Overall a nice friendly relaxed campsite. This was our first camping trip for years and with children which was brave but we really had a great time. 3 large fields to choose from and pitch up where you like. LOVELY that they allow campfires too. There is a lovely riverside walk to bodiam castle from there which take 15 mins. Good children's play area although this did get a bit crowded. Only criticism is they seem a tad unorganised as we turned up friday evening having booked a pitch with hook up and was told there was none left as it was first come first served - so why bother booking I thought. Eventually they did sort us out some electric though but not a good start after a stressful journey!

We got back yesterday from what was meant to be a 3 night stay at Park Farm, but we extended to 4 nights because we were having such a great time and the weather was perfect. We arrived on Thursday and there was no staff in sight to check us in, so we found a fellow camper who informed us that it was a case of pitch up and someone would be round later to take your money. Seems this is the norm if you arrive any day other than a Fri or Sat. Drove round and checked out all 3 fields before deciding where to pitch. We chose the field behind the toilet/shower blocks. As promised the owner (Lucinda) arrived to take our money a few hours later, closely followed by her hubby (Max) who delivered logs round the site. This is the first time we've camped on a site that allows campfires, and we loved it. It brought out the boy scout in my hubby and the toasted marshmallows tasted gorgeous! The site was relatively quiet on the Thursday, but did fill up throughout Friday & Saturday, but not uncomfortably so. The showers were tepid, although much warmer on Monday morning as there were fewer people. The shower/toilet block was adequate and cleaned regularly. There was noise during the evenings, but not unbearable, and the no music after 11pm rule was enforced by wardens on the Fri & Sat nights. The walk along the river is pleasant, but the uneven ground would make pushing a pushchair a real challenge. The Castle pub was very nice, and the food we had on Saturday was exceptional. Yes it was expensive compared to some pubs, but the portions were huge and the quality of the food was superb. The only downside was that we went along there again for dinner on Sunday and they'd sold out of meals. It was 7.20pm and they were supposed to serve 'til 9pm, so we weren't best pleased. However back at the campsite we decided to pay a visit to 'Darren's Snack Bar' and got burgers, which were gorgeous - very meaty and tasty. He seems to be open for brekky every morning and burgers every evening, not just weekends. There was also a van parked in the field we were in on Fri evening, all day Sat & Sun morning, selling jacket potatoes in the evening and bacon &/or sausage baps for brekky (also cup cakes, freshly made, which were delicious!). Another van sold ice creams, which kept the kids happy. All of the food/refreshments sold on-site were reasonably priced, which makes a pleasant change. Overall we had a brilliant long weekend and will definitely return to Park Farm, many times! Incidentally if you need any shopping there is a Spar about 3 miles away in Hawhurst, which is good for papers, ice, milk, etc., but if you want more things, especially beers, wine and barbecue stuff, then carry on the A229 to Cranbrook, where you'll find a huge Co-Op, saving yourselves a lot of money but only about 10 mins further to drive.

The owners allow too many campers to pitch up which makes the place noisy, smelly, and unkempt.

It's fine to allow loud music and camp fires (which we like), but when there are so many people, it gets out of hand (couldn't see the sky for smoke, and the music went on and on unchallenged).

The children's play area is housed in a farm building and is not suitable for young children.

Still, the Rother Valley is absolutely lovely

Not a bad site, the showers and wash basin area is closed at 10pm and don't open till 6am, it was closed at 9:55 this week, its a bit early to shut this area, as most people are up late sitting around the camp fire, so, if you don't mind smelling like a camp fire till morning, or not having time to wash the kids before bedtime, then OK. The walk along the river to the pub is a bit more than advertised, more like 40min at best.

A group of 8 adults and 3 young children stayed here for a 3 night stay from Thursday to Sunday. The campsite is generally tidy and very clean.

The farmers daughter regularly provides logs and biscuits to campers and is a very nice girl.

They let you play rave music all night and have big fires.

All in all it was a great stay and the children particularly enjoyed the play area.

The adults liked the lake where swimming and diving are allowed.

We will definitely be coming back.

We stayed at Park Farm for one night as it was our first night under canvas as a family and we wanted to stay at a site with decent facilities just to ease ourselves into it. When we arrived, we were met at the main gate by two ladies who took our money and gave us advice on which field to choose to best suit what we wanted (there were three main areas, one of which seemed to be a bit noisier and geared more towards groups). As we drove in, because the site was so large and you can chose where you want to pitch up, the whole place had a kind of festival feel to it.

Although it wasn't exactly what we expected, the whole site seemed to be run well, the toilet and washroom blocks were clean and because of the gated entrance, all seemed secure. The play area consisted of a small aerial slide and a few swings hanging under an old farm shelter but was great for the kids regardless.

We walked to the Castle Inn at Bodiam Castle on Saturday aftenoon which took us about half an hour (we did have a 2 year old walking with us which slowed us down) and the pub is a nice kid & dog friendly place although the food menu is a little bit dearer than average but a very good standard.

All in all, we had a great first experience and would recommend Park Farm as a good, safe, clean site in a good location.

Upon arrival it was a free for all when it came to pitching your tent! There is plenty of space so it wasn't a problem. The main field is flat with plenty of remnants of old camp fires.

The facilities are of a good standard although if you want a hot shower I recommend getting up very early or using them off peak to avoid long cues. The Male shower block had plenty of sinks but only 5 showers (all included in the price).

The Kids were kept entertained with the swing park and there is a rope swing over the river! Fishing along the river is free to campers and only a 5 minute walk from the main field. Parents please note that you have to cross a fast road to get to the fishing!

The camp rules of no music after 11pm didn't stop some of the guests so I would recommend ear plugs if you want a good nights sleep. This campsite is full of life so if you are after a quiet break its possibly not for you. We enjoyed it and the kids had a great time.

Stayed at this site last weekend with a group of 9 adults and a 5 year old, all in tents. Wasn't really sure what to expect as some of my friends had camped here last year but we all really liked the idea of being able to have a proper open campfire. Our greeting on arrival was friendly and relaxed. Some of our group were already pitched and we arrived quite late in the afternoon on the Friday.

The overall feel of the site was one of being at a music festival but without the big stage! There were very large groups of people with from what we saw at least one stag party and one 30th birthday being celebrated. This site is ideal if you are looking to go away as a large group and don't want to worry about creating too much noise and bothering other campers as the rules are very relaxed and don't seem to be enforced that strongly. The setting of the sun was the queue for the music to start which was played until the early hours of the morning (4am), with not even a brief period of rain putting a stop to it. Was witness to the use several laser lights, the odd firework and what one of my friends genuinely thought was a mini fun fair but just turned out to be a rather large group who had decorated their encampment with flashing lights!

Overall though as a large group we did have a fun time but I would not choose to return here if I was looking for a weekend to get away from it all.

The owner of the site was very friendly and provided a constant supply of wood for the fire at a very reasonable rate. The shower & toilet blocks were adequate, though did not manage to have one hot shower all weekend, but wasn't bothered about that as it was so hot! This was probably because the site was quite busy. They were kept reasonably clean and the recycling facilities were excellent. Though they needed to be as the amount of empties deposited was incredible with at least one group being seen carrying an industrial size builders sandbag full to the brim with empty cans/bottles! If you do choose to go here, don't forget your earplugs.

We really enjoyed our weekend here at Park Farm. I think its the type of campsite ideal for groups of families and friends who don't mind a busy campsite with a bit of noise and music around the campfire, however the campsite wardens did hush everyone down at 11pm which was great. The whole place really had a festival vibe- lots of laughing and joking and when getting a bit hot there's a river to jump in or canoe down to the pub! The toilets and showers seemed very new and quite clean but hot water seemed a bit of a rarity but we didn't mind as the weather was so hot and there were loads of people. The play area seemed amazing for kids.Under cover in a barn! There was a friendly jacket potato van who seemed to be open all morning for bacon butties and hot coffee and evening for your jackets- good price too. Overall I think its the type of site that if you like your peace and quiet and your space its not the site for you. But if you're quite chilled out with things like that. Its fantastic. Do get there early on weekends though.

Just got back from a weekend at Park Farm. The previous few reviews are fairly accurate and we had a nice time.

We were there on a busy weekend and the showers were not always warm. There are barely enough for the number of people staying but they are cleaned regularly.

Not all of the kids play equipment is working and with so many kids is not really adequate. You have to keep a close eye on the kids because of the fairly persistent flow of cars around the site. It was fairly full and so there was not a lot of space to run wild.

This campsite is great for groups, but not really what you are looking for if you want a quiet, relaxing break. The site was very noisy (it's all relative) until about 11 PM which was not great for our kids. Noise starts again at 7.30 ish and is difficult to ignore.

All in all it is an ok site, but we probably won't be returning - partly because we don't often go to sites twice but also found it just too crowded and noisy. Perhaps if we were looking to camp with a group of friends.

Last and very important tip - your SatNav might direct you to the Farm/Oast house which is just over the main road from the campsite - beware of the dragon. She is not too welcoming of guests!
