As a teacher for a local school running the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme this was an excellent site well situated as a stop over for the students planned walk.
The site has fantastic facilities, very clean toilets and shower facilities, with under floor heating which kept them very warm during the day and night. If you go please remember to close the door so they stay that way.
The area was large enough for everyone, noise was minimal, with no one impacted from other campers but also friendly enough to chat and pass the time of day.
The fire was a godsend in October and this along with the wood was delivered to our tent by the friendly owner, who was around most of the time to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable.
The views and walks around this area are fantastic and a short walk from Middleton in Teasdale which gave the students something to pass their time, mainly going for marshmallows for the fire.
Excellent site and I will be going to Leekworth in the future with my family.

The site is right next to the river Tees. The area has some good walks and great views. Middleton in teesdale is a nice quiet village with dog friendly pubs, shops, cafes etc. And is only about a 15 minute walk. We had two nights with two adults one dog (with EHU) £30. Good flat pitch with plenty of space. The almost finished toilet block looks excellent. The owner and his Nan are really helpful. The downside, the grass was a bit long and the half mile long lane to the site is very narrow with very limited spaces for passing.

Just returned from Leekworth Caravan park after a short weekend stay.
Leekworth is accessed via a long narrow road from Middleton In Tees. The road is about 1/2 mile long and just wide enough for a tourer to pass through safely however there are no passing places for caravans so cross your fingers you're not going to meet someone halfway along.
The site is situated in a valley and very picturesque. The toilet block was immaculately clean the whole time my family were there.
The price for the stay was reasonable. There were 5 of us in our party with a two berth caravan and a small tent with electric hook up. The cost was £80. 00 for two nights.
The site also allows camp fires as long as they are off the ground in a fire pit. We had a lovely roaring fire both evenings which were a godsend.
One thing that I think should be one of the main selling points for this site are the dark skies.
On the Friday evening we had a totally cloudless night and the Milky Way could be seen in all its glory along with the International Space Station and the Andromeda galaxy.
There is also a nice river walk into town where there are cafes, a large Co-Op, chip shop and pubs.
The only minor criticism I would give is lack of a seat in the shower room and no play park for our two young girls.
Overall a pleasant experience.

New toilet & shower blocks means the facilities are excellent and kept very clean. They are on site walks which makes it handy for dog owners and river near by. The village is a 10 minute walk away, with a small supermarket, cash machine, chip shops and pubs. High Force is a 10-15 minute drive away and has some lovely walks around and about. Owner is very polite and very willing to help. Overall is a lovely site and is highly recommended to all. We will be stopping again.

Have just returned from a long weekend at Leekworth.
On arrival at the site we were shown to our pitch. The site is level and pitch's are a good size.
The new toilet block is still not complete no gents as yet which is the only downside to our visit.
Washing up facility is only one sink which isn't a problem as long as you take a washing up bowl with you. Water supply is plentyfull and if you have electric hook up water supply is fixed to post so really handy.
The owner and family are really pleasant and friendly.
The site is very peaceful and quite with lovely views.
It's about a 10 minute walk into the village with all you would require.

I chose this campsite after a conversation with the owner as he did not mind me bringing my Rottweiler along.
Myself and my friend were very glad we ended up at Leekworth as it suited our needs very well and the owners were very friendly and polite. The site itself is flat and in a lovely position.
We were very impressed at the new shower and toilet facilities and the fact they were spotlessly clean.
There are some lovely walks amid stunning scenery and the local shops at Middleton On Teesdale provided all we needed for our short stay.
The only slight criticism we had was that the wood provided on the second night was damp and this made starting a fire quite hard, although the woodburners are a fantastic idea and work very well once going.
We would definitely recommend this site for its cleanliness and its peacefulness and we hope to go again next year although we wont forget the fire lighters this time

Took my partner and 3 year old son for a two night stay mine and my sons first camping trip and we loved it. We did not to use the facilities to much but on day two I was in need of a shower which unfortunately didn't go well. They are wonderfully clean warm and well equipped but I think I may of used a broken shower as it was a trickle I didn't bother washing my hair as it would of taken far too long I'm sure if I asked something would of been done but I managed and decided to wait till home to bath my son as he would of been freezing by the time I got him washed. Maybe a small chair to put your changing bag on would help but that's not important.
The owner was lovely even interupting his lunch to warn us our tent was pitched a bit too far over. The little log burner was a great idea and having the bags delivered was really handy. The poor lady cleaning the showers needs a gold medal I didn't get a chance to speak to her but I'd like to thank her for keeping the place so lovely.
We heard owls and birds of prey my son had tremendous fun trying to feed the chicken grass and had a new best friend every morning he got quite upset when we had to leave the chicken behind. Short walk to the local shops which have most things when you run out.
I think personally it could do with a little playground just a swing and slide for the kids but again my son was busy enough with nature.
Only drawback for me really was the portable loos, great having them dotted all over for night time loo emergencies and the owner regularly replaced loo roll so they never ran out if only they were as clean as the shower block by the end of the weekend they were a mess if I had bleach with me I'd of cleaned them myself.
We had an eight man tent a car and could of easily added a gazebo to our pitch. The electric never failed us once and there's plenty of drinking water taps dotted around the site to refill kettles and carriers. I am aware there are plenty of walks and places of interest but it was all about the tent and the stars for my brood.
All in all fantastic time if they will have us back we will definitely return. This time with a gazebo so I'm not cooking in mud and rain.

We stayed at Leekworth for two nights in a campervan. The owners are friendly and welcoming and we were pleased to get a level, hard standing pitch with hook up and water.
The site is situated in a lovely spot on the outskirts of Middleton in Teesdale with a short walk into town or longer possibilities along the Teesdale Way and Pennine Way, both of which pass close by.
The toilet/shower facilities are newly built and are very good although, as someone else has mentioned, the Men's facilities won't be fully ready until next year.
We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend the site.

This is a lovely quiet site with gorgeous views. The toilet & shower block was spotless. (Hooks on the back of the shower and toilet doors). The showers are free.
Also there are two portaloos available near to the tents. Work is ongoing and Robin has assured that the ladies block will soon be finished, hairdriers and all! Also, promised a freezer for iceblocks. Firepit was a godsend.
Which other site offers this for £5 pppn?
We didn't have the best weather but the site drained well. Must of been good because we stayed an extra night in the rain!
For children there are no special facilities. The river Tees next to the site runs very fast when raining. Although, Robin has fenced this area off. There were two families on site who did not find this a problem.
The site is a quick ten minute walk or a 20 minute stroll. A new Pizza takeaway has opened (very nice) and soon an all day help yourself buffet will be available at the Bridge.
Overall a nice site. Just needs a warden and a receptionist to make more use of the new reception area. It needs to sell milk, eggs etc.
We will definitely be returning. So you'd better get cracking Robin!
From the one you thought you would have a problem with.

Had an overnight at this site while on a cycling tour. The site has ample space in a great location by the River Tees.
The new facilities block was clean and well maintained though I think the male toilets/shower is still to be completed as the men are currently using the one disabled unit. Good job it wasn't busy!
The warden was very helpful and the information board gave useful information on places in the village for an evening meal.
My only criticism is that the sites website only gives travel directions from one direction. This is confusing when coming from the middle of the village, especially as the small brown camping & caravan site sign on the main road can only be seen from one direction. Coming out of the village turn right on the bend 50yds. Before the telephone box.
Would recommend and intend to return again.
