What another excellent site for the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Despite the odd heavy shower during our week we had an excellent time.
Moffat is a picturesque town with excellent shops just a few minutes walk from the site.
For the ramblers I would recommend a trip to the Grey Mares Tail waterfall.
Moffat is very central for visiting places like Lockerby, Dumfries, Gretna, Hawick and other Borders Towns.

We have just returned from our first camping trip. When we arrived it seemed that they had overbooked, even though all our party has paid a deposit. Therefore we had to wait ages to be taken to our pitch. Not a good start! It seemed to us that this site is more geared up for caravans and pensioners, as one evening our children were told that there were no ball games allowed on the site.
The toilet facilities were clean but you were turfed out between 11.00 am and 12 noon so that they could be cleaned. No chance of a lie in anyway as where we were is a stream which you can hear all the time. Caravans are stored on this site and several times a day a little tractor would tootle along and move the caravans about. When they weren't doing that they were cutting the grass, usually when you were having a snooze.
While we were there the Co-op was broken into during the night and the alarm went off for what seemed like forever, then the thieves set alight to the getaway car and all you could hear were explosions! Not only that, a cement lorry got stuck in the mud on the site and they tried for hours to get it out, revving the engine etc. It was still there next morning and before 8.00 am they were trying to get it out, again revving and making a bloody racket! We have come home absolutely exhausted.
The site is in the town and there are shops, takeaways and pubs in walking distance.

Visited the site at peak season, really busy weekend, however were given a good position on site with the staff very attentive and extremely pleasant. Were even taken to the pitch. Toilet blocks are very large with separate Toilets, sinks and showers. All were kept clean and fresh. There was facilities for dish washing and water points at various places throughout the site for drinking and cleaning. Only big negative is no on site play park for kids, and apparently ball games are discouraged although no one complained about our kids playing tennis or kicking a ball about.
The site is located just a short walk from Moffat town centre and a 5 minute walk to a Co-op supermarket that is open to 10pm. A 5 minute walk will also take you to Staition Park with a boating lake and playpark for kids. Adjacent to the caravan park you can access a garden centre come cafe with small animal park and again children's play park. This is located at the opposite end of the park entrance, through a gate and the cafe is to be recommended - the food is excellent and service first class.
The price per night is a little steep, however if you become a camping club member you can get a discount. Would definitely visit again.

Our family of five stayed for five nights. It rained every day, but that didn' put us off moving to Moffat later that year!
While the site does not have as many facilities as some, the shower blocks are always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
One of the beauties of the site is the location. Close to the motorway, lovely scenic drives to Edinburgh (1hr) or Selkirk and easy acess to Glasgow too. But if you want to stay in Moffat you don't need to get back in the car. 5 minutes to the main shopping street, the park, the supermarket and the Hammerlands centre now has a soft play area as well as a small outdoor play area.
There are also countless lovely walks whether you want to stroll along the river or venture into the hills.
Plenty of places to stop for a drink or a bite to eat and good bakers, butchers and greengrocers on the high street. So good we moved here!

We stayed at Moffat (first visit) for two weeks at the beginning of July and couldn't fault the site. The showers and toilets were always clean and never had to queue for showers (there were four showers in both mens and womens block unlike previously quoted). The site is really handy for shops, pubs etc and the Co-op is just off the site so could pick up shopping on the way back as is open until 10 pm. We did quite a few walks and visited Dumfries, Gretna shopping outlet and Glasgow as well as areas roundabout. We would definitely visit again.

As novice campers, this site was only our second experience of camping and we (me, husband and 6 yr old and 3 yr old children) were very pleased with everything about the site. The staff were very friendly - lovely idea of man on bike leading you to your pitch with EHU. The pitch was large and, although on a slight bank, suited us down to the ground. The toilet/wash facilities were kept exceptionally clean at all times and clearly the staff had a passion for running a site and were very happy in their work. There was plenty for the children to do, both at the farm and at the local park. Moffat itself is a lovely town, very friendly, welcoming people. Plenty of pubs and fish & chip shops and lots of great shops. We can highly recommend this site for peace and quiet but with lots to see in walking distance.
As a novice camper I'd love to see toilet blocks at all sites having Lockers to hire so that all toiletries could be stored in the bathroom, rather than carrying them to and fro. Just an idea that I hope some campsites will give some thought to. Happy camping!

Visited this site after a recommend from a friend.
On arrival had to wait a few minutes whilst someone else was checking in and joining the C and C club, but received an apology for having to wait and then was checked in quickly and efficiently. Followed Ian on his bike to our pitch and was told where all facilities were.
All facilities were to a very high standard and, although there were only 2 showers in both Male and Female ablution blocks, I never saw anyone queuing,(in the male one!) despite the site being apparently full.
The short walk into Moffat was well worth it, plenty of shops and pubs. The people of the town could not be more friendly and gave the impression that visitors were really welcome.
Only downside is that Edinburgh Woollen Mills outlet is only 2 minutes walk away and with a wife like mine we did not need this.

Having read the previous posts, we were disappointed with the Moffat site. We felt it was not of the usual standard of other C+CC sites in terms of pitch presentation and the verges were heavily eroded.
We were in the field next to the animal centre and when it rained, the road turned to mud and the children walked it into the awning!
On arrival, I did not remember what pitch I had been given and the attendant was evidently annoyed when he had to go in and ask his colleague where our pitch was situated. Previously on C+CC sites, they sort it out between themselves in my experience.
However, to give a balanced view, there are some plus points! The site is within walking distance of Moffat and we did a fantastic walk from the site up until the hills. The children enjoyed having the animal park next to us and the dog walks were easily accessible.
Moffat is a nice little town and the Tourist Information office was very informative. There are plenty of pubs and my friend and I went out for a couple of pints – the saloon doors opened and everything went quiet as they all turned to look at us. Tie your horse up outside for a quick get-away!

Beautiful site, 5min walk into Moffat. Also if you walk past co-op 2mins down the lane there's a great park and play area for the children. Showers very clean with plenty of hot water.
Rabbits around the site drove the spaniel demented. Great walks in the area, very nice site manager extremely helpful.
Definitely be going again, buying a blindfold for dog.

I have been all over Scotland, but never have I been to such a welcoming, friendly village, and I do mean the entire village. Every shopkeeper, waiter, bar person, greets you with the same genuine warmth, Moffat is truly amazing.
As for the site, well attended to, same warm welcome from the ladies behind the counter, who were always smiling, always helpful plus every camper is personally taken to their pitch and given a full guide to the facilities.
Only thing, which isn't a negative, more of a be prepared for parents, the entire toilet blocks close down every day for an hours cleaning between 12 and 1, which is tough trying to explain to a child why they have to hold on for an hour! However, the woollen mill is a 5 minute walk in an emergency! Great site, amazing people and we can't wait to go back.
