This has to have the best toilet shower block in the country! Amazing new spotless showers reminded me of a private gym facility. The showers are 50p for 10 mins and are wonderful. The site is positioned in a lovely area with plenty of walking. Although since we were walking from Edinburgh to London on charity walk the peaceful quiet rest was just what we needed. Good price and really nice owner, friendly & helpful. Would come back to this site without hesitation.

Wow!
Not many other words to describe this place. Very well tended grass with electric points for both tents and caravans. Very welcoming owners who clearly take a huge amount of pride in their site. We are very picky when it comes to using 'communal' toilets and bathrooms but its clear that someone must visit them a couple of dozen times each day - they were immaculate.
The site is pretty much right on the river Tees. Pitches are well spread - no living in anyone else's pocket. With scenic walks whichever direction you decide to travel. Middleton itself offers everything you need - bars, cafes, etc.
We will definitely be heading back here (already planning it). I have seen some comments about price and such, but you get what you pay for.

I can't speak highly enough of this site. It is spotless and in a beautiful location with good clean facilities on site. Excellent value for money, the Lane can be awkward so if you are towing make sure you abide by the arrival and leaving times. Robin will accommodate most anything, above all it is peaceful.

On our way back home to Germany we spent the last 3 days of our Holidays on Leekworth with our motorhome and enjoyed our stay very much.
The Location is really great, next to the river with free fishing, a wonderful public footpath running along the river to the Village, which had everything we needed (Supermarket, Pub, al really good butcher ! and Cafés)
The owner was very friendly and helpful and always around to speak to.
The amenity block was spotless clean and in a very good condition.
Very spacious pitches, a lot of room for tents, Caravans and motorhomes.
We've often been travelling around Britain with our motorhome and are glad that we've found this site and definitely will come back.

Great site. Spent 3 nights here.
You can't arrive early but other than that staff seem friendly.
Showers and toilets spotless, never a queue.
Sockets to plug in your own hairdryer.
50p per shower but you get 10 mins. They are pretty big, would be easy to shower yourself and the kids.
Site is lovely and rural, river Tees runs past the site. 10 mins walk to the village where there is a coop, pubs, cafes etc.
Would visit again

This site is perfection. All amenities are excellent. Very friendly/helpful owners. Yes the drive into the site is narrow but it did not cause any problems for us or anyone else that I know of. Nice walk either along the lane or by the river into Middleton-in-Teasdale. Everything there you could need. Plenty of places of interest to visit near and far. Will certainly be returning here and hoping it is soon.

First time to this lovely site in a beautiful valley right on the Tees. Stayed 2 nights over the 2nd May bank holiday.
Pros:
Great views and quite in that there is no traffic noise at all despite being close to Middleton-in-Teesdale
Site backs on to the Tees. So kids can play by the river and you can have a lovely walk along the river with banks covered in bluebells and wild garlic. Walking upstream also takes you in to Middleton in about 10-15 minutes (we had a toddler in tow so its hard to judge it properly).
Modern, clean toilet block.
Not overly busy/too many people crammed in despite being a Bank Holiday
You can buy a paper from reception.
You can hire a fire pit and wood – the absence of a night time fire from most campsites is such a shame
Cons:
There’s no playarea but with a lot of space most kids seemed to be able to amuse themselves.
It is not a cheap site. Whilst overall I think given the +’s its worth the money, when you are paying a fee towards the higher end of the bracket, having to pay separately for your shower (50p for 10 minutes) sticks in the craw. To add to the irritation despite paying you then have to press the button every 30 seconds to keep the water flowing. If the owners sorted this one thing out the site would jump into my must return to shortlist.
Finally, to echo an earlier post the fish and chips in Middleton-In-Teesdale are top quality.

Excellent site in a beautiful valley, surrounded by farmland and right on the Tees and the Teesdale Way. Spotless site, manicured but without being fussy or precious. Facilities were also spotless functioning and brand new. Very friendly and helpful staff, the fish and chips in Middleton-In-Teesdale was superb. I took the Middleton Railway 2 hr circular walk you can walk to the start of the walk in Station Bank, a short walk along the Tees right from the campsite, smashing views. My only caveat ? A shower where despite paying you have to press the button every 30 seconds to keep the water flowing !

Spent May day b/h weekend here.
The lane is narrow as has been mentioned and my friend purposefully didn't mention it to me as I'm new to towing, this being my 3rd outing. Having said that, I took it slow and managed without incident so it can't be that bad. It could be in better condition too, but it didn't stop us getting there.
The facilities are great, spotlessly clean and not too far a walk. The washing up and chemical disposal points are both covered. There is water and electric to each hard standing pitch (awnings go on grass) and I think I noticed a couple of electric points on grass pitches at the top of the site. There are a handful of seasonal pitches. There is also a cool looking bunkhouse on site.
We had some torrential rain and the site drained very well.
The site has some great views and is in a great location on the banks of the Tees. There's a nice riverside walk in to Middleton.
I'm not sure how entertained children would be, there are no swings or play areas etc but there is the river.
We used the Teesdale Hotel a number of times for drinks, and also visited the Forresters and Cafe 1618. We ate in the Teesdale on our last night, the chicken was great, the steak pie was very dry (we drove to the Strathmore Arms but they don't do food after 3pm on a Sunday).
A couple of points to note.
There are no grey waste points, you have to use the long grass.
Showers are 50p for 10 minutes, this is not advertised anywhere that I can see (a massive pet hate of mine).
We've a long history with the area, my family owned a caravan park in Middleton during the 70's and then a static in Eggleston up until a few years ago, but you just can't get tired of coming up here, it's a great place and a great base to explore the wider area.
