We have just used this site as a stopover on our way to Fort William. We checked in on an extremely wet Friday afternoon, the staff were all very helpful and the lady in reception even remembered that I had enquired about a family room for bathing our toddler and she even made sure we were pitched as close as possible to the family room.
Lovely site, very clean warm facilities etc. Moffat itself is a couple of minutes walk away, we had a walk round and ordered a Chinese for tea which was lovely as well.
We were all packed up and ready to leave at 8am the following morning but the reception wasn't open to get the deposit back on the family room key, however I got talking to some people and one lady very kindly offered to get the reception key and return my deposit which meant we could get back on the road nice and early.
Would definitely recommend this site as a stopover point on your way north or south, and we are definitely going to go back and spend a bit longer there.

We have used this site before (many years ago) and were pleasantly surprised that quite a few hardstandings have been added (last time we had to camp in the late arrivals area to avoid getting bogged down, even with a small motorhome).
The wardens were very friendly and helpful, the toilet block was always clean and the showers hot.
Moffat itself has all the shops one could need (the bakery has some excellent rye bread!) and we had a very good lunch (game soup) and an excellent evening meal (venison pie) at the Star Hotel.
Would stay at this site again if only it stopped raining in Moffat!

Moffat CCC site
What an amazing site. It's surprisingly large, bigger than we expected but it certainly doesn't feel cramped! The pitches are lovely, flat and spacious, with plenty of room between units. The hardstandings are flat.
On arrival, we were welcomed by an extremely friendly and helpful pair. They had a look at available pitches and offered us one with plenty of field space around it as they knew we had our 4 year old with us.
The site was very busy when we arrived but they pointed out that the majority would be leaving the next day (we arrived on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend for 6 nights) allowing our son plenty of room to run about.
The access to the site is on a little road that looks like it's heading in to a housing estate, luckily we had a look on google street view before we arrived so we knew what to look for and make sure you follow the directions on the map that's available from the camping & caravan club website. The road is pretty tight so make sure you don't arrive early, or else you may have the fun of meeting a unit coming in the opposite direction!
As others have said the toilet block does appear dated, but all the facilities were immaculately clean and worked - which is the most important thing. As long as they work, I don't mind too much what they look like!
There isn't a play area on site but there's ample around about. The village of Moffat is literally a stones throw away. Only about 1 minute walk and you're in the town. This offers everything you could need including a bakery and butchers. The co op is right next to the caravan site and is a good size so stocks everything you could need.
There are 2 play areas within a couple of minutes walk from the site. At Station Park there are pedalos for hire and crazy golf. A little bit past the park are a number of circular walks which can be easily followed by the signposts.
In summary this is one of the best sites we have stayed at. In the whole week we only used the car once, there is ample to do directly from the site. The staff were brilliant, the pitches spacious and the whole site was very well kept. We shall definitely return!

We stayed at the camping and caravan site, Moffat for 7 days. The wardens were very welcoming indeed. We were allocated a pitch, it was central to the site and we were happy. It seemed to us all pitches would be fine.Lovely hill views, open and spacious.
The toilet block was clean and adequate. In need of modernising maybe but no complaints here.
The nearby co-op is great, so no need to take lots of food. It took us 2 hours 35mins from Preston and motorway all the way. Easy to find the site on arrival. As mentioned by others, just remember to turn left at the children's nursery, but if you don't it is easy to turn around.
We enjoyed eating out in Moffat, lot's of choices.Claudio's Italian restaurant was a special evening out.
We were made very welcome in the Railway sports bar by Alistair and Nicki. We wanted to watch football and this was the perfect place to do so. They offer great value bar meals with super smiley service and good conversation. The lounge bar next door, The Black Bull is comfortable and has a lovely restaurant. One night we were treated to a live band, all provided by Alistair and Nicki.
We will visit Moffat again, a lovely market town. We purchased local produce from the market and the locals were welcoming. Despite much rain we had a great holiday on this site.

Since they've been adding hardstanding (more each year), we've been able to use this site regularly as a stop-over. Before, the grass was always too soft for our small motorhome. The flip side is that there seems less room for tents. The Wardens seem more friendly now than previous teams. I'm surprised to read reviews saying the toilets are outdated - there are many CCC sites worse than this one!
You can take your dog into the Buccleuch Arms for a warm welcome and a delicious bar meal (and they filter and bottle their own local water) - a voucher from the site gets you a 10% discount. For a longer dog walk and fabulous panoramic views, go up to the woods on Gallows Hill. Otherwise, the dog run on site is more generous than most, with a burn for the dog to paddle in.
As it's a CCC site, it is more pricey even as a Member. But there aren't many other stopover sites in the area - check their reviews as some are less appealing.

We only stayed here 2 nights on our way to Scotland, the site is very close to the M6/M73 but far enough away so that you do not get any motorway noise.
We were welcomed by the new wardens, who were just settling in, they were helpful any very welcoming, I was struggling to uncouple the caravan as the electrics are tucked away under the car, when one of the assistant wardens left his work cutting up a fallen tree and came to help me.
Moffat is 5 mins walk away and is a lovely market town, with a regular bus service to Edinburgh and Dumfries.
Several eating places give discounts to campers from the site.
Toilets very clean but rather dated. We would not hesitate to use this site again.

I'd visited this site before but wanted to review again. On my arrival, I was warmly welcomed and booked in. The weather had been wet and owners were trying to think of best site for me. They were very helpful in making sure I was set up for the night. Toilet block very clean though dated. There was some workmen on the site but they didn't disturb my visit at all with their machinery. Moffat as always very friendly with good walks for the dog. The site was still quite busy with caravans but I was the only tent.

On arrival greeted by many wardens which was a little confusing as we hadn't used a C&CC site before. We checked in promptly and our request for a quiet location was acknowledged. We were promptly shown to our pitch.
It was hard standing and in a quiet location, near the facilities. The shower / toilet facilities, whilst dated, were always clean and the water very hot. The showers were on a tap which meant you didn't have to stand under them and keep pressing the button. There were only four showers so if you were in a hurry on a morning you needed to get there early or queue. I'm a late riser on a morning so didn't queue, just needed to make sure I was in the shower before cleaning at 11.
The site is near the motorway so many tourers came and went whilst we were there. It is a very busy site but people on the whole were very friendly.
The Co-op is very handy which we liked; Hammerlands country park / store was also handy and a nice walk. They allowed dogs which was great. In fact, Moffat, a beautiful little town, was very dog friendly. Moffat is a tourist town with lots of coaches visiting so very busy during the day but after 3ish it quietened down and was pleasurable to walk around. Lots of places to eat in or takeaway.
The site. Two dog walks which were well maintained.
I would visit again but probably as a stop off.
The surrounding areas are fabulous. You need at least two weeks to explore. St. Mary's Loch is amazing but visit early before the coach parties stop. A lovely cafe on the loch side provides a hearty breakfast.
Many visitor attractions on the way to Selkirk which must be visited. Selkirk and Galashiels are little towns worth a visit. The surrounding areas of Dumfries and the Solway Coast is definitely worth a day trip.
Overall we had a fabulous holiday, with fabulous weather.
Would visit Moffat again but reservations about the site, purely because we enjoy total peace. Out of season I can imagine this site being fabulous.

Have just arrived back after a very pleasant stay at this site.
The welcome could, perhaps, be friendlier, but this site seems to be so busy that the poor folks in reception seem to have their work cut out just remaining professional which, of course, they are. The assistants who jump on their bikes to cycle with you to your pitch are very genial, however, and make sure that you know what's what.
The facilities are dated and showing some signs of wear, but they are clean and tidy and obviously well-run. Likewise the grounds are very neat and there are plenty of water and rubbish points. For such a busy site there is no real disruption and people happily come and go each day with little fuss, which is a testament to just how well-run this site is.
The local Co-op (a five minute walk if that) is very well-stocked; so much so that it is hardly worth bringing a large supply of your own unless you are very fussy about brands. It also opens at 7am so is perfect for breakfast supplies or getting each day's food. The Hammerlands centre is popular with the fishermen but also has some play equipment for the kids and a small garden centre with a shop that sells camping spares plus a cafe.
In all, this is a lovely site that has just about everything you need. Moffat is lovely and Dumfries, Lockerbie and Selkirk are all within easy reach. Having lovely weather really helped, but even in the rain I think it would have been pleasant.

Very nice site, good pitches. Staff were professional but didn't really go that bit extra based on this being my first time camping. Could have been a bit more welcoming. No personal touch. Site was extremely busy but had adequate space for my pitch.
Dogs welcome here and have a good wee dog walking section should your best friend need a quick 5 mins in the middle of the night.
Would like to try other sites to fully compare.
