Me, my partner, and 2 children have just spent a week on this site on the ghyllside camping area, the ground was pretty level although not absolutely flat. There was a stream running all the way through the campsite, which was lovely for the kids. The play area, although out of sight of our tent, was adequate, my 8 year old football crazy son would have loved a field for kicking a ball about. Had a meal and some drinks at the on-site pub, food was nice and pub atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Toilet block and showers were immaculate and plenty of them (never had to queue) we hired a private bathroom for my teenage daughter which was a godsend, equipped with bath, sink, toilet, radiator, hairdryer, clothes rack for drying, and a big mirror. Games room came in handy for amusing my son but got quite busy at times as it was a bit on the small side. Make sure you have loads of 50p's if you intend to use this room! Plenty to do down in Bowness which is about 4 mile away, but also plenty of walking opportunities in the surrounding countryside. In conclusion, a lovely well kept site, highly recommended.

Very well run site with friendly, helpful staff. Toilet and separate shower blocks kept very clean, no tokens or coins needed for the showers. The bar area was great as we had a couple of wet evenings! Site has a play area tucked away in the corner of the site which the children liked. Sloping site but fairly level pitches can be found if you look carefully! The best site we've stayed at so far!

Excellent site and very picturesque if not a bit on the dear side! Toilet facilities were always very clean and the private bathroom was handy to use for our 18 month old. All the pitches are hard standing which can be a problem for little ones playing near the caravan. The site didn't seem too crowded although there were a lot of caravans on it when we were there but because of the circular lay out there was still plenty of space. If it wasn't for the price tag of £30+ per night this would automatically be our first choice for a stay in the lakes.

We have stayed at this site five times over the past year, and loved every minute. It is a very clean and well presented site. The toilet blocks are spotless, and as we have a three year old the private bath facilities that are free of charge came in very handy. The field for pitching your tent is very steep in places and we have pitched at a number of spots. We found the ground very hard in places. The small resturant and bar are very handy on site and they do allow children. Take away food is available. Bowness and Windermere is about ten minutes away which has a large selection of shops, bars, cafes and resturants. Hiring a boat is a great way to spend an afternoon. The bad points we have regarding the site is that the cost has increased over the past few months for the 2007 season. For a weekend stay in June it cost £100 for 3 adults and a child, with a family tent. Because of the prices it has made us think about returning to the site, when it would usually be our first choice!

Been visiting here for the past 3 yrs. Good site, friendly staff. The site is hilly in places but persevere and you can find a flat area, however the ground was very stony and I would recommend using rigid tent pegs, normal pegs will bend easily. Shower block spotless, cleaned hourly. Can be queues in early morning. Site is well worth a visit

Just visited the site and first impressions were good. When you arrive from Bowness, expect a tight turn and listen to the advice if you have a caravan. The site is very clean but if you have a tent expect to sleep at an angle as the vast majority of pitches are on a slope and the flat pitches go fast. The slope has a knock on effect in that most things fall of the table when trying to eat but this is easily over come with towels. The facilities (showers etc)are very clean but you can get sick of walking up and down the bank all of the time. The staff at the site were great, very friendly. Two blokes decided to drink a bottle of vodka and shout at the top of their voices, the staff didn't mess around with them due to the amount of famillies staying and they were told to leave. Over all if staying in a tent there is definitely flatter sites available but if going with a van, first class. We wont be going back due to the bank but we can't fault the staff or facilities.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the site ranger , who was very helpful and guided us to the best pitch in the field. we set our tent up in a torrential downpour but that is the normal kind of weather for the lake district so just expect it. The camp site facilities were second to none, scenery from the site was superb. However in low season the bar was closed throughout the week , we got around this by taking plenty of alcohol. Would highly recommend this site to all people going camping in the lakes, it was our first trip and it set the standards of camping experiences very high!

Just returned after the whitsun weekend. The site is great, we were on the Ghyllside with EHU, great views of the lake where we were. It is a very natural setting with the tents nestled between small rocky mounds. The pitches were flat. The facilities were top notch and very clean. The staff were very friendly. I would definitely go again

Am in my 30’s and enjoy camping with small groups of friends. Usually the camping trips involve walking, drinking, BBQ-ing and laughing. Park cliff is a great campsite, Very friendly and great atmosphere. I was quite surprised that most of the people we see there are quite young. The on site Bar and restaurant is a god send especially when it’s cold or wet. I only have one word to describe the showers and toilets – Awesome. They are the cleanest and most inviting facilities I have come across while camping. The only downside to this campsite is the ground. It can be quite uneven and difficult to pitch your tent in some places. I am a regular visitor to this place and would recommend it to everyone.

First visit to this site, found facilities excellent showers and toilets very clean. Excellent views of Lake District and Lake Windermere however all this considered, I think the prices they charge to camp on a hill is disgraceful, all pitches are based on slopes which is very dangerous especially when you have your own cooking facilities. Great facilities but awful camping area, would not return to this park again.
