Great site in a fabulous location but. At £81. 50 for 2 nights it's not good value, especially when you add on the extra for showers at 50p a pop.
Constantly running out of loo roll too, so go prepared!

Spent three nights here during the latter part of May. This was a really nice site, in a fabulous location by the river.
The views around are excellent. Really easy to find, access is from the edge of town (South Side), but as other reviews have said, the access road is narrow, so may be a problem if encountering another vehicle coming opposite direction.
Should be ok, as hopefully caravans / motorhomes etc that are leaving, will be away before new arrivals get there. We didn’t have any issues. There is a brand new reception / shop and toilet block, with dishwashing area. Spotlessly clean. Showers are 50p, but you get enough water for that.
No issue with the extra cost, as the facilities were excellent. We had a very large hard standing pitch. It was level, so no hassle getting settled. A number of pitches are on grass, but wouldn’t image any issues with them. Walking into town is no problem. Either walk along the access road, or via the river.
About a mile or so, will take 20 – 30 minutes. Also, from the site, using the river, you can access a number of walks which can take you to surrounding villages or up to Low Force and High Force. Walks are pretty well signed, but would be worth getting some local maps or guide books.
Although we had excellent weather, this is a good site and its location is fabulous. Robin takes care of the general day to day running of the site and was really nice, helpful and chatty. His mum and grandmother are also about the site.
They were also very pleasant. Middleton In Teesdale is a nice little town and having been there before, would go back again. Also, would definitely use this site again.

Just got back today from 4 days camping. Great site with excellent facilities and views. The only negative is the price, a bit expensive to be honest but still loved it. Staff very friendly indeed. We will definitely go again when a bit warmer lol

Stayed here over the Easter break. Gorgeous location in the valley just outside Middleton in Teesdale. Access is down a long narrow farm track with with no passing space which makes getting in and out pretty interesting, especially for larger caravans! But it's worth it, lots of walks from site, lovely views and right next to the river.
Caravan pitches are spacious and mostly hard standing. We stayed on the brand new ones which have TV points as well as elctric, but they were so new the TV wasn't working yet. Next time, maybe. Plenty of tent pitches around the edges of the site and next to the river, and the fire pit hire is a nice touch. There's also a shop/off license.
Toilets and showers are brand new and absolutely immaculate. We didn't mind paying 50p a shower as they were hot and never seemed to run out. A lovely site, we would stay again.

Just the best campsite of my trip - very welcoming, excellent toilet and showers, scenic location, close to town and shops. Whilst I didn't use one the the fire braziers looked a great addition to the camping experience. And would have been welcomed on a cold night. Planning a return trip with friends in 2017.

Visited Leekworth twice in 2016. Early June and again in August. The site is in an ideal setting for anyone visiting upper teesdale, Great for walks along the river tees following the Teesdale way and Pennine way. During our visits we also visited Barnard castle and explored further up the tees valley and visited cow green reservoir and cauldron snout waterfall. The site is very clean and tidy with well spaced pitches. Toilet block is cleaned daily in the early afternoon, during this time only the disabled toilets are available to use, not ideal for those who are arriving to book in at this time. Overall I would say facilities are quite basic and could be improved. I would suggest adding a play area for children, there is lots of space but an addition of a small play area would make the site more child friendly. I would also suggest adding laundry facilities, as there are no washing machines or dryers available.
As mentioned in other reviews, the track leading to the site is quite bumpy but I suppose this is to be expected. The town of middleton is close by with a nice selection of shops including a well stocked CO-OP and a very good fish and chip shop. The price of the site is a little high considering there are sites that offer more facilities that are cheaper. But if you wish to stay in upper Teesdale you have a limited choice of sites in the area and leekworth is probably the best of the bunch. Overall a nice site in a nice location but lacking some basic facilities.

Went here last year and decided to return with different friends this year. Love the new on line booking system so you can select your pitches, the owner is so friendly and comes to chat to make sure everything is ok. The ground is very well kept, flat and lovely short grass. Loads of open space for kids to run around and the gated river is brilliant for plodging and throwing stones. Toilets and showers were immaculate every time we visited. We did the walk from bowlees visitor centre passed low force to high force and back, even with toddlers and very hot weather it was a brilliant day. Fire pits were amazing but we lit ours earlier on the 2nd night due to midges! We had fish and chips from the chip in Middleton, they were amazing! On leaving we had a lovely light lunch in cafe fresh in the village too. Already planning our return for next year.

My family had a lovely 3 nights staying here. The site is well kept, grass is in wonderful condition, toilet's are clean etc. The area is beautiful for walking and the river a lovely place to sit. The fire pit and picnic bench hire make for a really comfortable camping experience!

Just got back from a weekend break. We arrived late on the Friday night which was no problem. After been given directions to our pitch we had a look around the facilities on the site are spot on the toilets and shower block was outstanding very clean and well looked after. Didn't mind paying the 50p for the shower. We had a nice stroll into Middleton in teesdale and seen royalty as well. The only thing we didn't do was hire a firepit but will be doing it next time we visit

We were a bit concerned to find only disabled single toilet and shower available to use so spoke to the lovely lady at reception-10 mins later owner arrived -Sunday evening- and opened up the rest of the block for our use-really great response. Adult only section perfect for our needs. Campsite ground in immaculate condition-mostly caravans -some seasonal pitches.
