We went with friends and our children and found it easily enough. Our friends went two days before us and we went to them. We paid £5 for a key fob to be able to access a safety barrier to get into the site which we would get back if we handed it back in before 12 on the day we were leaving. I found it difficult to reach the scanner from inside the car and found it a pain but it did make the site more secure.
You go down long tracks to get to site which are really dusty in summer and your car will need washing after. Once on site though you will see it is worth it as there are several fishing pools scattered about which sets the scene beautifully. We were pitched quite near the very generous play area which suited us as we could leave the kids to it. They came and went at their own pleasure and they loved it, although at night this did get noisy but to me the parents need to have more control.
On site there is a shop and a 'fryer' which opens in the morning and at night and does things from bacon butties in the morning to pizza and chips at night. The toilets and showers were cleaned every morning so if you were an early bird always guaranteed a clean shower. There was an inside washing up area with a hot and cold drinks machine and there was also a freezer. This site was lovely and I really enjoyed it here and so did the children. Surrounding areas you have Cannock chase which is great for walking and penkridge has a market on some days.
There isnt much I would change apart from perhaps locking up the play area at night I know it wouldn't stop all the children but it may put some off as it was a little bit late to be playing at gone half ten.
Will go back though as scenery was amazing overlooking Cannock chase and surrounding area.

This was our second stay at Pillaton Hall and was pleased to see improvements had been made.
They now have take away food on site, serving bacon rolls to pizza. Last time we had to travel off site to find such food. Service was a little slow but food was good and environment very clean. Food hygiene practices were there to be seen.
A children's play area has now been added and was well used.
We came across five different members of staff and with no exceptions found them all to be helpful and very friendly.
The only negative point is the showers which although hot and clean, are not very practical to use. Eg nowhere to put your clothes/shoes where they wouldn't get wet. Indeed the water actually seeped to the outside of the cubicals.
They offer EHU mixed in with non hook ups so it was easy to pitch our three tents together. We only used this as a base to attend the V Festival which is only about 15mins away.
Its a Lovely well kept site at reasonable prices,
We will definitely use this site again.

My family and I camped here for 5 days, it's a lovely site, I would highly recommend it to everyone. There is a lot of space between tents etc, a brilliant park and crazy golf area, a little shop selling pretty much everything and the lad that worked in their was very friendly and helpful, a small take-away food bar which is open at weekends. The showers and toilets are clean, there's always toilet roll and the water stays hot in the shower. The wash rooms are spacious and clean. All the staff were friendly, we hired one of their hook ups which was 20 metres long which was perfect for a 4 man tent.
It's very close to Penkridge and the market there is worth a visit, the views of cannock chase are nice.
The only thing I would complain about is that its not very clear on the map when you enter pillaton where the actual entrance is or on the actual campsite but we found it eventually! Also the farmer driving the tractor shouldnt park up outside the exit gate to make his cup of tea's as it was highly annoying waiting for him to move and queues did build up! The motorway noise is slightly bugging but you get used to it.

Stayed here for 10 nights and had a great time. Campsite is ideally situated, we went to alton towers, drayton manor, snowdome, waterworld, cannock chase plus more. Great base.
Campsite itself is ideal, we had electric hook up, pitches are well laid out, very busy at the weekends but we never felt overcrowded, pitches were well spaced out. If you are into fishing then this would be ideal as there are 4 fishing lakes through the site. We were pitched just back from the play park, and very close to the toilet block. Park and crazy golf in the centre of the campsite.
Toilet block and washing up area are kept clean by the staff but I felt if other fellow campers were to tidy up more behind them then these areas could have been kept a lot more tidier. The toilet blocks were cleaned every day, as previously said I felt the the people using the facilities could have tidied up a bit more behind them - bet they don't have cleaners tiyding up behind them at home!
Penkridge is the village approx 1.5 miles form the campsite but don't be put off that it is just a village - we used the swimming pool, very basic but great to pass an hour or so and also great showers. There is also a great Chinese which also delivers to the campsite, highly recommended and also a great fish and chip shop and also another great gift shop called Tia's. Campsite also has a takeaway which does breakfast (we never used for breakfast) but also opened in the evenings and sold pizza, burgers etc which were great value for the money.
Barrier is in operation to access the campsite which does give you a piece of mind as far as security is concerned. All in all this is a great site and ideally situated and we will certainly return if we are back in this area.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at Pillaton.
This is our 3rd visit and we still love it.
Kids love play area and spend hours at it. (aged 5-10yrs)
Price for EHU pitch really reasonable.
Toilets clean and tidy. Floor can get muddy but owners had provided hose for people to wash down area in between cleans but some nice camper stole it!
Free showers.
Shop with opening times displayed as not open as much during weekdays.
Little fryer also displays opening times.
Pot noodle machine now gone as someone decided to smash it up for the money. My eldest girl loved it!
WiFi available for additional cost.
Pitches level and spacious. Do need rock pegs though as we lost a few pegs.
Owners were telling my partner about upgrades to showers, shop and play area all planned in the future.
Went for a lovely carvery just up the road. £5.99 and kids eat free!
Lots of days out on the doorstep. We visited animal zone in Penkridge, local swimming baths, RAF Cosford Air musuem and Hawkstone follies.
We will visit again and again.
What more can I say. Was tempted not to leave a review as don't want too many people finding this little gem!

We have just spent our main 2 week holiday at Pillaton, I was a little dubious when my daughter in law suggested 2 weeks, but we have had a fabulous time, the grandchildren (which is why we went) loved the play park.
My son and grandson (8),loved the fishing, hubby and I just relaxed, knowing that we did not need to
Watch the kiddies every minute.
Dan the warden is very helpful, and busy all the time, checking/cleaning toilets etc.,
Toilets and showers were warm and spotless, always a supply of hand washing liquid, and toilet rolls, even the showers had body wash, should you forget to take your own,
Ladies showers had a little seat, shelf and shower curtain, but hubby said that there were no curtains in the mens showers, but did not cause any problems,
This is a fantastic family site,
We went into the Penkridge market. Which is well worth a visit,
Penkridge is only a few minutes drive away,
With the Co-op which is very reasonable, and there is also a chippy that serve mammoth servings, with a wide range of different dishes to choose from.
Having read this forum before going, I followed the advice about rock pegs, and was pleased that we did get some as the ground is very hard, which is a bonus when it rains because there is no sludge or muddy puddles.
I am not a pizza fan, but the pizzas are to die for, yummy yummy.
My only complaint about Pillaton is the rough roads through the camp, not very user friendly for mobility scooters, but we will definitely be going again, hopefully for a few days before the school holidays end.
Washing up facilities were perfect, even supplying washing up liquid, always plenty of hot water,

I stayed in pitch no. 175 and was literally a few steps away from the waters edge. It was truly lovely. The fishing pools have 'pegs' or fishing stands so I think that families with young children need not worry too much about the water hazard, although to be on the safe side I would chose a pitch that wasn't so close.
I was non-electric and paid £12 a night, which was a bargain! The site has amenities dispersed throughout the site, and I enjoyed using their Wifi service too, and found the cost of £7.50 for three days reasonable (there is a scale of costs from one day to a week). There were plenty of EHU pitches too but I had no need of one.
In the main fishing pool there is a small fountain. It looks lovely especially at night when it is under lit with coloured lights. The gushing sound of the fountain, more obvious at night, is not for the weak bladdered though.
My children report that the shop is competitively priced, not the overly inflated prices of items that are often got in campsite shops.
The showers, toilets and dishwashing areas were spotless and kept well stocked with toilet rolls. The bins were located at a couple of different points throughout the site too, which made it easier to go to the closest one. The water points are everywhere, you should not have to walk too far to fill the kettle.
The main shower block, adjacent to the shop, has placed on the wall some large print menus from a couple of different restaurants and takeaways nearby, complete with prices and phone numbers.
The warden stays on site, you'll see him on his Golf Buggy and he's extremely helpful. He told us which caravan was his and told us to knock on his door anytime if we wanted to find out the directions to various different attractions in the area.
Penkridge Village has a farmers market every Wednesday and Saturday which are well worth the visit.
Now, the only negative about this site, and hardly the fault of the site itself, is that the ground is extremely hard. Any camper will need enough rock pegs for every pegging point and guy rope, and take a sturdy hammer with you too.
If you are thus prepared you will really enjoy your visit to the Pillaton Hall Farm, it's one of the best, if not the best, campsite I have ever come across.

We decided to book a weekend at Pillaton as a quick get-a-way and to check out our unit before use over the summer holidays.
Lovely site, around 2 - 3 miles from the centre of Penkridge.
We had a pitch close to the play area, which was one of the best we have seen on campsites. Facilities were fine, shop sold the essentials and lots of stuff for kids. Takeaway seemed decent value.
Showers are a little cramped but served their purpose.
Not into fishing but can see the attraction of this site to those who do fish - tents can be pitched next to the lakes.
Plenty of families there for the weekend - not too noisy though. Campsite seemed to empty by 11am on Sunday though!
Cannock Chase Visitor Centre at Marquis Drive is worth a visit, with cycle tracks and good walking throughout Cannock Chase also.
A great site for weekends - hope to be back there soon.

Just come back from Pilaton hall farm, we had a wonderful stay upon arrival reception staff were friendly, found our plot quite easy with the map and set up. It really is a wonderful scenic site we were right by the lake with a fountain in the middle. There is a small shop that has a lot of things from food, to camping equipment, sweets and toys all reasonably priced. There is a chip shop that opens in the morning selling bacon, sausage and egg butties for £2-£3 then around 5pm for chips, burgers, pizza and children's meals again resonably priced kids meals £2,50 with a drink. Burgers £2.50 pizzas from £5.
There is a washing up area that provides washing up liquid in a dispenser on the wall plenty of sinks, there's also a freezer for ice packs. The toilets are clean had plenty of decent toilet roll. Sinks for washing and cleaning teeth with mirrors. The showers are nice and clean there are 5 lockable cubicles with shower curtain to keep your towel and clothes dry. And soap dispensers on the wall, the floor can get a bit dirty during busy times like morning and evening so I recommend flip flops.
There are menus on the wall from local chinese and indian restaurants that will deliver to the site. There is a play area for children which is really nice swings slides climbing frame tyres ect and also a large sand pit with a few spare buckets and spades. And also a crazy golf course that my kids loved its £1 for an hour but you do have to leave a £10 deposit for the club which you get back. We really enjoyed our time at this site and will definitely be returning.

Spent a fabulous weekend ( 2 nights) here with my 3 kids aged 11,9 and 5 and they loved it. The whole site is well spaced, there is no feeling of tents or caravans being on top of each other.
I thought the main toilet/shower block was perfect, it was clean and well maintained.
There are plenty of wash up sinks, I never had to queue once.
The little shop is just that - a little shop though it is stuffed with loads of little nic nacks. We never used the little fryer, however it was very popular but never overcrowded.
My only regret over the whole weekend was that I didn't take my fishing rods, however this will be rectified when we return.
The whole place has a friendly and well run atmosphere, it is one of the best sites we have visited.
