Had a fantastic week at Lanefoot! Weather made it all the more enjoyable! Even the Lake District folk said what beautiful weather we had.
The campsite itself was very quirky, spread out over 3 separate areas. A campsite mainly for tents behind the farmhouse where there were also 3 'pods', 2 vintage caravans and a shepherds hut, all for hire and for most of the time they nearly all had someone in them. On the other side of the tiny road that ran between the site, there were 10 hard standings with half of those having seasonal caravans on them with no one in them until the Friday night when we were due to leave early on the Sat. There was also a large camping field the other side of a maturing hedge which for the the most part of our week there, it was quite empty, but come the Friday, it was full. When we arrived the previous Sat, it was also full, but by the time we got back from our day out on the Sun, it had emptied! So, for the most part, it was a lovely peaceful site.
The views were stunning with a bit of an air show a couple of the evenings. Aircraft flying low over Bassenthwaite lake.
Keswick was only a 5 minute drive away and is a lovely market town with a very handy CoOp and a Booths supermarket.
Site is positioned nicely for touring the Lake District with so much to see! There is a Slate mine museum not too far away from the campsite which didn't appeal to the ladies in our little party(we went with friends) but the men went off and were full of praise when they returned. Lots of massive bits of machinery that you could just wander around, with people around to tell you anything you wanted to know. Us ladies just had a lazy day, reading and having a little drink and chillin'.
The owners were lovely, as were the lambs that were wandering around! I don't know if the facilities were adequate enough at the weekends when it was full of campers but as we have our own, it didn't affect us.
If we go back to that area again I would definitely return to this campsite. A beautiful part of the country.
Oh yes, one of the nicest things you can do at this campsite, is hire a 'fire pit' which is a old wheel rim, and along with the bags of wood the farm sold you for £5. 50, was a lovely touch in the evenings. Although the evenings the week we were there, weren't cold, it's still nice to do and many of the campers did the same.

I've used this site many times over the last 5 years. I'd persuaded friends to come camping, but his wife is a reluctant camper so we booked the pods. Must say they are excellent. Small oil filled radiator came in handy as was a touch nippy on the nights. Very comfortable. Wonderful site and close to all attractions and walks. Would recommend this site to anyone. Views from the site are amazing. Another plus is the Middle Ruddings pub which is 10 mins walk away.

Stayed for the May Bank Holiday weekend. I can reiterate what all others have said in the great little site, I pre booked a pitch hoping for fine weather. On arrival got given the choice of a couple of pitches to camp on. All facilities continue to be spot on. Lashings of Hot water even to wash your hands. Fire pit great and no issue with very wet weather which we experienced. Grey water disposal point. Electric tent pitch used. Would certainly use it again & recommend it to use, very pleasant & helpful owners.

First time I've used this site and what a great find. Located about 3 miles from Keswick and a 10-15 minute walk to 3 excellent pubs in Braithwaite. Excellent base for the fells and Bassenthwaite Lake.
It's a working farm and owners are very friendly. Facilities are good, some recently refurbished by the look of it.
A bonus was that the site provides fire pits and logs for campfires for a small charge.
Excellent site.

We have stayed on the site on many occasions and absolutely love it! An added bonus is that's it walking distance to the pub and as well as lots of walks nearby. It is a quite basic site but clean and friendly its overlooked by the mountains. Highly recommended as long as you are not looking for lots of mod cons and facilities.

This was a lovely campsite in 5 minutes drive of Keswick, nearby to Bassenthwaite Lake. Small shop on site selling basic bits and pieces including wood. Campfires were allowed which was great. Could hear the road but this didn't bother us (and is be expected as the campsite is close to the A66). The site was family run and very friendly. We stayed in a tent but the vintage caravans, shepherds hut and pods all looked good. The only thing that I felt needed improvement really was the showers. There were only three showers (unisex) so these were quite busy. Ideally this site needs separate male and female showers so that there is a changing area, this would really help. Also one of the showers was rubbish but the other two worked ok. However I would recommend this campsite and would stay here again. Oh yes, it was also in walking distance of a real ale pub (Middle Ruddings) which is always a bonus!

Lovely campsite near the base of skidaw. Fantastic views of the hills. Plenty of space over a few small fields. Excellent facilities with clean, warm showers. Staff are very friendly. Fires allowed which is always a bonus. Small shop which stocks the basics. Pub within walking distance. Not far from Keswick. It is located beside an A road but we didn't. Notice the traffic.

Just back from a week at Lanefoot. It was heaven, even though we had rain for most of the week. On arrival welcomed by Gareth, went to a new place to put the tent, it was great, nice and peaceful.
The showers were hot as usual and had no waiting, the washing up facilities are excellent again no waiting, also we had no problems waiting for the toilet facilities. The shop also stocks fresh bread, milk, bacon and eggs (provided by the chickens that roam freely). Also looked forward to the homemade cupcakes which we can highly recommend.
If you are looking for somewhere to eat, Keswick is about 5 minutes drive, and there are numerous places to eat, one of our favourites is The Kingfisher, which does excellent fish and chips. The market days are Thursday and Saturday, you can get fresh fruit and vegetables, and mostly anything from here.
If you are looking for a very relaxing place to stay, then Lanefoot is the place to be. Can't wait for next year.

Although there was some noise from the nearby dual carriageway during the day, at night all was peaceful in this beautifully located campsite with breathtaking views of Skiddaw revealed in a number of different guises as the weather changed. Showers and toilets were not as plentiful as could be expected given the number of pitches on this site but they were clean and tidy. A great base for walking and cycling.

This is a well positioned site for walking/cycling set with Skiddaw and Grisedale Pike surrounding. Camp fires allowed and large bag of logs about a £5 but would last a few nights. Small shop for some basics, but Keswick 2. 5 miles. Amenities are a bit basic as farm camp site but include showers, toilets and drying room, which is god send. I found staff very friendly and helpful.
All in all a great little site I would re-visit again.
