A lovely, friendly site - split into two areas, the more formal caravanning area and the informal camping area which is very hilly and exposed.
We were on the caravanning area which can also be booked for tents, all pitches seem to have electricity and water in this area. The site is very attractive and well landscaped - overlooked by a hill which gives a lovely walk and great views.
Although the site is quite high up, the caravan area is quite well sheltered, something we were glad of when we were hit by a storm one evening.
The pitches seemed quite generous to us, but the hard-standing is very hard!We struggled to get pegs into them at all and when the wind picked up they just pulled out - make sure you have some decent pegs and a good mallet!
Showers and toilets are very clean although the hot water seemed a bit intermittent - we had a few cool showers.
There is a well stocked shop, bar and restaurant/take-away on site - food in the restaurant was generally very good and good value (£6 - £8 for a main course) - although we did have one meal that was a bit over-cooked (well burnt really!) but I think that was unusual.
Lots of walks in the area and a number from the site itself.
In general, we had a great stay and will be going back - very friendly, clean and well maintained, but book early near peak periods!

We have had the pleasure of this site many times. We go with friends, all together 4 adults and 3 kids in two tents which we always get pitched together or the ladies pitch while the men usually help erect other tents or gazebo's to help the token novice.
The facilities are second to none, they are spacious, clean and always available. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food and service in the Pub / Restaurant are very good.
The children are aged between 8 & 11yrs, although have been coming here for 4yrs. They love the stream as it is ankle high and presents no danger. The play area and games room are also a good distraction.
The only negative I could add would be that it is usually windy and you are lucky to get a level pitch, however I would never let this detract from a great site.
I agree with the review that stated it is quiet.

Enjoyed our stay on this site. Pitches are interesting - not just straight lines! They were on the smallish side, but not a real problem.
Pitch we had was fully serviced - I think they might all be like that.
Nice showers etc. And there is a small pub / take away (and possibly restaurant) on site - we had a drink sitting outside one evening. There's a children's playarea too.
Access from main road is a bit tricky - don't approach from Windermere - must approach from other direction as the turn off is very acute, narrow and up a hill.
Nice walk directly out of the site, but we mainly headed off in the car to explore and this was a great location for doing that.
We found a lovely dog friendly pub that did nice food - Wateredge Inn (Ambleside) - right on the tip of lake Windermere.

Good showers and toilets and very nice bar/restaurant. Food cooked fresh to order if a bit expensive at £8 for burger and chips (enjoyed them though) Good and very friendly Service.
Unfortuntely the part of the site I was allocated was on a very steep and bumpy hillside that almost knackered my car. The tent was very exposed and almost blown away in a Gale. None of the pitches are marked making it a free-for-all. Suggest if you book you ask for a FLAT pitch and if they don't have any book elsewhere. I personally found the sloping site very uncomfortable and price was high at about £25 a night. If I had paid £10 I think I would have been over charged because of the slopes.

We stayed here in the school holidays and although the site was busy it was not crowded (party of 4 adults and 4 children in total)
Beautiful clean site with great views - a very tempting 'hill' to climb to the rear of the site! Toilet block and washing facilities excellent, very clean and warm with lots of hot water - there is a power shower in a large child friendly cubicle which was too powerful for the children! great for adults!
Our children loved the park and games room which were close to our pitch. The noise was minimal after 10pm (except the man snoring in the next tent!)
We stayed with friends who were also in a tent, the staff were very accommodating and we got two pitches next to each other - although we were unable to book for a whole week we managed 4 nights.
We used the shop which was stocked with essentials, however there was a supermarket nearby so that was really handy. Got a takeaway pizza and chips for the kids on the last night - ran out of food! which they really enjoyed. We used the site as a base to visit the local attractions which were all very good.
We loved this site so much that while we we there we booked for the following year for the whole week! Can't wait.

Stayed here Mon and Tues of bank holiday weekend at a cost of 33 pounds a night for 4 adults in campervan, one of the more expensive sites I imagine you will find.
The site had ample clean toilets and showers, a pub and restaurant, a shop, a little games room and a playground at the back. Appeared to have a lot of extra space for tents if they needed it, but was pretty packed with vans etc.
The restaurant served good meals which weren't as cheap as pubs, but when you see the size of them its OK. They serve meals to about 9pm and the pub (same building) stays open to about 11 I think.
If you are in any large transport, definitely enter the site from the south (Not the Bownes / Windermere end) as we found out the tough way. It is a sharp turn in up a hill, and considering it never stops raining in this place slippery as well.
Our site was on a severe slant, which can be adjusted for in a caravan, but in a campervan we had to put up with it for the two nights, and risked falling out of bed. With the business they were encountering we could not change sites.
The site is about 5 miles from Bowness (Windermere is not on the lake, about 2 miles back - rather confusing) and a cab cost us about 11 pounds in, and 11 pounds back.
The site was very pretty, very well maintained and had the convenience of the restaurant and bar, but due to its distance to the town and some of the pitches, I felt it is best for caravans with a separate car to drive into town and around the region.

We have been coming here for about 10 years and have always had a lovely stay. Facilities on site are excellent and staff are always kind and welcoming.
Fantastic location and perfect scenery, only a couple of minutes from Bowness.
We have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was always good but the takeaway wasn't brilliant.
Can get very busy during holidays etc but never had to wait for toilets or showers.
We recommend this lovely site very highly and we will be returning for many years to come.

Just had four nights, our first camping trip in our newly aquired trailer tent. Allocated a large hard standing plot with hook up and water. Beautiful surrounding views. Staff very helpful and polite. Sadly, had lots of rain so was really glad we were on hard standing as some of the grass pitches were very wet and muddy. The toilet and shower areas were kept very clean at all times and were lovely and warm. The cafe and bar were nice and the food was fairly good and fairly good value. Just got to try and dry the trailer tent out now and then will be ready to set off again! I would visit again and recommend it to anyone wishing to go to the lakes.

Absolute fantastic site, the club house was nice and friendly. Small shop for essentials and daily newspapers. The private bathrooms were the added bonus for us, we paid the little extra for the week and it was brilliant definitely worth the extra cost.
The pitches were set out to size of tents to accommodate all sizes. Nice and spacious, not crowded in at all. We were very lucky as we were almost on the flat on the electric field but those without were on a steep slope. The site is located up a hill so expect so slight rolling in the night.
At night their could be a little more lighting as we had to cross the road that split the site and it was extremely dark.
Would be nice to include a swimming pool one day as it would make it the perfect place.
Overall a fantastic site and we will definitely return.

Just spent 14 days at this site and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apart from the fact that the full service pitch had a drain that was higher than the caravan outlet, we had no problems at all. The staff were so helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The television reception is very poor, but you don't mind as the site is so good. The restuarant is very good, with a limited menu, and huge helpings. The is site maintained to the highest level and the toilets are spotless. There is no noise at night even when the children are here on holiday.
I will certainly visit here again.
