This site is great. Has everything you need for a good camping holiday. This was are first time in our caravan and all the people around where very helpful. There is a big hill at the back of the campsite which we went to the top of but beware you have to pass cows and I am terrified of them. Once you are at the top the view is fantastic.

Well managed site, with all amenities. Excellent shower block well maintained and cleaned several times a day, even though the site was full.D ecent pitch although pegs for hard ground needed. The no noise rule after 11pm was well kept. Good all round site, will happily go again.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Park Cliffe found the pitches for tents were nearly all VERY hilly and sloping. The toilets, showers etc were always spotless, plenty of hot water. The bar served good value meals and the shop was well stocked. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was good, if you dont like to be in the centre of Windermere then its for you. Would I go back? Yes but on a pitch with electric hook-up because they are flat, but more expensive on an already costly site.

Visited this site for 3 nights after reading previous reviews and apart from only being able to find a pitch that was on quite a steep incline (as are most pitches) we found the site to be clean, facilities excellent and the staff very friendly.
The games room and adventure playground were enough to keep two 6yr old girls and a 16yr old boy amused and out of mischief, just.
My only criticism, it would have been nice if the site was nearer to Windermere (at least a 15mins drive). But, then you wouldn’t get those spectacular views from the top of the hill at the back of the site would you!!!

June 2005 This was our first camping experience and we were not disapointed. Arriving on a thursday, there were plenty of places to pitch a tent in the designated tent area, which has stunning views. Prices were slightly top heavy, but I feel the extra was worth it after now visiting a couple of other campsites. Shower and toilet facilites were excellent, with free hot water and dish washing facilities. Meals in the pub were reasonably priced, and the portions were massive. Definatly cheaper than eating out in bowness though. Pleanty of attractions to visit relativley close by, including a zoo which was fun, limas are allowed to walk around freely and come and sit down with you. One thing about this campsite though, if you are planning on arriving on a weekend, get there early. By friday evening I personally could not see a spare place to pitch a tent, but dont let that put you off this lovely campsite.

May 2005 Just returned from there now. Must say i was very pleased with the campsite, the facilities were spotless all the time the showers were the best ones i have seen on a campsite. The staff were very friendly and helpful i asked if there was any chance i could get a level pitch because i had a little toddler and they found one for me right next to the little stream that runs through the site(the main pitches were pretty steep).
The site has a nice little bar/restaurant just for food and drink,no entertainment there, there's also a onsite shop, playground, small playroom. I would gladly recommened this campsite ,i had a very nice stay. Best if you are in a car though 5min drive to Bowness 10 mins to Windermere. Hope this helps you decide!

May 2005 Excellent Site!! Stayed here for 3 nights over the bank holiday and had a wonderful time. Sites facilities are excellent clean showers / toilets. You can even book a private bathroom for 45 mins for a £5 deposit. I recommend that you book a pitch with an electric hook up for an extra £3 per night as these pitches are flat and from what I could see the other pitches where very hilly and on slopes.
The staff were very helpful and polite and they even let us pitch up earlier than normal. The site shop has adequate supplies for everything you need and you will prob pay around 5& more than you would at supermarket. Milk was 50p, Bread 80p, canned pop 60p etc.
The restauraunt is very good for evening food and you get very large portions, spag bol and garlic bread set me back £6.25. Breakfast however is expensive and of an ok standard.
As mentioned in other reviews if you have a trailer or caravan you will DEFINITELY need to approach from the south as the turn is extremely sharp.
You will also definitely need transport to get into Windermere / Bowness as is approx 5 miles (15/20 mins drive), and ther is no bus route and a taxi will set you back between £10 - £13.
I will be definitely visiting here again soon.

September 2004 We visited this site after reading the reviews and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We arrived quite late on the Friday evening and there was only one possible place left to pitch our tent despite the fact that we had pre-booked. It really is a 'find your own spot'place with no assistance given in helping you to do so which as new campers was a bit daunting. Fortunately the pitch we ended up with was in our eyes the best on the site! But in hindsight an earlier arrival would have been less stressful as it took so long to find a pitch we ended up putting the tent up in the dark.
The site is in a lovely setting and the randomeness of the tent pitches makes it very attractive. The toilet and shower facilities were good but in the shower block there was only one hairdryer so might be an idea to take your own, there is a plug in the showers and the toilets.
Thought the price was a bit steep though at £45.60 for 2 nights for 2 adults, 3 children and a dog. £3.80 a night for the dog!!!
If your going for a week's holiday make your arrival on the Sunday and you'll have the pick of the pitches as the park emptied almost completely then.
Fantastic Supermarket called Booth's in Windermere well worth visiting. It's not really visible from the main road but is located up beside Lakeland Ltd.

July 2004 Booked this site for 3 days and found it very clean and well maintained.
There were plenty of staff on site and were very helpful with all enquiries.
There is a lot of sloping pitches for campers, try to avoid weekends it gets busy. I thought the prices were a bit top heavy (£19.00 per day) for 2 adults and a dog. The camp shop you will need plenty of money to use this ...BE WARNED.....
Finally the weather was poor which made things a little worse. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would use again if in the area.
Many thanks to all the staff and keep up the good work.

14-16 May 2004 Being a camping virgin I used the reviews on this site to select a good site for our first time out.
I must say that we were not disappointed. We arrived early and were greeted by friendly staff who explained the parks facilities. One point is that, although relatively quiet, we struggled to find an even pitch.
That aside I can honestly say if this is what camping is all about then bring it on !!!!
The toilets and showers were spotless. Hot water was free for both these and the washing up station. The small shop was well stocked and open at sensible hours. The bar and restaurant were a little expensive but the food was of a high standard and the portions were large.
The site offered some stunning views and was situated about 4 miles from Bowness so it serves as an ideal base for exploring the Lakes.
First impressions count, especially when you’ve never camped before. I have come home with an immediate urge to return. I cannot fault this site.
A more balanced opinion would no doubt come from more camping experience and returning in high season ;-) 7/10 Jamie
