This is the first time we have stayed here, friends of ours recommended it to us and having booked a fair bit in advance and hoping for spring weather it was rather daunting when snow fell before our stay. However we need not have worried, because when we arrived there was hardly any snow left and the sun was actually shining! We liked the fact that we were shown to our pitch because we were concerned that we might get stuck in any wet areas after the snow had melted but the grass on our pitch was really firmer than we had expected and we were very pleased with the conditions all round.
There were two playgrounds - the one for younger kids being newly installed for this season a warden told us - and this was absolutely FANTASTIC! There was a huge amount of sand covering the playground which our kids loved - and the wooden 'fort like' structure and play equipment were brilliant. We were pleased that there was a separate play area for our oldest kid and we were able to let him go off and play on it by himself with no worries - he loved the huge slide! It started to get colder and a bit windy mid afternoon most days but we wrapped up warm and headed for the shop and the kids were able to choose little toys and sweets to keep them amused in the caravan. There was a baby calf by the shop and leaflets inside on places to visit locally so we never had a dull moment at all.
This shop had a good assortment of things for sale like bread, milk and other groceries and was very handy to have on site. It always looked clean and tidy and the girls in there were polite and cheerful when we went in. The loos and showers were kept very clean too and it was good to have somewhere to get beefburgers, chips and pizza for when we didn't feel like a microwave meal (again!). I understand they opened for breakfasts too. They were very busy on the evening we went but we didn't have to wait very long and the staff there were friendly. Food great by the way!
Our family doesn't fish but it was nice to have the pools there just to look out on and there was a fenced area for somewhere to let our dog off to have a good run around in.
All in all it was a really pleasant experience in lovely relaxing surroundings and we shall be booking again for later on in the year. Thank you.

Lovely, large well laid out site. Large pitches, well laid out site. Nice views. Clean, compact facilities despite awful weather inc snow, ground quite dry despite recent weather. Well stocked small shop. Excellent takeaway for breakfast and suppers. Really friendly staff & well organised from reception to taking to pitches. Good dog walk. Would recommend definitely. Good Saturday market in Penkridge, nice local shops & pubs. Good fishing facilities if you fish. Excellent children's play areas fairly new.

Site was easy to find with good signage off the main road
Booked in at reception and obtained the barrier pass
Met on the drive by Ken in his buggy who showed us to our pitch and guided us in
Ground was level with no standing water
Nice view of Cannock Chase on the right and the M6 on the left but this did not bother us at all there was some very light road noise but not noticeable
The ducks came to see us everyday which was cute although my cat was petrified
Toilets were well heated and there was plenty of hot water for showers
The grounds were very clean and well maintained
Playground was brilliant. The little fryer was closed for the season and the shop was shut 2 out of the 3 times we went
Overall a good site with easy access to a number of attractions
I would recommend a trip to the RAF museum in Cosford which is free!

Stayed twice in august, once with the family to try out the new tent and second time with 5 other family's. Sat nav takes you straight to the entrance and signing in is a breeze, short drive down to the site which is all marked out and easy to find your pitch. Kids playground is great, as are the fishing pools (big thanks to the fisherman who showed my kids how to fish as I am clueless)showers are great and hot. Toilets cleaned on a regular basis. Fryer is a great for take aways etc. Good drainage on site also. Would stay again and will be this summer

Used this site for the August bank holiday weekend staying in our tent. We were also with four other couples in their tents.
At reception you are given advice on the rules etc and provided with a barrier card (£1 deposit returnable when you leave)
Well, whoever had the great idea of cutting the grass on the Friday before one of their busiest weekends deserves an Olympic gold medal.
The weather was forecast as indifferent for the weekend and what a great combination mud, grass and water is inside our tent.
Perhaps there is a good reason why the grass was not cut earlier in the week but the staff suffered for that cock up as the toilet and shower block were covered in grass cuttings.
The site itself is brilliant, large fishing pools, ducks and ducklings, children's play area and big pitches but RULES aplenty here. With 'threats' of tents being moved if not pitched in the correct direction or on the centre of your pitch.
The 'donkey work' is done by the two wardens, the man looks after the fryer cafe and the lady cleans the loos (both mens and ladies) Well she must have been on a work to rule this weekend in protest at the grassy mess. Cant say I blame her either.
Take some rock pegs with you if your tenting as there are lots of stones/bricks under the grass.
One of our party needed to loan a EHU extension as his standard EHU cable would not reach the hook up post.
The main shop is located at the site entrance which is a good 10 minute walk from the camping fields. It seems well stocked with the normal fare.
Penkridge village is a decent place to visit with numerous pubs and a busy canal with lots of narrow boats chugging along.
Will no doubt use this site again as its so close to where we live.

Visited this site with 4 other families. The people who run the site ( sorry but didn't get their names ) were really helpful, and couldn't do enough for us.
Bad points - toilets & showers are a little old and scruffy, the site shop is right by the reception which is a good walk from the actual camping area.
The good points though far outway the bad, very spacious pitches, great play area for children, 4 fishing lakes to choose from ( even a novice like me caught fish ) and the actual camping area is spotless.
I will definitely return to this site again

Had a two night stay at Pillaton. Very friendly staff in the reception. We were escorted to our pitch by a friendly warden who was extremely helpful.
The site is made up of tourers and tents, thought the site had a lovely atmosphere. The toilets were nice and clean and the showers had lovely hot water.
The 'Little fryer' served nice pizza's and burgers and was really close to touring fields. There's also a tea/coffee vending machine in the area which we think is a nice touch.
We had a trip into Pilkinton which is a lovely village with numerous nice pubs and eating places but unfortunately isn't really in walking distance as it's about a mile and half from the touring fields.
Overall this is a lovely site

Actually on this site as I write as there is internet wi fi available for £7 for 3 days. Didn't think we would use it but its been a godsend.
Play area is wonderful, booked our pitch on line and paid on line too. Lovely staff. Lovely wide spacious pitches and all in all definitely a site we are going to visit again and again.
Was meant to be staying for one week and we have already added another week to our hols due to this site being just perfect for our family.
Well done to all the staff and owners of Pillaton Hall Farm.

We have recently returned home after spending yet another great 2 weeks at Pillaton. My son and his wife with 2 children and a 9week old baby
This was our 3rd annual holiday and w ill certainly not be our last, if the weather holds we hope to go back for a few days, but will certainly be there again in October.
I cannot speak highly enough of this lovely site and their staff, all very very friendly, especially Ken and his wife Judith, nothing was too much trouble for them.
The toilets were immaculate, even the second week when there had been some heavy rain, I never saw a blade of grass in there, always plenty of hot water (free) with hair and shower gel provided should you forget to take your own,
My grandchildren loved the new play area, and we only ever saw them at meal times.
The little fryer was open this year more often than last year, courtesy of Ken, whose cooking is to die for, bacon, sausage and egg butties for breakfast yum yum, pizzas were also a big hit with our family,
There is now a shop (Leisure Time) that sells virtually everything for the caravans and campers,
If what you need is not in stock Ian the owner will get it for you.
The fishing was very good, and my son bagged quite a few big ones.
To sum up Ken and Judith are a credit to this camp site, and we hope to see them again next year.
Thank you Dave and all your staff for another wonderful holiday.

This was the first time we have visited this site and it most certainly will not be the last. The Toilet blocks were clean the showers hot, the wardens Ken and Jude were more than helpful, thank you.
The play area was fantastic for the daughter who, spent all day everyday there. We visited the local pub The Boat located on the canal also a short walk up the canal was a very friendly pub The Cross Keys.
There was a field where we could let the dog off the lead for a good run round. It was near the motorway but to be honest the noise was minimal, it's also located by a light airfield that's enjoyable and not very noisy at all.
We are planning some more weekends during these school holidays.
