We have just had a lovely weekend at this campsite. The cleaning lady is very friendly and is doing an excellent job, as the showers and toilets were spotless. It was only our second time caravanning and the pitches were on a slight slope but was fine. We did hear the quarry but it was definitely background noise and was not intrusive. I have two young children aged 4 and 2, they never mentioned the noise. The play area was a great hit and obviously they loved the animals too. The only criticism is the showers were not very strong and my two girls fought over the trickle coming out, maybe a bigger shower for families, with a constant water supply (not a push button) would be worth thinking about. All in all a lovely stay and we will return

Very nice campsite in a great location. Refreshing to be able to pitch up where we wanted to and to be allowed a campfire.
I didn't once hear any noise from the quarry that is near by.
There was always hot water when I wanted a shower and they were always kept very clean, as were the toilets. The only problem was that you had to constantly hold the button in to get water from the shower, which was a bit troublesome. Could also have done with another set of toilets as there were always queues first thing in the morning.
It is within walking distance to the pub
All in all a nice campsite, excellent value for money. The owners were very helpful and friendly and hopefully we will be coming back soon.

We enjoyed our stay here and our 3 year old loved the park and the pigs!
The facilities seemed to be hugely in favour of men. The ladies toilet block (in the park field) is much smaller than the men's block. It has a motion sensor by the door which activates the light. I made the mistake of going to the loo after cleaning my teeth and ended up being plunged into darkness! The light only came back on when I went out of the door. The men's light stayed on much longer (less than a minute for the ladies, several minutes for the men).
The ladies showers all worked on a push button which ONLY stayed on while being held (at my head height, so not easy on the wrist) - and yes I did try all of them(!) whereas the mens showers stayed on over 10 seconds per push, leading to a much more enjoyable shower.
It was nice to have washing up facilities, but the water was lukewarm most times that we used it.
The quarry noise was quite invasive, especially having just been camping in a very peaceful spot at Edale.
Although the play park was really good and the campsite as a whole was nice enough, we wouldn't return as the showers just made me grumpy!

We have been regular visitors to this site over the last couple of years and have to say it's our favourite. The owners being friendly and easy going to make you feel 'at home' from the start.
Pick your own spot
Fires allowed with a pit
Panoramic views
Showers, toilets spot on
Great new play area for kids
Pigs to feed
Horses/cows usually in next field
Most importantly there is a sensible 'full up' limit set, that still allows plenty of room and facility capabilities.
Pub for food down the road, tricky if walking though.
Good walking /cycling area near to Matlock,
Bakewell, Cromford And smaller villages
Also very reasonably priced.
We will be going back and would recommend.

What a fab little find. Booked for 5 nights. Went to reception where we were met paid the fee which was very cheap just £100 for 6 of us.
Toilets etc pointed out and told to pitch wherever we liked.
Toilets, showers, wash basins exceptionally clean, always had hot water and never had to que. Always loo roll handwash and hand towels As the weekend approached I noticed some portaloos appear in the other field which was a very good idea.
Park a great hit with the kids and so were the pigs horses and cows. Plenty of space for the kids to run round and play ball games
The site was very busy towards the end of our stay with 2 large parties, 1 VW campervan meet then the usual families. Noise was still kept to a minimum.
I read the reviews about the quarry. And thought oh no. But you only ever noticed it when someone mentioned it and did not spoil anything. Or maybe we just drank too much to notice.
You do require a car as there is not a lot around the site Bakewell being 8 1/2 mile and Matlock 7 Mile both with fantastic things to do for the kids
If I had to be picky then the grass could have been slightly shorter. A drain under the tap where you fill up as this made the area muddy as water flowed over meaning it was walked into the toilets although you would not know as I'm sure the cleaner was there every 5 minutes I'm sure this was also caused by the water fight some of the other children had. Maybe move the tap to the back of the toilets. Also a freezer available for ice packs that you could use yourself to save keep going back to the owners asking
All in all a fantastic site and we will definitely return.

My family and I attended this site for our second time. We loved the site the first time - hence our return. On this occasion I was distressed to find that fires had to be in a basket but after a brief chat with Liz the owner I fully understand why and support her on it. That aside its great that a fire is still acceptable as many sites have stopped this which, puts us off from attending.
The addition of the kids play area has really improved the site from a family perspective. The toilets never ran out of paper, soap or hand towels. They were always spotless which is a real achievement as the site was absolutely chock full. The cleaner, (whose name escapes me, too much beer when I saw her) was a lovely lady who put a lot of effort in for other peoples benefit. (we thank her for that)
Showers were always spotless and red hot, again despite the size of crowd. Some ladies had to queue but then they all went at the same time!
Overall I would recommend this site to any well- behaved, responsible campers. We think it is fantastic and we have been to a few.

Just arrived back from Middlehills camp site, had a truly wonderful time, met Liz and from the start she was friendly, helpful and helped to make our impromptu camping trip a real delight.
The campsite is truly beautiful, the girls loved the pigs and was bowed over by the cows who walked past us twice a day! Although it is sited near to a quarry I can honestly say that the noise didn't affect us at all.
Cant say what the best bit was, the fact we had such a spacious site, or the beautiful surroundings or the campfire where we toasted marshmallows and crumpets!
My girls were so upset that we had to come home but cheered up when we said we will soon be visiting again!

Well signposted and friendly reception
Toilets / showers / wash-up areas all very clean and well maintained.
Lack of hot water for washing up by 11am,although plenty when we showered at 7.30am.
Campsite was really busy but not noisy after 11.30pm.
We heard a little noise from the quarry on Thursday and Friday, but nothing that was that intrusive.
The whole site was clean and despite torrential rain on Saturday was not muddy
Overall enjoyed the site and the magnificent views but would recommend for basic campers not Glampers like us

We have just been for the first time to this site for two nights (fri/sat) in our caravan with electric hookup. It is a lovely family run campsite, the couple who run it are very friendly and welcoming.
Our children loved the playarea (which is apparently soon to be extended) they are 8 and 10 years old.
I would recommend this site it is clean, very relaxed but people very respectful of others even though there was a big group near us they did not cause any problems.
The showers were cold but generally clean - I think it was maybe the times I chose to shower!
The site does have a slight noise from the quarry nearby in the week but it never bothered us at all and was generally a peaceful, scenic site.
Do go visit!

A friendly site with a great atmosphere, On arrival the owners were very welcoming and friendly - giving us a choice of 2 large fields we could camp in.
We camped in the First field where there are great 360°views around, toilets are clean and tidy, and the showers are nice and clean.
At this campsite you can pretty much guarantee a good weekend
All in all, a brilliant site, reasonable prices, and we will definitely be going back before long!
