Have visited this friendly site a few times. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Good location for walking in the North Lakes and close to Keswick for food shopping etc.

Facilities are reasonable and had been improved and added to since we last went. Very useful that it has a little shop so you can buy milk/ bacon etc in the mornings.

Just arrived home from a very busy 3 night stay at this lovely campsite. We were 2 tents, 4 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs! This campsite is ideally located if you want to walk/bike/Go Ape in Whinlatter Forrest, we have done all 3 and the kids absolutely loved it! Keswick is just down the road if you want shops etc. Braithwaite - you can walk to it for nice pubs etc.

Facilities were fab and clean. 3 showers and 1 wash cubicle and although the site was pretty busy we didn't have to queue at all. Washing up area indoors. The facilities are all in farm outbuildings so more shabby chic than modern but all clean and the showers were as hot as you wanted them to be.

Very picturesque and seemed to be a working farm with chickens, sheep and a very friendly pony. The views were amazing!

There are fire pits dotted around if you want them and you can buy wood in their shop. Lots of people used them which gave a nice atmosphere in the evening. We had no problems with noise, all the campers respected each others peace. There was enough space for our kids to play football and rounders early evening, before settling down in front for the fire pit to chill before bedtime!

All in all a great campsite - will definitely be visiting again.

Lots of room when we went in may. And we had some good weather well dry atleast. Will visit again.

This is a beautiful rural site, set in stunning surroundings, with mature trees, animals and basic but perfectly good facilities.

We camped in the 'meadow field' which is smaller and more broken-up by a stream and trees. It was flat enough, with worn areas for pitching, and use of fire pits which you have to hire from the owner and buy his wood. These gave a great fire every night.

We found showers, washing-up and toilets were good: lots of hot water and no queueing, though the site was relatively quiet despite it being a bank holiday.

The owner is very pleasant and helpful, and has a well-stocked little shop on site for milk, fresh eggs and foodstuffs.

The site is by a main road, but we didn't find the road noise a problem; the cockerel and sheep were far noisier! There are lovely walks from the site including to a pub, and it is a short drive from the centre of Keswick.

An idyllic place; will return.

Reading through the other reviews it makes me wonder if we are reviewing the same site!? Well, one man's meat is another man's gravy!

While the facilities are perfectly acceptable - they are in very old buildings rather than modern - they had down sides: we had to queue for the showers despite the site being comparatively quiet.

Along side that is that the showers, well 2 of the three, are of the 'push button' type. Now while I don't have a problem with that type of shower - 14 SECONDS between pushes could be viewed as a bit flipping excessive!

Further, while the toilets were all kept as clean as could be reasonably expected there were only 4 - of which two were unisex. 4 toilets on a site which claims 50 pitches? Hmmm. Not sure on that one.

As far as noise goes, it greatly depends on where you are pitched. The site, being a farm, is quite rambling and spread out and there are bits where noise from the A66 could be an issue.

Final 'gripe'. This has got to be the wettest site we've ever been on; when we arrived we were told by the owner that, prior to our arrival, it had rained solid for about 6 days. It showed. We were lucky in that the tent has a 'bathtub' groundsheet - and bathtubs float!

Exaggeration? Well, when you walked across the grass the ground was so wet that the water would come up to the surface and, within about three paces, your feet were wet. I had taken the rock pegs (this is, after all the Lake District!) and to get some sort of purchase in the ground, ended up using the 15' long snow pegs instead!

Having said all that - it's, unlike so many sites these days, reasonably priced; the shop holds all the absolute basics you might need; the nearby pub is a gentle stroll and perfectly acceptable; the location is handy for travel and some of the views from the site are so stunning as to almost make everything else irrelevant!

We arrived in Daisy the campervan which we had hired from Rainbow camper hire in nearby Keswick ( a lot nearer than we'd realised to be honest!) not know anything about the world of hard standings etc having tented for many years.

The shale pitch was easily big enough for the van and awning which was good considering the ground is still very muddy.

The facilities were good and cleaned regularly, housed in old farm buildings. The washing up area had plenty of hot water and their was an area for drying gear.

We didn't make use of the campfire which was the main reason we booked largely because the pub and shutting the van door with the heater on was more attractive at the time!

The owners were helpful and friendly and there seemed to be plenty for the 'free range kids' to do but again the inevitable April mud slowed them down.

The various farm animals and fantastic views would definitely put this site on our go again list along with the three friendly pubs with good food up the lane. The road that goes past is a busy A road and has the noise that goes with it, but I personally don't it detracts from the site. We'll be back for a proper explore and burn when the ground hardens up!

Views of Skiddaw are amazing and having a campfire under the stars makes this a better option for us than some of the more manicured sites nearby. You have to make the choice between lots of facilities (extra loos and showers) and the more rustic farm site, but this has excellent facilities for a farm site. Three showers, free and always hot. Two are push button with temperature control (never seen this combination before) and there is a decent amount of time between each 'press'. Third is a standard electric shower with constant flow, but the cubicle is smaller and more awkward. Male and female loos in the main building and two unisex in the lower barn.

Think that queues likely if the site was busy, but we never had to queue all week. Always clean and spotless.

Others have voiced a preference for the meadow field but we preferred the open field with glorious views of Skiddaw. It wasn't overcrowded and plenty of space between tents. Caravans all clustered in one corner (about 6 of them). We camped by the road but very little traffic. You can hear the A66 but again, not intrusive. It was the owls that kept me awake!

Three good pubs in 15 min walking distance, and recommend Nichol End Marina for canoe hire on Derwent Water - really friendly and good rates.

Loved it and will go back.

We booked to stay 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend.

The owner was really friendly and very helpful considering he was so busy that weekend. Nothing was too much trouble for him and always took time to talk and ask how we were.

The views from our site were superb with a real sense of back to nature.

Although the site was very busy for the first 3 nights I don't think I every waited for more than a minute or two for the toilets.

We had our own shower but the time I did use the shower facilities to wash my hair they seemed really clean with lovely hot water.

The fire pits to use for a great facility and really made you think you were back in the Girl Guides!

We only had one problem of kids chucking footballs and causing a nuisance near our van/fire pit but the owner dealt with that incident calmly and swiftly which I was really impressed with.

The camp site had a shop on site where you could stock up with essentials.

There was a lovely hotel/pub just along the road which was a great place to go and have a drink. Braithwaite (1 mile approx)also had a wonderful village store with all sorts of yummy things.

If you want a back to nature experience with good clean facilities at hand then this is the place to go.

We would definitely return to Lanefoot Farm again!

We visited this site on recommendation and weren't disappointed. The owner apologised for being busy, and busy it was but there was plenty of space for every one. I loved the views of Skiddaw and Winlatter. The A66 was seconds away but it was just a dull murmur in the background.

Back to the site being busy, we never had to queue for the toilets or showers, in fact the only queue was for the washup sinks. The nearest pub is 5 mins walk away and Keswick is a 10 min drive. We will be back next year

Just come back from a lovely relaxing 10 days at Lanefoot. It was lovely to be back here, and very nice to see the owners again.

This year we had lovely sunny days and no rain, the site was fully booked, but we weren't on top of each other. It is better to book your spot.

There was no waiting for showers and toilets, they are kept lovely and clean by the owner. The shop always stocks the basics in case you have forgot something, this year there was homemade cupcakes by the owner, already put in order for next year.

If you are looking for peace and quiet and fantastic views, then this is the place for you, you will be made welcome by the owners.

You are not very far from Keswick town centre, which had lots of shops and restaurants, cafe's etc, but try and avoid going on Bank Holiday weekends, as its manic.

Can't wait to book again for next year, love being there, its like being with family and you are always made welcome.
