The campsite is situated in an area of outstanding beauty and except a few inconveniences is worth visiting. The site is in a great location for local walks, sightseeing and lovely view from the top of the site.
Follow the route via Newby Bridge and avoid the Sat Nav route. If you follow the sat nav you will end up driving through a four foot deep ford which is not the best option. As you approach the campsite from Bowness on Windermere there is a very sharp left turn (170 degrees) into the road which takes you up to the site and you definitely will end up on the opposite lane to turn into it.
Customer service friendly and helpful ladies at the reception, nice staff at the restaurant as well. If you do not have a pitch with electric hook up and need to charge a camera battery, etc the reception will help you with this for a small donation to charity.
There are plenty of maps for sale and is worth buying the 60p ones, the Leisure Walks, if you would like to do a bit of hill walking. We have done the Gummers How walk and it is suitable for a 5 year old too.
Attractions We went on a cruise on Lake Windermere from Lakeside (easy to get there 10 mins drive, cheap parking - £3. 50 for 10 hours), had a delicious blueberry scone and cappuccino at Ambleside near the pier, visited the Beatrix Potter attraction, drove to Grasmere and Keswick and enjoyed lovely sceneries and breathtaking views (on a sunny day). We would definitely recommend all of these.
Facilities clean hot showers, clean toilets, private bathroom, laundrette and pot wash. The only negative point is that all facilities are situated in the centre of the campsite so if you are located at the far end of the site there is quite a walk.
Play area and games room nice but not suitable for under 5 years old children. There is a stream with freezing water, endless fun but with wellies on!
Restaurant and shop nice menu, reasonable prices, fast service and they do take away as well, The shop is well stocked and open until 9pm.
The site Some of the pitches have a great view but there is no electric hook up and pitches are picked on a random basis upon arrival. We had a pitch in the unallocated area and it was impossible to find a flat surface where to put our tent.
Yes, we knew that the terrain is undulating but we had no idea that there are only a few flat pitches. As a consequence, a specific area is cramped with tents and cars, as everyone wants a bit of a flat surface and the tents are really close to each other, less than 3 meters as recommended.
You cannot park your car fully on the grass as the soil is soaked and you risk to get stuck. So, everyone is parking along the main road and all the time you have to keep an eye on your child as cars are constantly moving.
We used some stones from the stream to align our table but you cannot do the same for your inflatable/camping bed or chairs. The slope was really bad (20-25 degrees) and as we had a big tent it was a continuous battle to keep anything standing (chairs, bottles, bbq, etc). I do not believe that this area is really suitable for 5/6 berth dome/tunnel tent as ours.
Based on this issue above I am not tempted to visit this campsite again unless will hire a holiday home.

We were doing a tour of the area so arrived well before the 2pm check in time - but no problem they put us on another pitch and let us book in early. Site very clean, staff great.
The walk to Bowness took us 2hrs 45mn - my husband could have done it quicker without this office chair dweller slowing him down.
Not much to choose between Bowness and Ambleside everything seems the same.
Only one downside on this site is that cant walk anywhere by road far far too dangerous - so it is over the hills, which you couldn't do to fell side park ony 2 miles down road - but you had to take car or catch bus which only runs every 3 hours and when it did turn up was full and wouldn't let us on so our whole plans for the day had to be changed. Taxi to Winderemere £12.
If you like this site there is another one we visited very similar with cafe on site and 2 pubs within 500 m at that is Scotsgate at Braithwaite - much better walks 2miles to Keswick on the flat and pedestrian walkways.
Bus stop outside which dropped Hikers off here to walk into hills, but we found quote a few 2miles that were for walkers (not hikers)

This was our first visit and we were very impressed. The reception was well equipped and the staff very helpful. We were shown to our pitch which was on the main pre-booked camping area.
There was a lovely view towards Lake Windermere and the surrounding woodland. Tents were all well spaced and at different angles (no rigid rows etc. ) which offered a little more privacy.
There is a second area for tents which is on a more hilly terain and offers better wider views. However, this is un-bookable and pitches can be picked on a random basis only upon arrival. This area is not equipped with electrical hook up points either, and the ground tends to be more rocky. We were extremely happy with the pitch we had which also had a water stand pipe near by.
The toilet and shower facilities were the best we have ever used. Very clean and modern with plenty of space. There are no hidden extra charges for these either. The only thing I would say is there are no adult only ablutions areas. We would like to see (quiet) adult only areas provided in most campsites. Park Cliff does have the opportunity to provide this as there are 2 or 3 separate ablutions areas for both men and women.
The on site restaurant and bar area was excellent too. Good prices and good traditional pub style food. Their shop was also open until 9pm for any last minute essentials. Camper vans and caravans are in a separate area which is also laid out very well.
Generally the site is well placed for country walks, Bowness and road access to other areas of the Lake District. We would certainly come back here again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in our tent at Park Cliffe.
We found out about this site on the internet.
We arrived to be greeted by two friendly ladies in reception, one whom gave us a verbal tour of the site.
Ground was very hard and we bent a lot of our tent pegs, but the small shop sold rock pegs.
Toilet block/pot wash was always extremely clean. Almost every time I was over at the block there was a warden there cleaning part of it. Very well maintained.
I would definitely recommend this site to others and will definitely be returning.

Very helpful wardens who showed us to our pitch. We were sharing 2 pitches between our campervan and my parents caravan, and its a shame it was all hard standing, with not a blade or grass in sight. However, reasonably flat, but very difficult to get rock pegs in.
Great site in terms of facilities. Booked with the kids in mind, and they loved the stream and the freedom to explore the adventure playground.
In summary, if you want a site with good facilities and play area this is great. But if you want a peaceful site it is not for you. Also, if you are camping in a tent, be warned that the camping area is on the hillside. I don't know how the campers stayed in their tents the slope was so bad.

This was a very clean and well maintained site where every effort had been made by staff and management to make it appealing to all. Beautiful hanging baskets and colourful planters lined the entrance making it very welcoming.
Staff were efficient and very friendly and after a swift check in we were personally escorted by a member of staff to our pitch which was a unique touch.
Pitches were quite close together and compact but still large enough for our 6 man Bear Lake with extension, however rock pegs are a definite requirement.
We did sometimes feel we were intruding on our neighbours due to pitching our tent to avoid facing onto the road and a tap being right in front of our tent although luckily they were very friendly and welcomed the company.
Toilet and shower facilities were definitely the best we had come across, immaculate in every way. Staff were replacing toilet rolls at 10pm every night to ensure no one got caught short in the early hours.
Showers were free, clean and always an endless supply of hot and powerful water and very rarely had to queue. Mops a welcome addition to ensure facilities were left spotless as you had found them.
Stream running through the centre of the site created added interest and occupied the children for hours too although wellies are a must!
The walk up the hill at the back of the site was a perfect place to walk the dog, watch the sunrise or sunset and offered commanding views of some of the Lakes peaks.
Would definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning to explore some more of the beautiful scenery of the Lake District.

Superb site, staff very friendly and helpful, nothing seems too much trouble.
We were running a little late due to accident on motorway, we rang and they waited for us to arrive and showed us to our pitch, offered to help.
Bar on site, restaurant, food very appetising and plentiful. Shop on site for groceries. Toilet and shower facilities very clean. Would definitely go back.
All staff helpful and approachable. This was our first visit to the area. We would definitely go back. Had a great weekend.

Lovely family friendly site I have visited a few times the facilities are amazing and provide for everyone young and old alike.
Stayed At short notice but they managed to find us some where to put our little tent next to a babbling stream which made for a pleasant / romantic stay.
The toilets are wonderful warm clean and modern and the possibility to hire your own bathroom would be a great advantage to those with small children.
The games room and other children's facilities also ensure that children do not get into any mischief through Bordem.
Food and drink on site are of good quality and price. I will return again if not only for the amazing views

This has to be the best site ever, I will explain why, we had to cancel original booking, with two hours notice, no problem they said just book another date, then we re booked, late on Friday night our two year old split his head open on the rocks, no problem said Elaine the warden, jump in the land rover (she drove us to Barrow in Furness Hospital twenty miles away, came in, entertained our little boy then drove us back again). Elaine also went past her finishing time.
Also fantastic clean modern facilities including the bar and restaurant, Everybody friendly and excellent large pitches in the touring area where we were pitched next to our friend's caravan.
We were even told not to rush packing up as our pitches were not booked up. You don't get service like this at other sites like havens.
Absolutely fantastic site in a stunning location with fantastic staff.

We stayed for 4 nights in a tent on the Moor How side with electric hook-up. There were more caravans on this side but we wanted a flat pitch and electric hook-up.
The toilet block was always clean and I never had to wait for a hot shower. I normally like a pub in walking distance but the on site bar served decent beer and food so I was happy.
Good walks in all directions and although top end price I was not disappointed. The off road walk into Bowness took just over 2 hours but was much better than driving into town.
