Brilliant campsite very clean very flat site. Showers and toilets superb. The owners very friendly and helpful. The town of moffat is a great place and the people in it are very friendly. Like another contributor said the star hotel is very friendly pub. Went there with tent and motorbike nice grassy pitch, three minutes walk into moffat. Will be back as they always have some event going on

Just had a couple of nights in midst Moffat. It's a great site, everything will maintained. The only problem was the access road into it, massive potholes dotted all over it. The wardens and assistant wardens are very friendly and helpful!

Having just bought our first campervan albeit a second hand one my wife and I eagerly anticipated our first outing. First of all the Moffat C & CC site is open all year round and in close proximity to the M74 and about an hour's drive from our home. Secondly, we were not disappointed with the site and the staff were very helpful in choosing our pitch. Thirdly the toilet/shower blocks were very clean and toilets and washing areas ample. Finally the site is ideally located with a Co-Op supermarket and the main street of Moffat only a minimum of 5 minutes walking. The town has plenty of eateries and I would personally recommend the Star Hotel. If like me you like to visit second hand bookshops than Moffat has a well stocked on just off the main street.

We can't wait to visit in the summer and make even more use of local walks and the fishing lochs next to the site.

 Little Gem

What a find, lovely site set on the outskirts of Moffat town itself. Very near to local Co-op, also easy walking to the town which has many interesting shops.

Lovely fish and chip shop as well.

When we arrived it was wet and cold but we were warmly greeted and shown to our plot with a full explanation about the site and local area.

Facilities were spotless.

They even have a 'doggy'area where your dog can go of lead and play. Loads of 'poo' bins also provided.

Only stayed one night on the way 'down' south and another night on the way back, but can see us using the site again.

Stayed here on a recommendation of a friend.

The wardens were extremely helpful and polite and the whole site was a credit to them.

Toilets and showers were spotless despite the site being almost full the days we were there.

Short walk into the town where there is a cracking butchers, also a baker virtually opposite him.

Many others shops in the town and quite a few pubs and a wine bar.

Turning left from the site takes you to a large Coop which is useful.

Actually noticed some nice walking areas just outside the town as we were leaving, so well worth a walk around.

All in all a nice peaceful site on the outskirts of a nice town.

Ideal for motorhomes.

Would I return?, yes, no contest.

We have just returned from spending three nights at Moffat campsite and thought it was well run. Staff were very helpful and friendly and are a credit to the site.

Toilet and shower block is very new and very clean no matter what time you went in.

Only a few minutes walk into the town with restuarants, shops and pubs.

I would definitely return to this campsite.

The site is very close to the town of Moffat yet did not suffer from traffic noise. It is very well managed, pitches were pristine and the toilet block was very clean and well maintained. Showers are free.

On arriving at the site there is a sign making it clear that non Caravan Club members are welcome. There is however a premium too be paid, making my small tent and myself a little over £15 per night, just a little steep. Members would have paid around £10 which would have been good value for a site of this standard.

I was informed that due to heavy rain the pitch might be sodden, however it seemed to have drained well and was not a problem. I was shown to the site by a warden who was helpful and friendly.

Overall it was a good experience and I would not hesitate to use the site again.

I visited this site for an overnight en route further North. It is a nice and tidy site on the edge of the town. The washrooms are obviously brand new and spotless even with the site almost full. You are crammed in and the pitch I was allocated, I felt I was hemmed in, but as people left in the morning it was an easy hitch up / drive off. The road in and out is a bit of a pain with people parking outside the local nursery so manoeuvring skills will be tested.

All in all, Moffat and the surrounding area is well worth a visit and I will return.

The comment I made some years ago still applies - the approach road will crack your crockery and bruise your buttocks. This should have been sorted out by now, and as the main user of the road perhaps the club should be taking the lead. This site makes an excellent stop off on the way to the highlands, being well maintained with friendly and helpful managers. Do not expect rural bliss - this site is laid out like part of the town that it is in, with streets of hardstandings crammed in to achieve greatest occupancy and tents banished to the edges as far as possible from the facilities. At least the speed limit is almost compulsory, as there are so many streets and and corners!

This is a gem of a site, typically well kept as you would expect from C&CC with brand a new toilet & shower block, Friendly wardens and its situated just over a mile off the motorway making it an ideal stopover en-route to the north. The site is a 10 minute walk into the lovely little town of Moffat which has all the facilities you would require. We had an excellent meal in the Star Hotel (the world narrowest hotel !) we will definitely use this one again.
