Not much to add really that hasn't already been said.
Pluses - owners/managers very friendly and helpful; lovely views; good base for seeing the lake district; has a real 'camping feel'; for a fiver you can get a wheel inner, 2 bricks, kindling and a bag of logs for your own camp fire - a service I wish other campsites would take up.
Minuses - very basic toilets and not enough of them.
Would I return - yes, if visiting the Keswick area again

We decided to have a lads 4 day walking break in the lakes so 3 of us chose this site as it is well postioned to access lots of walks, without driving too far.
It takes caravans and lager tent units but we were in small tents on the field near the house with a stream running through & the kids on site enjoyed playing in it.
There can be some queuing for showers at peak times, but they are free with lots of hot water, just the thing after a long day out.
Its just a short walk into Braithwaite to a well stock pub with real ale and a good choice of food.
I guess some might describe this site as a bit basic, but the owner was very friendly and helpful and the pitch fees were very reasonable.
I would certainly use it again and recommend it to others.

This is a lovely little site with fabulous views of the northern fells. It is only a couple of miles from Keswick and walking distance to a pub.
There was certainly no overcrowding. We were given an enormous pitch for a 2 man tent, which was very secluded. The site allows fires and the logs are the best I've bought. They are kiln dried and burn really well and don't smoke. At £5.50, they are reasonably cheap and conveniently delivered to your tent!
The site has a small shop, handy for milk at breakfast and other forgotten essentials (like marshmallows.) The toilets and showers (free) have recently been renovated and are now really nice. Good recycling facilities on site.
At £7.50 per person per night, it's one of the more expensive sites we visit (we usually go to tap and toilet sites) but I think it's really good value for the facilities and the location.
I intend to return in a couple of weeks with friends.

Relaxed just about sums it up.
Website mentions the facilities have been revamped. There's three toilets 1 per sex and one shared. Three showers all hot and clean, maybe a curtain so your clothes don't get splashed (being picky here)? Single private basin too. Three indoor kitchen type basins for pot washing.
Shop on site for bits and pieces, to be honest there's no real need to leave the site for anything.
Wheel rims for fires (big thumbs up!), proper farm so chickens often wandering round.
Small stream trickles through the Meadow field.
Not the flattest site I've been to as the ground in the meadow field is undulating (not much but enough). The open field has more space we only had a quick look there.
5min drive to Keswick.
Big question, would I go again.?
Yes mainly because of the views and how relaxed it seemed, family site. Rating wise, a couple more toilets wouldn't go amiss, Child friendliness. Good however you have to be on guard because of the stream.

Lanefoot farm is great, it's such a relaxed, laid back place, the owners are so helpful but not at all intrusive and the area is beautiful, we had unobstructed views of Skiddaw out of our window.
As some others have commented there aren't many facilities but that just makes it even better, it would ruin the place if they added big posh shower blocks, it's a working farm and us campers & caravanners should enjoy the experience and not seek to change it.
The geese & chickens make regular rounds of the units after scraps, I did notice the cockerel appeared at 9am prompt so I assume he's locked up somewhere dark until then and it was a treat to see the sheepdog herding the sheep up the lane.
Keswick is a 2 minute drive away and there are many walks & cycle routes leading from the site.
If you plan to use a tv make sure you have a satellite dish as you wont get a reception, we accidentally left ours at home so bought cheap dvd's from the local charity shops!
I was tempted not to leave a glowing review as I don't want it to become too popular.!

Had a lovely long week-end at Lanefoot Farm. The site is great, unregimented, caravans, tents and Motor Homes randomly placed. Has a real natural feel about it.
We are life long campers, just changed to a Motor Home as we are now turned 60 and think we deserve a bit of comfort, but I don't expect the site to provide it! The previous comments about lack of showers, not enough toilets etc. are obviously made by people who would be more suited renting a country cottage or staying in a B&B. I thought this site was bordering on luxury, compared to places we have stayed before.
It is surrounded by fantastic views, walks, public transport and accessibility to main routes for touring by car / bike. Gareth and Helen, please do not modernise the site any more than you already have. Real campers will appreciate this site now and as it was previously. There are just not enough natural campsites around.
Just one observation, when I bring my Grandchildren and Grownup Children! they love going out to collect firewood for the campfire at night. Would this be allowed if we used the wheelrims? Collecting your own wood is part of the camping experience, for us anyway! Apart from that A++++++++++++ Site!

The site was full when we arrived, but there was a space for us as we had booked. The owner Gareth was a lovely man and was always ready to stop and chat. Although the site was full it remained quiet the whole time we were there.
The facilities are basic but that's what we like and so we chose it. We had a fire a couple of nights and found people came over to chat. The views from the site are lovely and there is always something to watch. It rained a bit while we were there but the ground drained reasonably quickly.
We stayed a week and never went further than three miles from the site. We walked from the site to Thornethwaite and Braithewaite - which has a shop and a couple of pubs. We caught the Osprey bus with the dog which was a whole day's travel for £5 each.
We will definitely go back.

Visited with a group of mum's and kids (aged from 3 to 12). Proper camping, we all loved the open fire - BBQ and toasted marshmallows, and the kids played for hours in the stream. There were sheep and chickens to keep them occupied and a nice little shop that sold everything we had forgotten. The owners are really nice as well. The only negative thing about it is there is only one shower and it took ages to get all the kids 'through the wash', we caused a queue on our own. We would go again but would like to see better shower facilities.

I have read all the reviews on this campsite and having just returned from the site, there is only one conclusion that can be made, this site must upgrade its toilet / shower facilities. 1 shower per sex and 1 sink is just not acceptable for the modern camper. I would love to return to this site but will not if this situation remains. I absolutely loved the ducks, chickens and the geese, loved feeding the pony, loved the oldness of the buildings. The site is in an ideal location, close to Bassenthwaite and to Keswick, a little too close to the main road but that wasn't a problem.

This is a lovely site which I hope will stay this way as more and more people discover it. If you want a site that makes you feel you are really camping in the countryside without the commercial trappings this is it. The toilet blocks are very simple and the men’s could do with a makeover. The ladies facilities seem to have been done already with proper shower but the men’s still has a simple shower in a bath. There is only Graham will drive around in his restored old tractor delivering a wheel rim which he uses to set the fire for you. The kids get the treat when the trailer is empty to have a ride in it (wish I was still a kid) Marshmallows and skewers can be purchased from the camp owners to enjoy with the open fire.
There are two fields one which is called the meadow and has secluded areas and the other is a large field which slopes upwards and has great views of the mountains. You can pitch level however but during heavy rain it does get muddy and sometimes cars are not able to get to the tents and have to stay at the entrance to the field.
You can cycle into Keswick in about 15 mins and there are some super walks around campsite. I always enjoy staying at this site which I try and do at least once a year.
