A lovely site, the kids (14 and 10)loved it. The stream and climbing the adjacent hill provided hours of fun. The kids preferred this to the attractive playground. When we stayed there seemed to be people from not just all over Britian but also some Europeans as well.
The site was clean and well kept. Toilets and showers warm and clean. There were no queues despite being the height of the season.
The only negatives about the site were the prices in the shop (nothing unusual there!) and the gently sloping site which meant we slowly slipped down the bed every night. This said although a little expensive, we would stay again.

Like all the other reviewers we would say “don’t use sat nav”, we ignored that and it takes you around the back roads and along very narrow roads especially for big cars and I would hate to be pulling a caravan.
The site is broken into two main areas, one un-booked; you turn up and hope for the best, and the other you book in advance. On the advice of other reviews we took the booked option and I am glad we did. The hill for the un-booked area looked like Mount Everest and if you are going with family or friends then I would recommend this so you can camp together.
The space you get on the booked area is OK, we had to plan which way our 4+4 tent would lie out on the ground as it could have overran the gravel road. All the pitches have electric hook-up within easy reach of any cable.
On arrival you are guided to your pitch, maybe because it was our first time but it was a nice touch. The ground is harder than iron and we bent several pegs trying to find some soft ground and watch out for any rocks that stick out of the ground. The gates are locked at 11pm and reopen at 6pm, and it keeps out any late arrivals and reduces noise across the whole site to nothing. They even had nesting House Martins just above the wash area, a lovely sight to see!
Good facilities across the site that are kept clean and tidy with staff easily to find on most occasions. The shop can be pricey but it is no more expensive than any other onsite shop. Its open at key times but you only have to go to the bar and they will open it up for you.
The take away food from the site is shockingly bad, we all bought from pizza to burgers and I have to stay I wouldn’t again. This is the only real down side I found to the site.

We had a fantastic time at this campsite. The view from our tent was amazing. We went on Bank Holiday weekend and although it was busy we didn't feel squashed in.
The on site shop and restaurant are good value for money. The toilets and showers are regularly cleaned and well maintained. The children loved this site as it had a playarea and stream they could paddle in. It is a little on the expensive side but its worth it.

We found this site by chance, and booked in for 1 night. Pricier than others, but this site is really good, and facilities were spot on. Toilet and showers A1. Called in the pub and football match on, very comfy and friendly staff. It had been quite windy on arrival, but this died away later in the evening, which made it perfect. Scenery lovely. We woke early to the sound of mooing, and were amused by the herd of cows and calves strolling into the field opposite our tent. All this adds to the atmosphere of camping. We were a tad lop-sided, as we were on a bit of a slope, things kept sliding off the table and were a bit unbalanced (quite tricky when using a porta loo). Because everything else was so good, we just laughed it off. This site is well worth a visit. 5 stars.

Stayed over first may bank holiday 08, park was full and our pitch was on ghyll side where they have the pre allocated pitches.
My first ever camping trip and certainly not disappointed infact am now a true addict. Stayed with my boyfriend for 3 nights and loved every minute. Weather was brilliant first 2days usual winderemere rain followed but didnt spoil anything.
Park facilities were good, shop sold limited but adequate variety of food and bbq products as well as camping essentials and alcohol!
Resturant was fine little pricey but you are paying for the convenience so expected. Could do with being slightly bigger especially on wet days on bank holiday weekends.
Shower facilities were fine, clean and warm. Never busy either suprising as the park was at capactity.
Lovely atmosphere on park lively but not noisy and fab views.
Some not to challenging plesant walks from site.
Definately return excellent holiday!

I'll keep this short since the site already has lots of reviews !
Fully equipped, all the facilities and more, you can even book your own changing room.
Pitch is a touch small, not much space for car too.
Very family orientated, we would have preferred somewhere quieter and less kiddy oriented but hey you don't know till you try.
Fantastic area for walks, massive hill in the background that is great for walking up and gives incredible views of surroundings and lakes.
Quite expensive but then it is really for those who want every luxury. Not really for those who prefer to rough it a little.

Good family park in an excellent location for all the south lakes attractions. Some pitches are on a fair slope, some are rocky. Not good when it rains, and it does rain! Staff polite and helpful Services clean even when busy. Would return. Generally a good quality site with few major problems

Just spent a couple of nights at this site and must say it is one of the best. As mentioned in previous reviews it is pricier than others but as the saying goes 'you get what you pay for'. Touring pitches are hard standing with grass at the side so plenty of space for caravan, awning and car side by side. All pitches also get water and drainage. Had a few beers at the bar which was welcoming and reasonably priced (think pub rather than working men's club). The food also looked very appetising. Noise limitations on the site are listed as 11pm to 7.30am. It was if someone had a switch to enforce it. Deadly quiet in the allocated period. Toilet and shower facilities were plentiful and spotless. Play area was away from the touring area so the kids could scream and shout without disturbing anyone. Overall, highly recommended and top of our list for sites within 2 hours of home.

Just spent the last weekend of August and also the school holidays at this site. The site is really well maintained with the shower/toilet block in excellent cleanliness. To say the site is on a slope is an understatement. Crampons and rope wouldn't go a miss here. Also the camping section of the site is not the biggest. We were near the top of the hill and during the night you could be forgiven for thinking you were at ABC of everest. The wind was unbelievable at night. However that is not the park's fault. The shop and restaraunt are well stocked (if a little pricey) but never the less will have everything you need. Because of the hilly site the ground can be quite hard so it is advisable to take rock pegs, we bent a load of normal pegs. Great play area for the kids, nice little stream about 10" deep too that the kids can play about in. Right at the back of the site is "moor how" an excellent little "hill" that affords tremendous 360 degree views. But be warned just because i said little hill, it will still get the heart rate up a notch as it is steep. Once at the top a wonderful mixed moorland and woodland walk takes you south down to Gummer How and Fell Foot. We did this walk then onto a small boat (£1 adults 50p kids) that took us across Windermere to lakeside where we got the ferry cruise up to Bowness (£5 ish for adults and £3.50 ish for kids). Well worth doing. Rained on the saturday night exceptionally heavy, mixed in with the really strong wind gave for a entertaining albeit sleepless night. Well worthy a visit though if your planning a stop near Windermere. Bowness about 5miles north ( £10 in taxi), Newby bridge the same to the south, Kendal about the same to the east. All in all very pleasent weekend, worthy of visit (just dont forget crampons, ropes and karabiners etc!)

This is a lovely site to visit. The staff are extremley helpful and curteous and will go out of their way to be of assistance. The toilet and shower facilities are superb and are cleaned constantly. This includes the well equipped disabled one. There is a small shop and laundrette which are reasonably priced and open all day until approx. 10pm. The bar and restaurant are very good, with a nice welcoming atmosphere.
The only downside would be the naturally hilly terrain, particularly on the tent field. However, their are flat areas and the above makes up for it. As a wheelchair user, I found the hilliness a bit of a challenge, but we did manage to pitch near tarmac which meant the ground was smooth. Despite the difficulties, we will definitely return in the future, if in the area.
