Would definitely return to this lovely site where my boyfriend and I spent 3 nights over the first bank holiday in May. Nice pitches with electrical hookup and drinking water. Plenty of loos and showers all kept very clean. Friendly, polite staff. Well stocked shop and nice pub/restaurant. Doesn´t feel crowded. Short drive from Windemere. National trust walks are free in surrounding area and really good fun - information from reception. Approach from south if large vehicle or trailer as sharp turning!

Our second visit to this site and, once again, a fabulous time was had by all. I got poorly while we were there and the staff were very helpful and gave us the number of a doctors surgery we could just drop into. Bar and restaurant on site are fabulous, with family games provided on each table of the restaurant (like Snakes N Ladders, Jack Straws etc.). Food is truly excellent. You have to have at least one cooked breakfast during your stay. On the Saturday night there was a Halloween party which was just fantastic. Created a brilliant atmosphere on site and everyone joined in. Competitions for best decorated tent / caravan and fancy dress competition for every age group, even the grown-ups ! Lovely playground on the site, which the kids unfortunately did not get to enjoy this time due to the weather. One of the best things about this site are the bathrooms. You can either rent a bathroom for an hour or so, or for your whole stay. We always rent one for the whole stay as we have two shower-phobic children and it's lovely to be able to unpack all your toiletries into your own personal bathroom, with a nice toasty radiator to keep your towels lovely ! Not many sites around with so many bathrooms to rent out. Will definitely come here again.

This is a great campsite with great views of Windermere and The old man of Coniston. The squirrels bar and restaurant are a little pricey but you don't mind paying a little more for quality and service.Anyway you can always fire up the barbecue if you prefer. The shower block is large and very clean and although there is sometimes a queue for showers in the morning its not a major problem.Staff are very friendly and will help you with any problems that may arise. There are lovely walks in and around the area and the location midway between Ambleside and Newby Bridge makes it an excellent base .

This site is fantastic. The staff are brilliant, when my little girl was ill they couldnt help enough. The site is spotlessly clean, the facilities are great. We stayed over the Easter weekend and the site was full but there was still plenty of room. As previously stated by other posters the tent pitches are mostly on a slope but if you arrive early enough you may get one on the flat. That was the only fault we could find with the place. Some nice walks to be had from the site, great views of Windermere from the site and surrounding hills. We would recommend this site and we WILL be visting again. The kids loved it.

The camp was well maintained, with divine views over lake windermere, if one could manage the steep hill behind the camp site then the views were even more spectacular! The facilities were top notch. The only down side was that the tent pitches were on a slope, which meant that I rolled everywhere each night. I would highly recommend this site, FAB

First time we had been camping found the site first class. Staff helpful site on a bit of a slope but the views are outstanding from both the campsite and the nearby hill. Well worth a visit. I now have the camping bug. The showers were clean and the pub served both eat in and take-away food.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this site with my sister and her husband. We were on a hard standing pitch with electric, water and waste and my sister was in a tent without electric but still within the same area of the site. The camping field is adjacent but quite hilly, although level pitches appeared to be available if you got there early enough and looked around. The camping field slopes down to a lovely stream, which children could paddle in, towards the beer garden. At the rear of the site is a huge hill with amazing views from the top. There is also a large children's play area with plenty on to keep them amused. The shop is small but well stocked with everything you need, newspapers need to be ordered the day before. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome. There are two shower and toilet blocks for both male and female and a bathroom which can be booked exclusively for your stay. There is also another bathroom which can be booked for 45 minutes at a time for a £10 returnable deposit, which is great for families with small children who don't like showers. The bar and restaurant areas are lovely and clean and the prices seemed quite reasonable considering there was nothing in the immediate area to compete with. The shower blocks also have sockets so that campers can use hairdryers etc which I've noticed is a facility some sites don't offer. The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly throughout the day and the entire site was always litter free and well maintained. There is plenty to do in the area, with Fell Foot Country Park only a couple of minutes drive away and Windermere town centre about 10 minutes drive away, the Beatrix Potter Centre and an Aquarium are also close by. The site has no noise rules between the hours of 7.30am and 11pm and these are strictly adhered to by everyone. We commented that it was as if a switch had been turned on at 7.30 when suddenly you could hear voices and children playing. Equally at night by 11pm the site was nice and quiet, which again for families with children is great as you know they will get some sleep. We would definitely go back to this site even though it isn't the cheapest around. It is clean, friendly, well serviced and in beautiful surroundings.

This was a lovely campsite, with polite, helpful staff, wonderfully clean facilities, even on a bank holiday/half term weekend. There are two of everything facilities-wise, two sets of ladies loos, two sets of ladies showers etc which are open and cleaned alternately which mean there are always clean facilities available. They squeezed us in when other campsites wouldn't and due to cancellations let us stay two further nights. Full of families and kids but still relatively quiet, all the kids seemed to love the stream running through the campsite also, permanently splashing around in it even when the weather was freezing! However, the main area for the tent pitches was basically a hill and therefore very windy and uneven,I spent most of the nights rolling to the edge of our tent! It is also a fair way from anything, definitely would've been stuck without the car. But I would go again, one of our top 5 campsites for sure!

We picked Park Cliffe for our first camping trip with a borrowed tent. Had a great time, even though the tent was too small! We'd called in off spec the week before and managed to provisionally book the pitch because of a cancellation. We had a look round a few other sites, which were too big, with clubs and discos and were able to confirm our booking later in the day. We were on a nice quiet section, only three tents, rather than the main site, so not many people walking past. We were right by the stream that runs through the site, but it wasn't loud enough to stop us from sleeping, as we'd feared it might be. Kids had a great time playing in the stream, despite the cold, getting most of their clothes and shoes wet. We bought some cheap trainers in Windermere for the little one and used the launderette there to wash and dry their clothes, which seemed more expensive than it would have been on the site. Also had a lovely day in Coniston, nice meal in one of cafes, round the village, then down to the lake to watch the boats. Only went to the bar once, nicely done out, take away pizza was fine. Shop was small, accessed through the restaurant, but seemed to supply essentials. Showers and toilets all nice and clean, no queues, despite being a bank holiday. The whole site was very clean, can't remember seeing any litter. Happy to see recycling bins on site as well. Highly recommended.

Just returned from 3 nights on this site with my wife and two small girls. What an excellent site this is. The showers and toilets are immmaculate as are the pitches for caravans. All hardstanding and in excellent condition. All the staff were very friendly and there was a tremendous halloween party for the kids which everyone on the site Staff included seemed to take part in. Only downside if you are in a tent dont bother as the pitches are very hilly some goy washed away in the recent wet weather.
