for at least a couple of nights. The fire pits provided (with the purchase of firewood at £6 per sack) is a blessing on the colder nights as well as keeping the family around the fire toasting marshmallows etc.).
There are a few pubs in Braithwaite just a 10min walk away. We visited The Royal Oak and had a fantastic roast beef sunday lunch on Easter Sunday.Would highly recommend for this and the ale, however didn't eat here at any other time so cannot comment on the rest of the menu but staff were very friendly.
We will be back!

Stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of September. The site is in a lovely setting with great views of Skiddaw and easy access to the Northern Lakes. The showers are hot and the loos were always clean even on a busy Saturday. Lots of hot water for pot washing and a shop stocking the basics. Staff are friendly and chatty and the camp fires make for a nice atmosphere after dark. Good to have hens, ducks and geese wandering about on the site too.
I can also recommend the Coledale Inn at Braithwaite - great food, a good pint and very dog friendly.
Will definitely camp here again.
