It has been 3 years since we last visited this site and is the first time we have taken our 8 month baby camping.
The campsite has changed a lot. There is now an 'office' at the entrance where you need to book in and pay and we were issued with a tag to hang on our rear view mirror (we were informed that the following week they will be introducing wrist bands). The play area for children has expanded and they have spent a lot of money on new activities for the children to play on. Also they have added a lot more electrical hook up points. There is also an on site food van and ice cream van for campers.
Once a year a group of 10 of us go camping and we are based around the UK and we decided to chose here for this years enjoyment. We were greeted with enthused staff and like before were able to camp anyway as we were in tents. As we had the baby and my partner was on crutches we chose the lower field but close to the facilities so there was not far to walk for the loo and showers.
Downsides of this camping trip:
1) We didn't think and camped directly opposite the facilities on the other side of the main 'road' path. Although we were pitched in a group with our cars parked around us to shield us, we still had people walking through the middle of our camp, night and day to go through to the facilities. It appeared to never occur to anyone to walk 20 steps to the left or right to walk behind our tents instead of in between them. Also at night because of this we had a lot of people tripping up our guide ropes. This obviously is not the camps fault but other campers!
2) On the second day after returning from a day trip we discovered a very large family have pitched next to us. This doesn't bother us, but the very large field was semi empty and they pitched so close, that they parked behind one of our tents and their guide ropes was crossing one of our tents guide ropes. They also started a fire near our tent. This is not to mention them hooking up an amp and shouting down it until 2am. Security had asked them to be quiet at 11pm and we all also asked them to be quiet but they turned aggressive so we left them. I also heard a few other campers telling them to be quiet but there did not seem to be any security around to enforce their rule of quiet after 11pm. The next day after all of us making a big fuss about them they did move and repitch. Would have been nice in this instance for the camps security to step in and enforce their rule or even tell them to leave as they became abusive.
3) The female showers need a bit of maintenance as they are now leaking and a couple are just dribbles. However, the others were lovely and there was plenty of hot water, I didn't want to get out as it was cold outside!
4) The female toilet doors need maintenance as some locks do not work.
5) The camp, although are family 'prepared' are not baby prepared. Changing facilities are not a problem as we did this in the tent but the shower facilities do not provide room to shower with a baby. Luckily we brought the baby bath. Would be nice to have a larger shower/family shower for people with babies and there were quite a few babies on camp whilst we were there and we all said the same.
Goodsides of the camping trip:
1) Can pitch anywhere and allows groups to camp together.
2) Can park next to your car.
3) Campfires are allowed
4) The field is well maintained and had recently been mowed when we arrived.
5) Food van was very handy :) Fantastic couple running the van (used to be the old managers) with great food, happy and cheerful service, couldn't do enough for you attitude. Definitely recommended
6)Reasonably priced for what you get
7) Facilities were cleaned twice daily and I never found them dirty
8) Plenty of hot water
9) Lots in the local areas to do
10) Castle Inn pub has great food. We visited on Friday night. 3 course meal with drinks was approximately £25 per person
11) Saturday we visited the steam trains and the Mill museum where there is a collection of toy cars.
12) We went home on Sunday but the others stayed an extra night and this was not a problem, they just went to the office and paid for another night, no hassle.
All in all a great weekend trip and great first camping trip with baby.

We've just returned from a 1 night stay here. It is an average campsite with some good and bad point's. The good points are the flexibility to choose your own pitch, the late checkout time and the friendly staff. The bad point's for me were the campfires being lit all over the grass, a lot of camp sites provide wheels etc for this which protects the grass. The distance to the one set of facilities if you choose to stay in a quieter less over crowded area and the lack of a child friendly bathroom. But over and above all the biggest problem for us was that many campers took advantage of the laid back approach and were totally inconsiderate of those camping around them. We had a huge family cricket game being played by our tent which started at 11. 30 pm and went on till 2am! The toilets were at times disgusting with used sanitary towels and tampons chucked in open topped bins, this morning 3 of the toilets were covered in sick, the empty bottles of alcohol left outside indicated the reason why. I think this site has lots of potential but the very obvious and well advertised lack of regulations attracts lots of loud groups which isn't great when you are a small group with young children. I wouldn't go here again!

The campsite was quite muddy in places as it had been raining non stop for nearly 10 days. Being October there was plenty of availability so as there were a few of us we chose to go into the bottom field which seemed to have some seasonal caravans and we all found pitches that suited.
The children's facilities were great, the toilets clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a footpath which goes all the way to Bodiam Castle(approx 2 miles)and it was a very pleasant walk.
The site allows open fires on the ground and sells wood very reasonably.
We had a bag of logs stolen by a large group of 20 somethings who were obviously not regular campers and partyed until the early hours but the camp owner brought us a free bag of wood and kindling. I can imagine it being quite a noisy site during peak season so maybe I'll visit again out of season.

Stayed here for a second time for the weekend. A friendly welcome & a pleasant site.
Toilet & shower facilities were kept clean considering the number of people on site the staff did a great job. Although hot water was a bit hit & miss!
Enjoyed having the campfire of an evening, but this does mean it stays quite noisy late into the night. Not a problem with us as our children are used to this when camping but if you have little ones it may be a problem.
Play area good fun and beautiful walks were had by all in the surrounding countryside.
Only down side to this site is that they really do pack people in & it concerned me that tents were not pitched a safe distance apart. Also some campers did not adhere to the site code of conduct & so were quite loud & did have stupidly large fires.
A good weekend and would visit again but probably at an off-peak time.

Just back from 3 nights at Park Farm. First time camping with 6 and 4 yr old, went with friends who had children also all under 7.
Great site, rope swings kept kids busy for hours, park was good, being able to have camp fires was great, kids loved sitting around snuggling up.
Some rope swings over rivers so need supervision, but we pitched near row of swings over ditches which we could see from our tents. Kids loved the freedom.
It was busy as over bank Hols, but we found a spot and set up our 4 tents and although a lot of people, and groups no problems. Everyone was considerate of others.
We walked to Bodiam castle, which with kids is a good 40 min walk, very nice but further than you think!
Showers clean but fresh and shop on site would be good but spa shop 5 min drive and a co-op super Market 10 mins away in Cranbrook.
Would go back again.

Just returned from Park Farm near Bodiam, well situated for visiting Bodiam castle and a short drive to Hastings or Camber Sands. We went on a Bank Holiday weekend so expected the site to be very busy which it was.
On arrival it was hard to find a pitch (Our tent is not that big) but we squeezed in between other groups. The whole site was quite muddy as it had been raining a bit. I was quite surprised how much space people took up with tents, fires, gazebos and one even had a trampoline ! No rules appeared evident and the guests were able to Come & go at all hours, several groups had quite loud music past midnight with vans being started up at 1am to charge up the music boom box.
Site facilities were VERY basic, toilets there is one block to share in 3 huge fields. So parents with toddlers beware. !
Whilst they were clean, hot water in the showers & washing area ran tepid. Toilets were ok, muddy but frequently cleaned, the showers well we never got to use them as there were queues 20 deep every time I tried, so we gave up.
Children's play area good but Very very muddy, no bark or such like down help keep kiddies a bit cleaner. I'm all for mess & mud but there is a limit)
Overall a basic site, with limited facilities for the price. Site needs additional water block or Two, more washing up facilities and rules enforced. Whilst we had a good time I wouldn't rush back.

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at this campsite. It was the first camping trip I've ever been on with our own tent and I took my 1yr old and my 8yr old. What a great experience! My 8yr old took her bike and was off the moment we pulled up, made loads of friends and went off keeping herself busy in the playpark. I wasn't worried about her due to the number of cctv cameras around site. I had read on here the playpark was basic but I think it must have been improved since then as it was not basic, plenty of things to do.
The wash block was clean and functional and the water in the showers was always nice and hot even in busy times and there is no let up in pressure even when the block is full. The washing up block requires a plug or small washing up bowl to fit in sink as hot tap turns off as soon as you release your hand (except from the furthest sink to the right which I found out morning of departure!)
If you choose to have a campfire the staff drive around in trucks to offer logs around early evening at a reasonable price.
My baby slept from 7pm each evening without too much noise around her even though we were in field right by the gravel road and wash block. Only bad night was when 2 fire engines, two ambulances and a fire chief car went driving past about 5 metres from her in bed at gone midnight to attend to someone in the next field but that was just unlucky! Even on Friday night (of a bank holiday weekend) when the whole site was rammed, I still found the noise was very minimal after 11pm and I slept with no trouble.
There was a small icecream kiosk in our field selling ice cream which was a nice touch. We went to Bodiam castle (5 mins drive) which apparently you can walk to from site but not for little toddlers or buggies!
Also had a trip to Hastings and Camber sands all not too far out. A downside is the nearest shop is quite a drive so stock up whilst out it feels like a missed opportunity for the owners and customers for it not to have a shop.
All in all a great campsite and I will be returning with my children at least annually.

For our first excursion with my parents caravan we decided to stay near my in-laws in Rye and this site popped up on the search. Good reviews etc sealed the deal.
The site was brilliant although I did think that perhaps the price was a little high but it was full of families, couples, dogs and the smell of campfires! We pitched up with electric hookup and relaxed immediately. We got there on Wednesday just before the hot weather hit and although there were a lot of people it wasn't crowed at all. However, by the weekend the crowd had at least doubled and unfortunately the hot water and loo roll ran very low on Sunday morning. That said, we were not put off by that and will be back again soon!
Great for families with kids but if you're an adult couple that don't mind more lively campsites then you will get on fine here.

My daughter, grandson and myself have just got back from the our best camping trip so far.
We have had the best weather this year for our 4 days at this camp site. The camp site was well positioned for the places we wanted to visit, although I do think 20 mins for the river walk to bodiam castle is a bit optimistic but it was a very hot day which may have slowed us, but very much worth the effort.
The camp site itself was very well looked after, from booking in to leaving we were made welcome and the lady on the reception was very helpful.
The toilets and shower blocks were very clean and always lots of hot water. The children's playground was very well thought out as were the rope swings over the narrow muddy ditches, great amusement to see the kids enjoying themselves with not a electronic gadget in site.
The fact you can have small camp fires was really lovely to sit round and unwind in the evening. We all agreed for the type of camping we enjoy this site is brilliant.

Stayed at Park Farm for 5 days over the Jubilee Bank Holiday - also my hubby's birthday. It was our first time camping as adults, our 7 year olds first time, and we took a 19 week old puppy with us. Gluttons for punishment, and we're exhausted now, but the campsite was fab.
The play area was brilliant, with some stuff under cover and a fort on the hill with adventure playground around it, my boy spent ages there and also at the rope swings over the stream. Came back to the tent head to toe in mud but beaming! He made lots of friends and we had lots of visits from other kids coming to see the puppy.
She had a great time too - lots of mostly friendly dogs of all ages and all kept on lead, was very impressed by the dog warden coming round to check no animals were locked in cars, etc. No sign of anyone not cleaning up after their dog either.
Pitch where you like, we had no trouble at all finding a good spot with campfire ditch nearby and never had anyone in front of us, the nearest neighbours to the side were the other side of our car & far enough away it didn't matter. Next time I'll pitch further away from the statics around the edge who play their radio full blast in the evenings (including adverts for car insurance and so on, can't understand why!) - they were turned down or off after 11 and we saw wardens going round to check on that a couple of times. Didn't keep dog or kid awake!
Toilet block and shower block were both huge - 15 or so loos? - and kept really clean. They once ran out of loo roll in some loos (on the saturday night) but were replaced & loos cleaned that evening, so despite the rain making the floor a bit slippery & muddy, they did keep on top of it.
The walk to the pub was lovely, through fields along the river, the pub (the Castle Inn) was fantastic - wonderfully child & dog friendly, amazing weekend breakfasts and great evening meals) and bodiam castle was a fun day out - dogs are free in the grounds but cant go inside the castle, and my hubby even got to fire the trebuchet as a birthday treat!
All in all it was a lovely break and the only hard bits were having overexcited kids & puppy. Hubby loved his campfires and we coped with the weather. We'd go back with no worries!
