 Fantastic Site!

Clean, well kept and friendly!

There was plenty of space between pitches but you didn't feel miles away from anyone else.

When arriving we were impressed to find that there was a chippy on site, but not only that but they also had a relationship with a local Indian which meant they delivered directly to your pitch!

The site was large and had a fantastic area in which we could let the dog off the lead and have a good run.

We are not really into fishing but it was so peaceful just looking over the lakes.

Again, yet another one we will definitely be returning to.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Pillaton Hall Farm,

Great campsite with good facilities. We had great pitches with views over the fields and loads of space for the children to play. The two play areas are amongst the best we have seen, with a wide variety of equipment to keep the children entertained.

The layout of the site is good, with loads of space between each pitch. The drive down to the site makes it feel as if you are relay out in the country.

Well stocked shop, just a short walk back up the site drive.

Would recommend this site and we will be returning again.

We stayed at Pillaton on a 2 night short break, the reason being was its pretty close to where we live (only 40 min drive ) and we the week prior had brought our first folding camper - so wanted to test run it :-)

The site it self is beautiful with its lakes and views over the chase.

Toilet Blocks - Look fairly new, excellent condition and we stayed during a less busy period, so we never had to wait for toilets or showers, saying that there were ample showers (approx 8 ladies and 8 male). So plenty to go round, the only think id say about the showers, they are quite small individually, there's no room to take a towel in meaning you would have to get changed in the communal changing bit, prior to showering and after, but otherwise brilliant facilities.

Playground - my two children age 12 and 8 spent hours in the playgrounds (their are 2 one for younger children and one for older) they especially loved the wavey slide and the sand pitted area.

Shop on site - we didn't use much to be honest, but it seemed well stocked, we did however purchase a wifi code, and the kids enjoyed spending time choosing sweet treats.

Local area - being close to the area we know how wonderful it is for cycling over cannock chase with various routes to follow for all ability's - family's, and the more adventurous, as this trip was primarily to test the camper we did not take the bikes this time, - also weather was not the best (rained most of the weekend) we did however venture into cannock town, which is much like any town.

Overall a lovely site, its far to close for us to stay again but if it was picked up and moved to a further away area we would not hesitate in re booking.

Fantastic site with all amenities covered.

Ideal for kids as there are 2 play areas suitable for all ages.

Fishing is good on 4 well stocked pools.

Close to Penkridge village too which has most shops available. If you'd like to travel a little further, then Stafford and Wolverhampton are a 15 - 20 minute drive away.

Overall, a perfect family weekend with all bases covered.

Only thing I think I would make it better would be if there were static caravans available for hire.

Disappointed with site very bland and really only used as a site for locals to get together in groups ok but wouldn't revisit.

Showers filthy ingrained with dirt/scum/hair push button, small cubicles with shower curtain a unwholesome experience

No dog poo bins, no site night lighting, low ambient lighting would make walkways easier to navigate at night. Uneven gravel pathways make the situation worse and means children cant ride a bike on site either.

No hot water for washing up one sink in second block all very basic and needs a deep clean.

Fishing ok not as good as expected.

Shop a long way from campsite.

Traffic noise from M6 and airfield noise constant at weekends.

Tv reception good

Shop well stocked

Plenty of supermarkets in easy reach

Vending machines available

Small fenced in dog walk

Nice views

Needs more bins, more lighting, hot water situation sorted out, deep clean in communal areas, longer opening hours for little fryer, chill out room for teenagers, proper pathways.

Finally found a localish site for quick weekends that we will come back too. Nice idea of booking your own pitch so you can keep away from the water and by the play areas with kids. Facilities a little dated but clean. We were informed they are to be done in the closed season. Great play areas for the kids and hardly any site traffic as reception and the shop are about half a mile away!

Lovely countryside and Cannock Chase only a mile away. Light aircraft taking off nearby was no problem and the kids are now plane spotters!

Will be back in 2014.

Well only really leave reviews after visiting somewhere more than once.

This site in my opinion is very good.

Nice and clean site with plenty of waste bins and spotless shower block but could do with a bit of updating but very clean never the less.

On our first visit it was quite difficult to find and understand the pitch and layout as the pitch number is on a small concrete paving slab which you have to be standing over to be able to read.

Then the actual pitch is marked out with a quite small rectangular box area in the grass my first thought was there was no way our eternity 600 would fit so the wife rang reception and they informed us this marked area is infact the centre of the pitch and to place our tent in the centre and work outwards and all would be fine.

This site has 4 fishing pools on site plus a very large play area and a large penned in dog walking area which are all very well kept apart from the odd dog owner who wouldn't pick up their dogs mess in the walking area.

Think this site is great for couples and people with older children as the fishing ponds aren't fenced in and I think young children could easily wonder off as you can camp right up to each pond so parents would need to be on guard all the time.

We have and will return to this site and highly recommend to family and friends.

Oh and late check out is available at the cost of £5 and it allows you to stay on till 6 o clock which we do every time we have been

Just noticed a negative view of this site and felt it was a little harsh.

I have stayed on this site for 6 weeks last summer and would like to add what I think is a more realistic review from a camper who has seen the good and bad sides of this site.

Access: Very good and secure barrier with card system.

Showers: Push button no charge, small cubicles, horrible shower curtains and as clean as the last person has left it in, in between cleaning by the staff.

Shower gel provided, which is great if you forget yours.

Pot washing: Two areas for this. Water luke warm in one by the smaller toilets, this has been brought to the attention of the owners and does need sorting out, can't see the point of having a sink that only produces luke warm/cold water. The large area by showers has ample sinks and on is not on the whole dirty. Again its as dirty in between the staff cleaning as the last person using it leaves it.

Lighting: There is enough lighting for a rural campsite.

Pitches, most are level and HUGE, some of the biggest pitches we have been on.

Playground: Fabulous, two to choose from to suit all ages. Dont camp near the play area if you don't like noise though, as the kids adore these play areas and they are busy all day and into tea time.

Quiet pitches: There are ample quiet pitches, of which we will take advantage of, when the kids are older. They are by the scenic fishing pools, one has a waterfall feature. Even one on an island (although not with electricity)

Shop: Not too far a walk unless you find walking difficult, well stocked and great idea of having WiFi.

Ice pack storage in freezer for campers.

Staff: Well mannered, helpful and sociable.

Noise: Some background noise but nothing you would notice from the M6.

Aircraft: Light airfield nearby, kids enjoy plane spotting, nothing negative about that.

Dog walk and bins: Dog walk, fully enclosed where you can let your dog off lead. Dog bin and doggy bags supplied. Some campers are NOT picking up after their pet. There isn't a poo fairy even when you are on holiday!

Fishing. Dont fish but judging by the amount of people who were sat, hour after hour by the lovely fishing pools, it's very popular.

Improvements:

Hot water to washing up sink by small toilets.

More hooks in shower cubicles.

Banish shower curtains.

Larger dog bin in dog walk area and more frequent emptying

Hope this review is helpful.

Wonderful campsite, we are in a tourer and currently on this site, and taking advantage of the internet available here, great play area, beautiful grounds, immaculately kept. Gorgeous fishing pools (if you fish) lovely atmosphere, keep coming back and would love it if this site did a seasonal pitch. Been here when it was icy conditions and still had a wonderful time. Kids play area fab, showers fab. Staff superb. What more could a camper or caravaner possible desire. Great for visitors (small charge) and great for families and couples alike. 5*****

Just come back from a quick 3 nighter at this site. In general I thought it was a great site, but there were a couple of niggles.

Positives:

Lovely views, nice big pitches, can choose your own pitch online, well priced, pitches cope well with rain (was torrential the day we got there, overnight and the next day!

Negatives:

Online there was no way of booking a pop up tent. I asked about this when checking in and the woman seemed very confused, asked someone else, and the consensus was they weren't allowed unless I paid for a completely separate pitch! No problem, accepted this - however, I then saw at least 3, and that was without even walking fully round the site! Either they aren't allowed or they are, but I was a little annoyed to see them up after what I was told.

Showers/toilets - These were fine, they just didn't seem to be kept all that clean. They were cleaned once a day. I didn't see a squeegee or mop, and there was a lot of mud on the shower floors.

Wildlife - not a negative for the site, but just a warning - if you don't like frogs/toads (which I don't!) this isn't the site for you! The first night I saw 3 tiny frogs hopping round the toilets. Luckily my son was outside and I called him in to remove them! However, there was a group of kids collecting them and putting them in jars, and they collected loads, plus big ones as well which they were proudly carrying round showing people! I also saw a tiny one hopping round my porch (ughhh). So on that basis, I won't be returning as I don't like them -as I say, this is just a personal choice thing, not a negative for the site.

Our drama of the trip was being woken at 3am the first night by police looking for a missing person. They were knocking on all the caravans and shouting into tents, as well as shining massive torches everywhere. Felt for them having to do that in the pouring rain!

I would recommend a trip to RAF Cosford Museum if weather isn't so good. Its about 16 miles away, entrance is free (£2. 50 to park) and loads of stuff to see. My inlaws went to Cannock Chase and enjoyed that.
