We had a great time this weekend at Middle Hills Campsite. It was a bit of a last minute decision to go away and we were pleased with our choice!
The owners are very laid back, allowing us to choose where we parked up and be flexible about how long we would like to stay. We were able to light a camp fire and generally chill out, which is just what we needed.
We didn't get kicked off at a certain time on our day of departure which was a welcome change from most campsites! The showers had plenty of hot water and the pot washing facilities were great.
We will definitely be returning in the near future!

Just come back from a weekend here.
Really great campsite, good value, v welcoming owners.
Great location near Matlock Bath, Belper and Bakewell.
Toilets and showers(which I believe have just been installed) were really clean and had no wait for a shower in the morning.
Down the road is a pub which serves ok food (2 meals for £5) bit of a bizarre place though, were the only people in there both fri and sat night, thought we may have to pay in shillings!
Would defo visit again.

We arrived on Friday night and were met by the very friendly owners. We were told that we could pick anywhere we liked to set up our tent. The field was excellent but could do with the grass cutting a bit more often. The toilet block was very clean with constant hot water. The pot washing area was also very good and the shower block was also great after its recent refit. Saturday night it was very rainy and windy but the field didn't get bogged down. The best part of the whole weekend was that the owner allows you to build camp fires our two girls (9&11 yrs old) loved roasting marshmellows. We will certainly be going there again in the near future.

Fun weekend. Very reasonable. Fun to have camp fire. Only drawback were too many noisy parties going on till 6am so very little sleep.
Would definitely go again, lovely countryside.
Toilet block was kept very clean, no showers due to refurb, not a problem.
Kids loved roaming round fields. Plenty of space to play games and run about
Owners very friendly

Very impressed with site, well managed and owners very pleasant. Large site with a big field for tents and motorhomes and campervans. Also a field for statics and caravans. All very well organised. Toilet facilities for such a sized site were kept clean and never ran out of paper. Hot water for pot washing available next to toilets/shower and all kept clean. There was also a burger van at end of the field, suppose it kept hungry kids sorted.
All in all, we, (6 of us, one camper van, tent and trailer tent) had a very good Bank holiday weekend, weather was kind to us and the site was excellent. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas, views of the hills are lovely. I rate this site, for us, 10/10. Will definitely go back.

Just returned from a spur of the moment weekend. Decided on Middlehills Farm and we were pleased with our choice.
It wasn't very busy so lots of choice of where to pitch, we decided on the top field by the dry stone wall which was flat ground.
As previously stated the campers toilet block lacked in hot water but the other block had plenty of hot water. We didn't use the shower facilities but can understand that there may be queues at busier times. 1 female and 1 male shower.
Our 3yr old liked the animals surrounding the site, pigs, cows and a horse. We would definitely return. The site was clean but basic.

Spacious site with good camping ground. Well located for the Matlock area of the peak district with cycle hire and good walks near by. Camping fires ok so long as you bring a spade and dig a pit (replacing grass before you leave), with firewood available from local farmer. Owner friendly and helpful. The pub was probably a 10 min walk but we didn't visit.
Only downside is the shower facility, 1 female and 1 male, which was not enough for the number of visitors. My boyfriend did have a shower which was warm, but reduced to a trickle if someone came to wash pots next door. Numbers of toilets ok but take your loo roll as they were often short on paper!
Would we come again??? My boyfriend says yes, and I say yes if they improve the showers :o)!

Middle Hills Farm Campsite is in a great location for Matlock Bath and the peak district. The site itself has a lot of potential for the new owners who have been running the site for a year. My wife spoke to the owners who told her they are upgrading the facilities for the summer. It's a very relaxed site which allows camp fires, barbecues and music at night so don't expect an early night. My kids loved the animals all around and the horse kept looking over the wall when we were cooking. The pub 500m down the road does great food but you have to walk along a busy road to get there so we drove down in the car. I would recommend this site to all types of people.

After speaking with the owners, I explained that as I was camping alone (with dog) and that I had a medical condition. They were extremely helpful, open to questions and expressed their wish to greet me at the site.
Arrived Thursday 30th April amid horrible rain. Easy to locate, with a delightful drive. Went into Matlock Bath and waited for the rain to ease off.
Arrival at the site, I was made very welcome. After a brief inspection of the facilities I happily pitched my tent on excellent camping ground (though longer grass damp). Plenty of spots to choose from with dry stone walls offering shelter. Campfires ok but clear up afterwards.
Despite the rain the hill top aspect meant a lot of water had drained away fairly quick.
A lovely warm shower (10ps needed x 3 for a decent splash). Facilities excellent, clean and serviceable, if abit chilly. Electric point in wash room for dryer a welcome must for my thick hair! Then off to the pub 10min walk away. My only gripe is that there was no footpath on the main road.
Enjoyable night spent, although the noise from nearby quarry a little off putting. This you get used to. Beware heavy trucks going too fast on the road.
I rate overall a 9/10 as per the noise from quarry and the traffic. Apart from that dog friendly, happy and cosy stay. I thank them very much and I will be going back!

Had a great weekend at Middle Hills Farm Campsite. The area is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit.
On the night we arrived, in the top field there were some young folks having a great time. The music, although played till quite late was brilliant (NB. `Families' are encouraged to situate themselves further down in the lower field).
The facilities were ok, but I would suggest another shower. The campsite was nearly full and they perhaps needed a few more facilities.
But overall great. Will be going back this year.
Matlock Bath great - lovely for a lazy Sunday afternoon wander.
