The room available for pitching your tent was huge, plenty of room for everyone even in August. There are 2 very large camping fields so no one was standing on each others toes.

The children's park was great I couldn't get my kids off it! It was just a shame we didn't pitch closer to it.

The toilets and showers were spotless and always well stocked.

The showers are 20p per minute which is reasonable, and limits waste. 60p gave a generous shower. The machine only takes 20p's so either be prepared or pop to reception where they have a stash of change.

The Pigs are lovely.

Locally you are a short drive from Matlock, Bakewell, Dove Dale and loads of other fab places to visit. Plenty of pubs locally but realistically you need to drive to them.

We went during the week.It was very quiet.

An excellent site.

We didn't notice the noise from the quarry [which a few 'reviewers' have referred to].

The site has lovely views.

The toilets are best described as 'clean but adequate'.The shower block is separate and is very good.

The staff/owners seemed very friendly.

We didn't use 'electric hook-up' as we are 12v powered in our trailer tent.

I would be careful where to pitch [if in a tent].As parts of the [two] fields could be windy.

Be careful if you use a sat-nav to find the site.Ours still said we had another 0.6 miles to go [but we saw the sign for it.This was approaching from the Matlock direction].

At £6 per night/per person we thought it very reasonable or the two of us.

Will definitely visit this site again.

I've been to this site twice this month, and both experiences have been very different.

As ohter reviewers have said, there are three fields, one which has caravans, then a small field for tents and a very large field for tents. We opted for the furthest field both times. The first trip, and the reason for going back, was lovely.

There were maybe a dozen tents in the far field, well spaced out, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. There was some noise from the quarry, and at 9.15am on our second morning there was a siren before they blasted some rock, but other than that it wasn't too bad.

There was hot water for dishes, toilets seemed fine and clean, with soap and paper towels. The men's loo is not pleasant to walk past, as you can actually see men going to the loo, not so good when I had my three year old granddaughter there. More privacy there would be a good thing.

At night there are lots of wildlife noises, but that was a lovely thing to have, and coupled with the fact that campfires are allowed, the ambience was really pleasant. The site owners are very nice and friendly people, they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.

So to this weekend. Having decided I didn't want to drive too far for the Bank Holiday, we rang Middle Hills and were happy to find out they'd had a couple of cancellations. I expected it to be busy. What I did not expect was the amount of groups that were allowed onto the site. Groups of families, groups of men, making the site look like it had been divided into mini villages.

Suffice to say, we left a day earlier than we planned.

I would go back, but out of the holidays. The location is lovely, there are some great places to visit in the locality. But this is definitely a site for noisy people!

I am new to camping so a bit nervous to be honest, great campsite! Lots of space and was able to pitch up where we wanted.

My little boy aged 5 loved the play area and I could keep an eye on him from our tent which meant I could relax with my glass of wine!

Only 10 min drive to Matlock for lovely Fish & Chips.

Toilets where very clean and tidy and the lady who looked after them was lovely.

The pigs are also a good attraction and loved the left over bread and strawberrys.

We have already booked again to go with the family at the end of August.

I would highly recommend this site.

The field has a slight slope and can be a little exposed to the wind depending on where you pitch.

The track on the campsite was a little dusty.

The facilities are good,we found the showers excellent, but probably due to the site being very busy the hot water in the mens toilet block and sinks were luke warm for a few hours on Saturday night.

The toilet was kept clean and tidy.

The kids loved the play area.

There was a bit of noise coming from the nearby quarry.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful.

There is a chemist and local shops a few miles away and an excellant fish and chip shop and local pub.

We will be visiting again soon

This camp site is very spacious. The ground is flat which makes it easy to pitch a tent. The people are friendly and yes the toilets and showers are cleaned often by a very pleasant lady. The showers are charged at 20p a minute which I find a bit over the top [unless you can be quick ha ha] The pub is within easy walking distance, and its not a bad little place and yes they do serve food, just be aware it does get very busy on Friday and Saturdays,[the camp site that is] as it was completely full. But on the Sunday only 3 of us were left, so it would be peaceful until Friday comes round again. They could do with a few more toilets though but over all I would go back. By the way they charge 6 pound per person per night which can get a bit expensive if a few camp together but not bad if there is only a couple of you.

Great campsite, plenty of room, even though there were quite a few people there, there was plenty of room between pitches and areas for kids to play. The toilets and showers facilities were nothing exceptional but they were clean and all in working order.

There was a playpark for children which looked clean and well maintained. The campsite is very close to Matlock and Bakewell and within a 10 minutes walk to a pub.

We went with 2 family groups with 3 children 3yrs and under. The site was very busy on the Friday & Saturday nights with a number of large and noisy groups who pitched very close to us.

There was loud music played until at least 1am and shouting and conversation loud enough to keep you awake. There appeared to be no site rules about keeping quiet after hours despite the site advertising as being 'family friendly'.

The children's play area was great and kept the kids entertained.

Toilet facilities were clean but ran out of hot water by about 8am.

Great site that my family have been to about 5 times now. However this time the visit was not the best. There were a number of large groups on site which played very loud music late into the night (2.30 am), scattered rubbish every where, used foul language and generally used the site as a party venue! N

Now for the positive things. This was only on Saturday night and the first night we stayed was fine. The owners did try to calm things down but weren't very successful.

The facilities are great and always clean and tidy. The kids loved the play ground. I hope this was a one off - as I would hate to not be able to go to this lovely site again.

Campsite had lots of room even though there were plenty there!

Shower block was lovely an clean! Toilets were fine and had loo roll! Sinks trickled water especially when people were filling up there water carriers! But who really cares!

Local pub was good as it sold magners! We had a ride out to dove dale and did a lovely walk along the river! Great for families lots were enjoying picnics!

Bakewell was well worth a visit too!

Great site an we are returning with family next month! Already booked
